Where to advertise puppies if not Pets4Homes, please?

I would be very grateful for advice.

I've have been looking at previous The Doghouse posts and many advise avoiding Pets4Homes.

Where would be the best place to advertise our lovely whippet x spaniel puppies, please?

Our vets are still working from the car park only, so no noticeboard, and Facebook has stopped pet adverts. Rather new to this.

The puppies are very cute, but we cannot keep them all!

Thanks in advance.

This isn't going to go well.

I wouldn't return to this thread OP.

jerometheturnipking · 04/10/2021 18:50

Yeah unless you're going to contact your local whippet/spaniel rescue, or Dogs Trust I'd run for the hills (via the vet to get your bitch spayed).

JayAlfredPrufrock · 04/10/2021 18:52

Whippet x Spaniel?

Presume it was an accident?

PersonaNonGarter · 04/10/2021 18:52

How lovely for you OP. Lots of people would love a whippet spaniel cross, that’s a great mix.

Do you want a lot of money for them or are you just trying to cover your costs?

JayAlfredPrufrock · 04/10/2021 18:54

@PersonaNonGarter😂

Hoppinggreen · 04/10/2021 18:55

Well it’s probably something you should have thought about before now.
before your bitch was pregnant would have been ideal

dogsrock15 · 04/10/2021 18:55

get in contact with dogs trust or another animal charity. they can ensure they go to good homes.

RIPWalter · 04/10/2021 18:56

I have a Spaniel X Bedlington (plus a bit of whippet we think) he is a lovely dog and a great family pet.

Good luck with your puppies. Much better than inbreeding pedigrees.

mayblossominapril · 04/10/2021 18:57

People generally sell puppies where I live via word of mouth. You need to find a few well connected local people who mix in dog circles. There’s plenty of people who want puppies and are good homes.
If you are rural feed merchants notice board.

notHarris · 04/10/2021 19:02

I would say that it's not so much where you advertise them that matters. What matters is that you put more importance on them having a good home than on collecting money. So thoroughly vetting potential families, asking questions, meeting them more than once, seeing them interact with the puppies will all be important.
Word of mouth would work well as they'd then have somebody to recommend them.
Even though your vet has no notice board you could still contact them and ask if they know of any clients who are looking for a puppy.

notHarris · 04/10/2021 19:04

Just had to google a whippet/spaniel mix as I couldn't imagine it Grin

SparryG · 04/10/2021 19:05

The people on here are ridiculous. Congrats on the litter bet they are well cute. I would pop them on pets at home and gumtree and ignore advise to do otherwise. They will find lovely new homes im.sute! Good luck

Kanaloa · 04/10/2021 19:07

Why are you only thinking of this now the puppies are born? Good breeders will have a waiting list for puppies for ages, before they’re even born in many cases.

I would say try and sell them to people you know, perhaps you could spread the word through training groups for your current dogs or similar?

Maffy · 04/10/2021 19:08

Thank you for the kind and helpful comments, for the others; 'if you cannot say anything nice...'.

There are also useful quotes about jumping to conclusions too, but if it is really necessary to know, the bitch was rehomed to us with the surprise bonus of being in whelp. The spaniel is a deduction; I've heard the CMS never answer the phone anyway...

@mayblossominapril - Thanks, I had completely forgotten about the feed merchants; shall definitely try there.

Yeah stick them on gumtree, where all future responsible dog owners look for their instant gratification puppy.

On the plus side at least you’d be likely to see your puppy again when the buyer advertises it in the exact same place after 6 months with the explanation ‘lovely puppy but can’t keep as moving/doesn’t fit with lifestyle/don’t have the time.’

You’re disgusting.
Kanaloa · 04/10/2021 19:09

If the dog was rehomed to you pregnant then get in touch with the rescue who rehomed them. I’m sure they will be able to help you find good homes for the puppies.

YoghurtWeaver · 04/10/2021 19:10

Where was the bitch rehomed to you from? Presumably if it's a rescue they will help you home the puppies!

Maffy · 04/10/2021 19:12

@PersonaNonGarter - thanks, hoping to cover costs, but that does include Lego, goggles and a PE top so far...

I ought to charge the children for not tidying up really!

Certainly not the crazy prices online.

Paaahahahahahahaha

Greenmarmalade · 04/10/2021 19:13

Rescue would be a really good bet- they’ll have lovely people who’ve been vetted, waiting for a pup.

Lookwhoseinsideagain · 04/10/2021 19:13

Hunting/shooting/ratting homes might be interested (presuming you aren't inner city!) as that mix sounds like they could be tenacious and driven.

Likewise sporting homes (flyball or agility) might have some interest depending on the size.

Greenmarmalade · 04/10/2021 19:14

Please don’t do gumtree or pets 4 homes.

ducksalive · 04/10/2021 19:16

If your dc go to school maybe chat to mums there?

WeAllHaveWings · 04/10/2021 19:19

What is the "breed"? Is it a Whispa??? Chocolate coloured 🤣

Can you contact the rescue you got the pregnant bitch from for support to ensure they are rehomed responsibly.

Pictures?
