Do dogs fart?

Serious question from a new owner! (12 week old border collie pup.)

Sometimes when she's in the room there's a real smell of farts, to the points think she's had an accident (we're still working on houstraining) but she hasn't. Is it normal bit dogs to fart?

My dog used to be scared of his own farts

Yep! Mine wakes herself up farting and then looks around for the culprit perfectly normal

My boys a loud scentless farter. The kind that will let one rip, look around accusingly at everyone else for disturbing him and then go back to sleep

Yes!!! Usually silent too so you never know it's coming until it's too late

Yes. They do, a lot. My girl has even done some noisy farts when sitting on the floor. She really isn’t impressed with them and looks at DH as though he did it and he is disgusting. 🤣

Mine eats raw and never farts, it's brilliant for that. But now we're on hols in our campervan and he's eating tinned food and this is not good in such an enclosed space!

Absolutely they do. Along with my horses and hens, interestingly though I have never ever heard my cats fart!

Rescue centre person: "Why do you want a dog?"

Me: "Someone to blame the farts on."

My dog sometimes comes and sits beside me and Farts as he gets into sit position. Then he looks all innocent and scarpers.

He also comes and burps in my ear after his dinner. He’s disgusting it’s a good job he’s so cute.

Puppy farts were the worst. 🤮

Older dog has now started to give a little fart sometimes if he jumps up on the sofa. I guess it’s not just humans who lose pelvic floor control as they age...

Yes they do but my cats are the funniest when they fart as they scare themselves

The silent ones are the worst. He is Not Allowed anything with wheat in.

Jaffa dog farts, looks shocked, and then goes back to sleep. It's as if he has no concept of the fact that the noise might have come from him.

My last dog farted the worst farts when dh and I were having sex. Even when we put him outside the bedroom he farted under the door at us!

OMG, inadvertently the funniest thread I’ve seen today. You is in for mucho fun. I thought my Labrador girl was bad enough, face of an angel, arsehole of a middle aged meat eating, beer-swilling bloke. Could clear a room in seconds, silent but deadly. But then I got my greyhound. So elegant, regal but Jesus H Christ. The smell. Eye watering. Lingers too.

Mine fart terribly if they've spent a day eating horse poo.

Pretty certain there was a permanent green haze round our home before our Tyson went to rainbow bridge. The worst ones were when he gave us all a death stare and stalked out the room disgusted at the smell. Pretty certain he could have been used as a counter terrorist device to flush them out of hidey holes, such was his propensity to smell like a cross between raw sewage, rotting eggs and dead flesh. And those were his good days!!!

They definitely do but fortunately my dogs rarely do it. One of them burps after he eats though (proper belches), he’s 5 now and it still makes me laugh.

Ha, ha, ha! I can tell you’ve never been owned by a Labrador! Yes, they fart, sometimes loud occasionally silent and usually stinky!

Both my dogs fart. Lab does ones you can hear but they both stink.
The spaniel also burps too. He gets right up in your face, giving you a loving gaze and just belches and smiles 😂
