The other thread is full and I can’t see a new one! Hope it’s OK to start one. I’m actually barely surviving puppyhood, actually teenagerhood, this week 🤬😡😭.

Dried sprats are a big favourite here too - he runs away with it and hides while he eats it. I keep telling him he’s safe, no-one is going to fight him for his dried fish Grin

Does anyone else have conversations with their pups like this? I sing ‘you are my sunshine’ whilst giving him a cuddle, but only when no-one is looking. It’s our little secret.

LadyCatStark · 31/01/2022 16:38

Haha @LegsMiserables that’s so true!

Sardines are Billy’s favourite and scrambled eggs. He also likes those he’s of meat/ fish paste decanted into his kong.

@SirChenjins we talk to Billy allll the time and reply in his ‘voice’ 😂. Billy has a special going to sleep song to the tune of “Soft Kitty” from the Big Bang Theory and another favourite is “Billy the dog, 👏 👏” to the Addams family theme tune.

@SirChenjins yes me Grin
I sing to my pup all the time and if I sit on the floor and say mummy cuddles he’ll curl up into the lap. This helps me forget he’s a naught little land shark on many an occasion!

SirChenjins · 31/01/2022 17:15

Glad it’s not just me! DH tells me ChenPup is my baby substitute now that I’m too old to have them, which is probably right. I don’t care, he’s gorgeous (pup pup that is).

We have a ChenPup voice too! It actually makes me quite sad that we’ll never get to hear him speak or have a conversation with him - I’d love that Smile

LadyCatStark · 31/01/2022 18:01

@SirChenjins I feel like Billy is very good at “talking” to us without using words!

Billy went to the sand dunes at St Anne’s today and he loved it so much. Better yet, he only went up to other dogs when I said he could 😁.

I think I wrote about it on another thread, but I definitely talk and sing to my dogs, often revising the lyrics to suit their doggy interests. Smile

@Aria20 we've been naughty and stick him on country cuisine since just before xmas. It's officially an adult food but was all ages til recently. No chicken, no beef. Dog LOVES it. He also loves the semi moist. I use that for training treats and then if I can find a decent offer I have had a big bag of that too. He likes the pheasant and boar one best. The tripe one is fine too. Both chicken free! Not tried the fish bit I suspect he would love it.

The wet foods are worth a go. FawkesPup sits at my feet making mad whimpering desperation noises when I add it to his evening meal and then I use half a tin, 2 eggs and some rice flour and make treats (see pic) which are great and I get a weeks worth for under £1.50

I also sing to the dog. Glad I am not the only crazy dog mum

@glassofbubbles25 thank you I'll have a look. Is it the nutrition website? I use that too.

SirChenjins · 31/01/2022 20:54

We’re just back from a long walk tonight - he was a bit mental as DH had got caught up with work today and hadn’t taken him for his lunchtime walk. He rewarded me with a disgusting poo on grass I had to try and scrape up and a bad attack of the bitey zoomies when we got home. Now he’s zonked out of the sofa and all is forgiven ❤️

@SirChenjins so cute and fluffy!
@GuyFawkesDay I've got some samples of akela coming this week and also another flavour of Millie's wolfheart she hasn't tried yet and if neither is a hit I will bite the bullet and order the semi moist boar and pheasant Eden as I think she will like that more than the regular kibble!

tizwozliz · 31/01/2022 22:07

I picked up some samples of Akana Pacifica at the weekend for training treats, going down well so far.

ABitBesottedWithMyDog · 01/02/2022 05:07

Fabulous camouflaged fluffy blanket / puppy, Sir.

Pup made it through the night again without an accident. ☕

Puppy has to wait till she has had her booster jabs to go walkies, but she is coming as a babe-in-arms to my daughter's school pickups. It's amazing how many people suddenly make a beeline for you and strike up a conversation, attracted by those floppy ears. I had no idea there were so many dog people out and about, and I love it.

GuyFawkesDay · 01/02/2022 08:26

Gorgeous pup, @SirChenjins

@ABitBesottedWithMyDog those days are so lovely. I can hardly lift my chunk these days!! He's a right biffer. Vet says shape and condition are perfect but he's 16kg which is big for a cocker spaniel. He's a strapping lad!!

Aria20 · 01/02/2022 09:46

@GuyFawkesDay mine is 12kg but girls are usually lighter I think. I spoke to soon about her not liking water and mud.... another shower needed this morning!

TheBigMacDougal · 01/02/2022 11:37

@GuyFawkesDay Mac pup is just over 14kg and vet nurse said he could lose a tiny bit the other week. He has a great waist but I said I think he could be skinnier over the ribs and she said if she was being harsh she’d agree 😂. I think they’re all different.

That said, my parents goldie has a definite fat layer over her ribs and waddles like she is a lot older than she is (just under 2) 🤦🏼‍♀️

SirChenjins · 01/02/2022 11:46

@GuyFawkesDay

Ombre mud dipped spanner, anyone?!!!
Looks like he’s had a lot of fun! Is that the gallops at Newmarket?
tizwozliz · 01/02/2022 11:53

I've had to move back to working downstairs today. Poor pup not getting her usual walks due to her season so she's more restless than typical and wanting to spend more time in the garden, so back to the kitchen where I can keep an eye on her and open/close the patio door.

She delivered a small parcel to the OH upstairs earlier. Postman had delivered and I gave it to her and asked her to hold then told her to go find him, and she ran upstairs and gave it to him - it was so cute!

Aria20 · 01/02/2022 12:42

@tizwozliz that's cute, not sure I'd trust mine not to try to shred a parcel as she normally gets given Amazon boxes to shred!

Aria20 · 01/02/2022 13:26

Hmmm just opened new flavour of Millie's wolfheart kibble we haven't tried before and she ran away from me! I then held a piece on my hand for her to sniff and she recoiled away from it, I tried again and she barked at me and ran to the other side of them room! What a strange reaction?!?!

tizwozliz · 01/02/2022 13:53

What flavour is that @Aria20 ?

Ada started on gundog, but has also had duck and veg and utility. She definitely prefers other stuff but she looks so well on the Millie's that I'm loathe to change.

Aria20 · 01/02/2022 15:04

@tizwozliz it's "hunters mix" got duck, salmon, white fish, lamb and rabbit... I thought she'd like it as normally likes fish! We've tried almost all of their flavours thanks to the small £5 bags lol

GuyFawkesDay · 01/02/2022 16:04

@SirChenjins it's Warwick racecourse, weive within what will be walking distan e once he's fully grown. Great 2.8km round or shorter over the centre of the course walk, woods on one side too

SirChenjins · 01/02/2022 16:06

Looks lovely 😊 My DSis was based in Newmarket for a few years, I thought it looked familiar and wondered if you lived there.

GuyFawkesDay · 01/02/2022 16:08

I worked in Newmarket once upon a time messing about with racehorses, when I was young and skinny 🤣
