What are your dog's strange little foibles?

Ours (collie X) insists on shutting the kitchen door behind him with his nose before we can go out the back door for a walk. He also likes to drink out of a particular flower pot in the garden but is afraid of the watering can so paws at it to be filled, runs to the other side of the garden and comes back when it's full...

Mine loves sitting in piles of laundry.

RandomMess · 17/11/2017 17:32

Mine comes home from a walk and charges around the house with the most energy ever seem literally bouncing off all the furniture and using entire house like a race track!

DailyMailDontStealMyThread · 17/11/2017 17:46

Random mine does that! She will come in and then sprint around the living room before bounding 8nto her bed every single time Grin

She is also scared when light shines through the blind on to the wall and will wander around looking sad and giving the light an evil look.

She stands at the back door staring in Like she wants to come in but every time I open the door she walks away, I shut the door she comes back and stands there again!

Odd Ddog

thefootofourstairs · 17/11/2017 18:29

mine wants to be permanently sat on my knee and if that's not possible because i'm busy etc he will pick up my slipper and go sit with that instead .
He gets super happy after hes eaten his tea and starts throwing his toys up in the air every night .

RandomMess · 17/11/2017 18:55

Clearly the racing around means something! Wish I knew what...

Pollydonia · 17/11/2017 19:50

Our lab will only eat a treat ( bone etc ) if both me and dh are home, if one of us is out he will wait until we're home.

fleshmarketclose · 17/11/2017 19:54

No matter where I give Eric a treat he takes it to eat on my new carpet Hmm Before the new carpet he'd eat them on the spot. I think this is just another indication of him being a bloody nuisance tbh.

bluebells1 · 17/11/2017 20:08

Everytime I hoover the stairs, he will come and stand at the bottom of the stairs to be hoovered himself. If I don't, he will whine and go complain to my DH(if he is home). Grin He is mad!

Justbookedasummmerholiday · 17/11/2017 20:12

Mine sits patiently watching me finish my food /coffee then as soon as I put plate /cup down she jumps up, shoves my arm up to cuddle her in!!

Lolimax · 17/11/2017 20:15

Max barks at anything resembling an animal on the tele. Real, cartoon, China, you name it, he barks at it. He even recognised certain adverts before the animals come on.
Countryfile is a dim and distant memory.

LabradorMama · 17/11/2017 20:19

My Labrador bitch loves having her bum scratched just in front of her tail. She often takes strangers by surprise when they bend to stroke her and she turns around and presents them with her backside! She jumps up and down with her back legs when you scratch her bum. And she likes to force herself between your legs in order to get a back rub too, she has almost knocked people off their feet many times Grin

mumonashoestring · 17/11/2017 20:20

Ours bounces round the garden like an antelope - he used to bark while doing this but we've convinced him this is undesirable, so now he huffs Grin

RandomMess · 17/11/2017 20:28

Our dog bounces like a springbok she’s small and athletic build can get really high and appears up out of the long meadow grass!

DramaAlpaca · 17/11/2017 20:29

I use a plastic jug to refill the dogs' water bowl. Boy dog likes to drink out of the jug as the water is being poured into the bowl as it tastes much better that way.

VivienneWestwoodsKnickers · 17/11/2017 20:32

My parents dog howls to the Go Compare adverts. He's always done it, even with no audience.

My dog is another antelope, albeit a silent one. She also sleeps like this:

Madbengalmum · 17/11/2017 20:36

Mine does a funny little bark in her sleep and her legs start moving like shes dreaming of running.

Awks · 17/11/2017 20:39

When we are on a walk and he wants a crap he will push his arse against a tree or stone so that his crap is like a cherry on the top. Every time.

maitaimojito · 17/11/2017 20:42

Growling at her reflection in the oven door! Grin

ItsNachoCheese · 17/11/2017 20:45

Nachodog will bring his bowl if he wants fed or wants a drink and brings his lead when he wants to go a walk

Composteleana · 17/11/2017 20:49

Mine is just one big funny foible. If he gets a new toy or treat he'll whine to be let in the garden to run round with it whilst whimpering then come back inside to play with/ eat it. Sausages are either buried or hidden then he'll run straight back and retrieve then eat them. He'll take random dislikes to things in the house, even if they've been there years, he'll suddenly take against them and start barking at them. He does a funny little sneeze if he's not happy about something, we call it the sneeze of disapproval. He also absolutely adores my niece's boyfriend who he only sees every couple of months - every time he sees him he's just beside himself with ecstasy. He loves me and DP plenty, but we can never compete with the sheer excitement of seeing niece's boyfriend. if DP talks to him in a 'serious' voice - just a slightly deeper/slower version of his normal voice, he'll throw himself on his back, start pawing DP away and huffing and whining at him like a teenager, but if DP stops and walks away the dog follows him and nudges him till he does it again.

Findingross · 17/11/2017 20:59

One of mine is obsessed with licking my hair each morning when I’ve washed it.
If he had his way, I would be pinned down and not released until my hair was dry!
It makes me smile (and try to avoid him).

bluetongue · 17/11/2017 21:50

I used to give Bluepuppy a pig ear every time I left him to go to work. My set is that he has access to half the house and a dog door out to a small, secure backyard. I would give him the ear in his bed and it would be gone when I got home. In my mind he was happily chewing on it for ages. Then one day he brought something strange and covered with soil and leaves into the house. It was a partially decomposed pig's ear. More started turning up. Turns out he wouldn't eat then at all but take then into the garden and bury them with his pointy nose for later.

bluetongue · 17/11/2017 21:54

Just remembered another one. Sometimes Bluepuppy will pick up his soft food out of his bowl and take it back to his bed or into the backyard to eat. Not every time though. It's completely random.

sleepingdogslying · 17/11/2017 22:02

Ddog1 won’t eat on her own - if I feed her and leave the room, she picks up a mouthful of food, brings it to wherever I am, spits it on the floor and then eats it. Weirdly, our new Ddog2 has started doing the same.

dantdmistedious · 17/11/2017 22:07

Dog won’t eat in his own either. When we out the harness on him he stands stick still - won’t move at all. Handy as I get his harness on and then get the kids ready without him going mental.
