So over the last week or so ddog has developed a wheezy cough that culminates in a gagging noise, has completely gone off her food, urinating in the house, orange diarrhoea and shaking whilst lying down.

Currently sat outside the vet waiting for blood test results.

Holding hand Flowers

Hoping it's something that can easily be treated.

AnnieAnoniMouser · 14/04/2018 13:19

Oh lovely, that doesn’t sound good 🙁

However, it’s amazing what ghastly symptoms animals can display then be perfectly well a short time later. Hopefully the silly sausage has just snaffled something she shouldn’t and it’s working it’s way out of her system...fingers crossed x

AnnieAnoniMouser · 14/04/2018 14:39

How are you getting on?

BiteyShark · 14/04/2018 15:30

Fingers crossed for good news that whatever it is is easily treated Flowers

Our lab had gagging, coughing and a dire rear after demolishing a raw marrow bone, resulted a vet stay on drip and GA for xrays. Showed nothing and he was home 2 days later, right as rain, but both him and my purse quite a few pounds lighter.

Hope you get the same outcome 🍀

thegrinchthatstolexmas · 14/04/2018 16:08

Blood tests came back normal with slightly raised liver function, vet can here a definite wheeze in her lungs, and she is exhibiting signs of pain around her abdomen. antibiotic injection, pain killer injection and omeprazole given today have to take her back tomorrow for review.
If there's no improvement they will admit her to do X-rays etc,

Fingers crossed grinch. Flowers

ScreamingValenta · 14/04/2018 16:12

Hope she improves in the next 24 hours.

Aprilmightbemynewname · 14/04/2018 16:13

Maybe she has swallowed something odd? When we went away last year and left ddog with adult dd she ate an entire flip flop minus the toe post bit!!
Fingers crossed op.

AnnieAnoniMouser · 15/04/2018 00:15

Well, that’s not exactly ‘good’ news, but it’s not ‘bad’ news. Hopefully she’ll be more herself tomorrow. Hope you’re both asleep now.

thegrinchthatstolexmas · 15/04/2018 09:11

So ddog hasn't coughed/gagged since we left the vet yesterday.
She also hasn't eaten anything though.
She seems calmer today and less out of breath but worrying about the refusal to eat

OP posts:
ScreamingValenta · 15/04/2018 09:34

It might just be the meds are affecting her appetite. Have you tried tempting her with something warmed?

BiteyShark · 15/04/2018 09:39

I presume you have pulled the big guns out and tempted her with her favourite smelliest food?

When my dog won't eat I know he's in pain but I see you are going back to the vets for a review today which is good.

AnnieAnoniMouser · 15/04/2018 12:38

Hopefully that's just yesterday’s meds making her a bit off her food.

Good news about ‘no coughing or gagging’

What time is your apt today?

thegrinchthatstolexmas · 15/04/2018 14:12

She's been 'off' her food for about a week so not a side effect of the meds.
Vets have given her another dose of antibiotics and pain relief, as her temperature has gone down slightly and the cough has subsided we have got to go back tomorrow. If she still isnt eating they are going to admit her for more tests.

Hi

It’s horrible not knowing isn’t it 🙁

Have they ruled out a tooth absess? A friend of mine thought her DDogs cancer was back again, she was off her food, ‘coughing’, upset tummy...the vet looked her over & did a load of tests. Couldn’t find anything, she had another look in her mouth and found an absess in an awkward spot to see. Unfortunately the tooth needed to be taken out, but that and some antibiotics and she was back to her old self in no time.

thegrinchthatstolexmas · 16/04/2018 07:46

Yes they have checked her teeth and all look ok. The cough started again last night and she still isn't eating. Looks like she will be staying at the vets tonight :)

thegrinchthatstolexmas · 16/04/2018 19:44

Still no improvement, temperature has gone up again.
She's going back tomorrow morning to be admitted for X-rays. Ultrasound and now blood work

thegrinchthatstolexmas · 17/04/2018 10:18

Took ddog to the vet this morning. They are going to call me after the X-rays to let me know what they find. The wait is by far the worst bit

OP posts:
MsAdorabelleDearheartVonLipwig · 17/04/2018 10:22

Hope it’s good news. Flowers

TheFaerieQueene · 17/04/2018 10:26

Hoping your lovely DDog is better soon.

BiteyShark · 17/04/2018 10:35

Having been in that situation I know how horrible the waiting it. I couldn't concentrate on anything and just sat watching the clock. Really hope you get some good news.

FatBallsAndSunflowerSeeds · 17/04/2018 10:49

Fingers crossed for you OP. It's awful waiting isn't it.

thegrinchthatstolexmas · 17/04/2018 11:19

The waiting is driving me insane. They said if the X-rays show anything they will call whilst she is sedated so I can decide if I want them to operate/treat her there and then.

Still haven't heard anything though

OP posts:
thegrinchthatstolexmas · 17/04/2018 12:21

Ddog had secondary cancer on her lungs, vet has put her to sleep whilst she was sedated
