Can anyone tell me the breed of this dog please? Sorry the picture isn't great I just screenshot it from FB.
My great granny had a dog very very similar to this and she was the sweetest girl. Haven't seen any more of them for years and years.
Thanks

Saluki?

Whitney168 · 11/10/2018 12:19

Not a great pic to help us, to be honest. Wouldn't think it was a Saluki. I would think it was probably a crossbreed of some sort.

If I had to say breed, given that it looks as if it's in some sort of carrier, I would say a not particularly well bred Miniature Long-Haired Dachshund.

What size was your GG's dog?

missbattenburg · 11/10/2018 12:19

I think it looks like a saluki too. They are typically really gentle, sweet dogs (I think - never had one) so fits the description.

MrsRubyMonday · 11/10/2018 12:34

It's got saluki colouring but Salukis are tall dogs and ours had a much longer face and ears. More like a greyhound.

As others have said, could be a cross, looks a lot like our working cocker spaniel but paler and she was closer to that size. The brown nose is sometimes a sign of bad breeders crossing two recessive colourings together (in labs I know this is the case anyway) so may be trying for designer pale colourings.

NoSquirrels · 11/10/2018 12:37

Looks like a spaniel cross to me, or a dachshund cross but you’d have mentioned if your gran’s dog was smaller?

cricketmum84 · 11/10/2018 12:39

Looks like a Saluki to me. Beautiful dogs 😍

WhatInTheWorldIsGoingOn · 11/10/2018 12:40

Looks like a lemon coloured working cocker spaniel to me.

WowserBowser · 11/10/2018 12:40

A Luckdragon?

NicoAndTheNiners · 11/10/2018 12:43

I thought some sort of spaniel cross?

dd's boyfriend has an app on his phone where you can take a photo of any dog and it tells you the breed - it got it right for my crossbreed dog and said what mix she is! Dunno the app name.

PainSnail · 11/10/2018 12:44

Legs are too short to be a saluki. I would guess at a long haired dachshund, possibly crossed with something else

WhatInTheWorldIsGoingOn · 11/10/2018 12:44

Specifically working cocker. Shows look very different.

Whitney168 · 11/10/2018 13:35

Working Cocker could indeed work, but I'm still heading towards a Dachs or cross from the context of the basket (and legs look short).

strawberrisc · 11/10/2018 13:52

Is it a Falcor?

Aprilislonggone · 11/10/2018 13:54

Ear hair too short for saluki!!
The app mentioned sounds great!!

Conseulabananahammock · 11/10/2018 13:55

Looks like spaniel x daschund. My sil had some in black. Very similar

Conseulabananahammock · 11/10/2018 13:56

And it was indeed a working cocker spaniel in black with the daschund

ohdeardeardear · 11/10/2018 13:56

Long haired sausage dog?

WhatInTheWorldIsGoingOn · 11/10/2018 13:57

Lots of working cockers are tiny.

TheSteakBakeOfAwesome · 11/10/2018 14:03

They're flipping divas!

ErrolTheDragon · 11/10/2018 14:06

Presumably the OP would know if her great grans girl was a short but long dachshund?

If you google 'blonde long haired dachshund' you will see dogs that look similar but they nearly all have black noses (I don't think I've ever seen a pink nosed dachsie and I'm an afficionado)

A sense of scale would help!

ProfessorMoody · 11/10/2018 14:07

Not a Saluki.

Looks like a spaniel cross to me.

StathamsSopranino · 11/10/2018 14:11

I think it looks quite a lot like a Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever... Smile

ProfessorMoody · 11/10/2018 14:12

It's definitely not a Toller Smile

Whitney168 · 11/10/2018 14:13

It doesn't ...
