Poor pup. There's a fat idiot owner around here with two untrained American bulldogs that are always trying to attack other dogs and children. It really makes my blood boil tbh.

ABitBesotted · 17/03/2022 13:14

Ugh I didn't mean to type fat idiot. I typed fucking and then thought, this is a nice thread, I'll remove it. Must have left the f which got autofilled to fat. Shock Sorry for any offence-idiots come in every shape and size.

LadyCatStark · 17/03/2022 16:00

Gosh @TerrierOrTerror how terrierpup is ok!

Wish me luck, I’m taking Billy to visit the dog home boarder in half an hour and I’m sooo nervous. I really hope he’s good and doesn’t show me up (or get thrown out before he’s even been for a stay)!

GuyFawkesDay · 17/03/2022 18:04

Oh my word hope TerrorPup is ok @TerrierOrTerror. Scary stuff.

The Hound of the Twatskervilles is back and refused to recall to go back on his lead today so it's long line and back to training class on Saturday, the little #$*@! He's is pushing EVERY damn boundary. Barking for attention.

Will be very lucky to be in possession of his testicles by summer if he ain't careful!

Aria20 · 17/03/2022 19:09

@TerrierOrTerror hope your dog is ok? @Blahblahblah40 we've had similar dogs going nuts snarling and snapping as we simply walk past it's very unnerving!
@GuyFawkesDay we seem to have few good days followed by bad ones... lots of barking for attention in the evenings!
@LadyCatStark we met a couple of home boarders too, one I wasn't keen on at all and the other I really liked and luckily she's happy to have her when we're on holiday in July so I've paid deposit already.

TerrierOrTerror · 17/03/2022 19:45

Thanks all - there was contact made but I think her harness took the hit. Had they been off-lead it would have been totally different. We're in London so tracking the address will prove difficult but at least I'll know to cross the road and be well out of the way next time! We were very grateful to bump into several lovely dogs and owners after this (usually we actually rarely see any to talk to on our weekday walks) so TerrorPup got some play in as well as friendly calm interactions.

Had this been a puppy (we are 18 months so I am really pushing being on the puppy support thread!) it could have been really hurt, but also the impact on confidence could have been extreme.

We've witnessed plenty of snapping and snarling before, not necessarily at TerrorPup, but this was definitely a whole other level! And there was no greeting between the dogs at all, it just piled in.

LadyCatStark · 17/03/2022 20:27

@Aria20 glad you’ve found someone, it’s been really hard to find someone around here as everyone is full but just as I was giving up hope, a new one has set up right in our village! I’m so proud of Billy, he behaved perfectly. He didn’t mark his territory thank god, he didn’t jump up at their 4 year old child and he sniffed nicely with their 2 cocker spaniels. He looked like a giant though 😂. She asked if he knew sit and he sat immediately before she’s even said it to him 🥰.

Aria20 · 17/03/2022 20:39

@LadyCatStark thankfully she was good when we were there and didn't dig the garden up or something!

Blahblahblah40 · 17/03/2022 20:57

They’re all crazy this week… maybe it’s the upcoming full moon?!

LadyCatStark · 18/03/2022 11:59

OMG my heat has literally melted! I took our neighbours’ dog out for a walk with us as they’ve been playing really nicely lately and our neighbour is struggling to find time to walk their dog in the daylight. They played so nicely and it was so much easier than walking one dog! Billy found a stick and the other dog kept trying to get it off him while Billy was winding her up 😂. When I dropped her off, I was chatting to our neighbour and they left the stick down the side of her house. When they went inside and I went to take Billy home, he ran back, picked up the stick and deposited in on our neighbours doorstep 🥰🥰🥰. What a gentleman!

Suzbug · 18/03/2022 14:18

@LadyCatStark That sounds lovely! I've been messaging with other local mums about meeting up for walks as I'm sure a buddy would make IndyPup feel more confident and maybe he might learn a thing or two!

I drove us 0.1 mile round the corner to our local park - we just haven't made it that far walking yet. IndyPup loved it 70% of the time (nervous the remaining 30%) which is the opposite to our usual walks.

@LadyCatStark that's too cute. Mine doesn't share sticks or balls with other dogs.... she'll happily steal theirs though to entice a chase!!

GuyFawkesDay · 18/03/2022 19:28

This numpty is going back to training tomorrow. It's a good job he's cute.

Hi! Can I join? My dog isn't a puppy really, she's 2 but apparently golden retrievers are slow to mature and she's certainly been acting obscenely for quite a while. We have had similar run ins with wildlife @GuyFawkesDay and have struggled to control her urge to hunt and chase 😬 would be interested to see how you get on!

GuyFawkesDay · 18/03/2022 21:46

He's back at bootcamp. Not having this behaviour.

His 🍒 will be off before he knows it at this rate

GuyFawkesDay · 19/03/2022 12:21

Jesus wept, the class today was horrific. FawkesPup was utterly wild. You'd think he'd never been to any training classes at all.

Am booking him in to have his bollocks off.

LadyCatStark · 19/03/2022 13:59

@GuyFawkesDay how old is he? We had a terrible few weeks a few weeks ago but he’s 1 today and he seems to be really settling down this week 🤞.

@abeanbaked you are most welcome as long as you pay your photo tax 😂.

TheBigMacDougal · 19/03/2022 14:17

@GuyFawkesDay do you think the 🥜 off will help? 😂

I had a lovely walk with Mac this morning, he was on the long line for most of it and I realised I have no idea when I’ll be able to let him off and have nice walks with confidence he won’t bomb off. We’ve had a few instances of him marauding around fields/ woods skipping like bambi while I hunt him down having failed to recall. He is starting to retrieve for me if we’re on the village green or in the garden but out in sniffy woods and hedgerows he couldn’t give a sh!t if I had a warm cooked chicken 🤷🏼‍♀️

He’ll be 10 months in 10 days.

certainshepherdpups · 19/03/2022 14:33

Yesterday I took the pup out for an evening stroll. He started to really pull on the lead which took me by surprise. Then I noticed there were some deer across the road. He had obviously already seen/heard/smelled them. I think it was his first encounter with deer and he was fascinated by them. Fortunately he was on a lead or we could have had a true Fenton moment!

Blahblahblah40 · 19/03/2022 16:18

@GuyFawkesDay this will be me come the summer… dreading it. He’s a nightmare out walking just now despite my attempts at training so god knows what it’s gonna be like once he’s a teenager.

Had blahpup back to see mum, dad and brother today. He had an absolute ball! Now spark out on the living room floor. Am enjoying the peace and quiet.

GuyFawkesDay · 19/03/2022 16:48

Honestly I don't know how much the 🍒 off will help but the stupid boisterous behaviour I'd hope would get better. He's 9.5 months, and it's been like bloody Jekyll and Hyde. Was fine, sweet good boy then bam! ignoring me, recall fails and generally being an arsehole.

I'll ring the vet and see whether to go for an implant first.

Tractive should be here Monday so that will be a bit reassuring.

tizwozliz · 19/03/2022 19:42

Hope everyone's managed to enjoy the sunshine 🌞 today, even those with misbehaving pups. We had a lovely walk with friends.

Photo tax! Sorry I couldn't choose just one!😬

tizwozliz · 19/03/2022 21:30

She's beautiful @abeanbaked - from working lines?

OP posts:
abeanbaked · 19/03/2022 21:34

@tizwozliz both mum and dad are working dogs. Perhaps should have considered she may have a HUGE inclination towards birds and deer because of this but she was once a sweet little bundle that followed me around 😂
