Oops yampup has just throwm up her breakfast! Must be catching via Mumsnet!
More likely her pain killers causing tummy upset though!

GenderCriticalTrumpets · 28/06/2022 09:38

Ah sorry @Yamyam13 pup! Bert is just sleeping now, had a wee and a big drink of water and no more poop. Poor thing seems exhausted.

GuyFawkesDay · 28/06/2022 10:59

It's definitely catching as FawkesPup woke me at 4am whining and shot outside with a poorly tum too

I've made up sweet potato rice and white fish and given him some tummy buddy (which he hates!) He had water scrambled egg & rice this morning. Poor lad. He was clearly desperate.

He's fine in himself, apparently he had a good sniff and tried to roll in what was left of a hedgehog 🦔 yesterday so reckon that might be the culprit!!!

Ada tried to anoint herself with dead badger at the weekend. Fortunately it was well dessicated so if any whiff was transferred it was too subtle for the human nose 😁

God they're rancid creatures aren't they??!!!

GenderCriticalTrumpets · 28/06/2022 11:55

The vet wants to see Bert as he's just not right. God what a horrible stress. I'll update when we've seen him.

Hope he's ok! It's surprised me how upset and worried I get when something is wrong with Yampup.
Don't worry; They do bounce back most of the time. Keep us posted x

GenderCriticalTrumpets · 28/06/2022 13:02

He is a bit dehydrated and the vet thinks either a partial blockage, or gastro. Said it is very unlikely to be the vaccine. He's had an anti sickness jab, got some probiotic paste to bind his poo, and off back for fluids if no better by this afternoon.

My nerves are ruined!

Yamyam13 · 28/06/2022 13:19

I'm not surprised, it's really horrible when they are sick esp if off their food.
It sounds like he's in good hands. If it's any comfort, I am on a local dog owner whatsapp group of about 300 people and every week there are a few people on there worried about their dogs and nearly all the time its something tummy related, diarrhoea, vomiting etc. It's really common and there are lots of ways to help it x

Autumn101 · 28/06/2022 15:02

Sorry for all the poorly pups, everything crossed they get better soon x

It is awful when they’re ill, when my pup was sick when he was a lot smaller I cried loads! Scrambled egg always helps him

GuyFawkesDay · 28/06/2022 21:47

Poor FawkesPup has had lots of small episodes of the runs since the 4am poonami. The ones tonight have had some blood in too, I think from all the pooing?

He's had some fish n rice for tea, and pro kolin paste. Appetite is fine and drinking, wants to go for walks and play. The spectacular tummy rumbling noises have gone so hoping he will turn a corner overnight if not I will have a video vet call to arrange.

His mate who he was in the park with (also investigated the sun-dried hedgehog) was vommy lastnight too so reckon that's our culprit

Aria20 · 29/06/2022 07:49

@GuyFawkesDay poor dogs... I'm so glad mine hasn't attempted to eat any carcasses... she's sniffed fox and hedgehog ones but as soon as I spotted what it was quickly called her away!

She did however catch a flying stag beetle the other night!! It flew past me and she obv saw it out the corner of her eye next thing I know snap and she's caught it.... cue me "drop it now!" And she dropped it and lay upside down on its back kicking its legs while I quickly pulled her away. Dogs are so gross lol!

GenderCriticalTrumpets · 29/06/2022 08:22

Aww @GuyFawkesDay how has he been overnight? Bert settled loads better and his poo does seem to be firming up but is still very runny. I've been giving him chicken and rice and he is a total fiend for it, he's not stopped barking all morning 😂

GuyFawkesDay · 29/06/2022 08:58

He's still got bloody poop so I have a video vet call on e I am home tonight. Drinking, weeing, eaten his fish n rice so I don't think it's anything major but still worrying.

They're worse than kids 🤣😬

MsAwesomeDragon · 29/06/2022 17:45

AwesomePup has gone off his food 😱 He's a lab. He eats literal shit when out on walks! But he will not touch his kibble. It's been a few days now that he's not been interested in it, but today he has not eaten a single bit.

Anyone got any recommendations for decent food that won't make his poo too soft (which is why we moved to this one, as poo is great on this one) and my fussy eater will actually eat it?

He's also been really awkward and not listening to us while out on the field near our house. Possibly linked to being hungry, but very annoying.

MsAwesomeDragon · 29/06/2022 17:56

I hope your pup is ok @GuyFawkesDay . It's always worrying when they're ill

certainshepherdpups · 29/06/2022 18:53

Add mine to the list of poorly pups. Sad He threw up twice yesterday and once today. I'm a bit worried and will call the vet tomorrow if he doesn't improve. I hope it's just a case of eating something that disagreed with him or possibly swallowing river water while swimming. Such a worry. I hope all the poorly pups recover quickly.

GuyFawkesDay · 29/06/2022 19:03

Well he's eating well (refused the fish & rice but whining for food, added a little wet food and his Pro-Kolin and he wolfed it down. Drinking, playing and full of beans so I am just hoping it'll work through.

Video vet said if no improvement 72hrs in (so by Friday morning) then get poo samples and vets for analysis.

@MsAwesomeDragon we are on Pooch and Mutt calm and relaxed dry and their wet for topper a few times a week. Illness notwithstanding his 💩 is loads better on it. The essential foods was lovely but he constantly had soft poo, despite me feeding under the guidance amount. Eden was perfect but the little sod refused to eat it.

With subscription and discount code P&M works out well under £20/month and ticks the boxes we need for pup's slightly sensitive tum: no chicken fat, no grain. It scores around the 70% mark on AADF so it's not bad, it's not perfect either but works out good value at that price.

MsAwesomeDragon · 29/06/2022 19:16

Sorry to hear about more poorly pups. I hope they all get better soon.

Thanks for the recommendation @GuyFawkesDay . I'll see what I can get for him to try tomorrow. Tonight he's had some raw complete food that DH bought from the supermarket (it's good but expensive) and pup wolfed that down, including the scoop of kibble DH hid mixed with the raw. I've also got him some sardines to play scent games (in the garden because it really does smell). So he's not hungry tonight and hopefully that means he'll start listening again. We do think there may have been a bitch in heat on the field just before we got there though, because he went absolutely bonkers following a specific scent for the full length of the field without checking in, which isn't his usual style.

tizwozliz · 29/06/2022 19:42

Ada is eating Essentials Superior living. We just celebrated her eating the same thing for more than 2 months for the first time ever! Normally she has some Forthglade 90% or Fish4dogs tins on top. She's eating the recommended amount for her weight but also having toppers and treats on top and appears to be maintaining on that.

Bar illness she's never had any issues with soft poo though, can switch foods, steal and eat 100g butter etc. with no apparent effects, so I'm not sure how useful any recommendation from me is going to be

Mine was on akela Suffolk duck kibble mixed with their duck & turkey wet foods but went off it! So I'm also back to trying others. It's so frustrating when other dogs seem desperate for their food and mind is fussy!

GuyFawkesDay · 29/06/2022 20:06

We had:
Eden: fantastic food. Pup thrived. Pup then decided no thanks.
Essential foods: fantastic quality, but pup had squishy poop and wasn't fussed by it. Had to add wet for him to eat.
Markus Muhle cold pressed: again good quality and dog loved it but tummy never right despite a month + on it.
Pooch and Mutt so far so good.

I think he's feeling better, came downstairs from bathing DD to find he had scoffed a fish skin twist that must have been under the sofa since weekend. Clearly knew it was there before now but didn't want it.

Ah well, I hoping it doesn't upset his bum too much, bit late now

Autumn101 · 29/06/2022 22:18

We feed ours Butternut box, gets delivered every 3 weeks and keep in freezer. He absolutely loves all the different flavours and nice solid poops. He will eat literally anything still though

LadyCatStark · 30/06/2022 08:41

@MsAwesomeDragon Billy is raw fed and he absolutely wolfs it down. He won’t eat kibble either.

We’ve replaced gun dog training with fly ball! Billy thought it was the best thing ever, I think he liked it more than agility. DS came to agility last night for the first time and Billy went far better for him than me 😂.

ilovesushi · 30/06/2022 08:58

We feed our dog Naturo or Dr Clauder which is really good quality but pricey. She does better on the Dr Clauder. Poos are a bit soft with Naturo but it is cheaper. She will ignore kibble if we put it in a bowl, but loves the game of snuffling about for it on the lawn. The older of our two cats now comes out to play hunt the kibble too and it's very cute to see them both nosing about for biscuits in the garden.
