The other thread is full and I can’t see a new one! Hope it’s OK to start one. I’m actually barely surviving puppyhood, actually teenagerhood, this week 🤬😡😭.

@CovoidOfAllHumanity sorry I've scrolled a fair way back and can't see what breed your DDog is?

567and · 19/02/2022 14:50

@CovoidOfAllHumanity sounds like we have the same dog! We were taken aside in our last puppy class last week so the others who were behaving could show their stuff. So embarrassed that he wouldn’t join in, but he’s also an adolescent and is good in other situations so I’m hoping it’s a passing phase. Next class for us isn’t until April so am going to use the time to carry on practicing what we’ve learned and getting him to be calmer in exciting situations. Like yours he doesn’t really respond to food when he’s got something more interesting to bark at. 🤦‍♀️ 😆

Weather much calmer today and we’ve had a nice long amble this morning. He’s now snoozing on his back where I suspect he’ll stay for the next few hours!

Made the mistake today of putting his worming pills in his breakfast. He’s only eaten half of it, but I’ve no idea how much of the crushed tablets he’s eaten. Will be wrapping them in cheese next time!

I agree that this thread is brilliant. I’ve dipped in and out as real life has got in the way sometimes, but I love hearing how everyone is getting on and seeing the pics of the gorgeous puppies.

@LadyCatStark great pic. Mine hasn't experienced snow yet. She was an absolute nightmare on her walk this morning. Offlead as was very quiet in woods no other dogs about. Saw 2 women walking in the distance but thought nothing of it as she has NEVER bothered other humans before unless someone has asked to stroke her....but for some reason today she legged it towards these 2 women and she wouldn't come back!! I sent my 13 yo ds to run after them to catch her as they were too far ahead for my running to get there fast enough. God knows what got into her today but I guess back to the long line again Sad

GuyFawkesDay · 19/02/2022 20:08

I have no idea what goes through FawkesPup's head either! Some days he's perfect, others he's totally feral today he was offlead through the fields again, he was delightful. Came back to the whistle enthusiastically and quickly for sprats, was generally lovely to walk.

Then I took him to a new pet store that's opened nearby and he pulled my arms out and generally was like a hyperactive toddler for the whole visit. So embarrassing!!!

tizwozliz · 19/02/2022 20:11

We had the beach and snow today @LadyCatStark - Ada had a blast

Snow zoomies

Love it @tizwozliz we definitely had snow zoomies 😂 and trying to eat the snowflakes!

Those snow pictures are just lovely, what happy dogs!

Welcome to any newbies but we need photos of your gorgeous pups!

We had our first puppy class yesterday which was Wilson’s first ever outing - he was brilliant, did all the tasks, didn’t get distracted. Then we got home and he was devil dog for the rest of the day 😂 they give then they take away don’t they??

We’re in full on nipping too, anyone have any tips?? We do all the distracting, give a suitable toy, ignore etc but when he’s in full throttle he’s like a maniac and as they always seem to it’s mostly targeted at my 11 year old. I know you’re not supposed to tell them off but I accidentally shouted yesterday after he nipped me on the back of the leg which I didn’t see coming and he looked really shocked but stopped instantly………

Suzbug · 20/02/2022 09:56

Eughh horrible night last night. Struggling with the sleep deprivation that comes with a 9 week old puppy. Need to find some strength today to make it through!

Suzbug · 20/02/2022 10:00

DH and I are tag teaming the kids and pup today - they have infinite energy and we're both running on empty. At least they're back to school/nursery tomorrow!

SirChenjins · 20/02/2022 10:02

Huge sympathies @Suzbug - sleep deprivation is hideous. Hopefully you can get a bit of a nap today or a better sleep tonight. It does get better quite quickly, just hang on in there!

Great photos of the pups Smile

CovoidOfAllHumanity · 20/02/2022 10:26

@hashbrownsandwich
He's a rescue so we don't know for sure but we think he is a Mioritic sheepdog which is a flock guardian breed
The rescue just told us he was a 'mixed breed' so we're a bit taken aback by how big he's turned out to be and the fact that he is rather 'independent minded' to put it politely. I think he would probably be happier on a farm as he likes to be outside in all weathers and has no interest in sofas, beds or cuddles
He is a handsome clever boy though and we will try to do our best by him although he is very trying at present
This is him

He’s gorgeous! @CovoidOfAllHumanity

SirChenjins · 20/02/2022 13:35

Here’s my doggo on his first trip out with the dog walker - he’s the wee cockapoo on the right. He had the best time charging about with his new friends!

Awww @CovoidOfAllHumanity he is a big lad! Our lab also prefers to be out in all weathers to chilling on the sofa. Today we took him up to Grizedale Forest in the Lake District. The fact that the car park and roads were completely empty should have been a clue that it was not a good idea! Billy had the best time ever while us humans tried not to cry 😂.

@SirChenjins he looks like he’s having a fab time with the dog walker!

@Autumn101 my only advice is that it fades away once their adult teeth come through around 16 weeks. Personally, I don’t see a problem with a firm ‘no’ either.

OP posts:
hashbrownsandwich · 20/02/2022 15:10

Aww @CovoidOfAllHumanity he's wonderful looking!

Suzbug · 20/02/2022 15:14

Such gorgeous doggos!

Blahblahblah40 · 20/02/2022 17:04

Agree. If a toddler rocked up and bit you on the ankle you’d tell them off wouldn’t you? 😂
Firm “No” or “Enough”, which I find works better for Blahpup. How old is your puppy now? Blahpup now 15 weeks and is only nippy if he hasn’t slept or he gets wound up by someone. I’ve started playing with him but if see him getting too excited I stop. Popping them out the door for 30 secs if they’re being nippy works a treat too.

Blahblahblah40 · 20/02/2022 17:04

Sorry, that was meant for @Autumn101!

Having an absolute ball!
tizwozliz · 20/02/2022 19:03

PSA - Lidl have pet stuff in at the moment, they had toys, snuffle mats, car seat hammocks, light up collars, light up balls etc.

cheeseisthebest · 20/02/2022 19:22

Hi everyone, sorry have been absent. Cheesepup is still gorgeous, but definitely has separation anxiety. Going to be working with a behaviourist as really need to sort it, he can be fast asleep but if I leave the room he jumps and follows me and we can't leave him alone. I also can't believe he will be 9 months old this week..
He's almost 9kg which is massive for a shih tzu!

SirChenjins · 20/02/2022 19:28

Oh he’s gorgeous @cheeseisthebest!

I sympathise with the separation anxiety. ChenPup is obsessed with me, cries and whines if I so much as leave the room . I went to the shops today and DH said he sat by the door and whined the whole time I was away - it’s actually really concerning. I’ve been trying a few things but not much luck.
