What is our dog crossed with?!

We adopted Misty yesterday. The kennel think she's about 3 (her teeth are still very pointy though) and they said lurcher/terrier cross.

I just wanted to gauge opinions as DP is convinced she's got Irish wolfhound in her and DS is harbouring dreams of riding her Grin

She's lovely. Bit hyper and clingy but seems to be settling in well.

Definitely looks like there is some Irish Wolfhound. I am definitely hormonal, I shed a little tear at how happy she looks.
I wish more would adopt rather than buy dogs.

Wolfiefan · 09/03/2017 22:03

Wolfhound?!

She is so happy! I wish I knew her backstory. We're assuming maybe an older person had her as she doesn't appear to have been mistreated but she's desperate for affection. She's not trained at all command wise (I've been trying sit but she just backflips) but she's house trained.

Errr so if she's younger than the kennels thought she could get huge? I'm imagining a Clifford the big red dog scenario here!

I don't have a clue but she is absolutely gorgeous.

CornflakeHomunculus · 09/03/2017 22:08

How big is she? She looks fairly small in those photos so could be Bedlington x whippet. It's a very common cross and they often look very much like her.

If she's much bigger than she looks then her having some deerhound in her is a possibility and much more likely than IW.

Wolfiefan · 09/03/2017 22:08

She doesn't look heavy enough to be a wolfie. Deerhound mix?
I can't imagine they would confuse a 6 month pup with a three year old.
We DO have a Clifford situation! Weigh in tomorrow. Estimate 40kg at 5 1/2 months! Grin

whatisthisdog · 09/03/2017 22:13

She's medium sized. Just not according to the medium sized dog bed from Argos that she hangs over the sides of Grin

She's not very heavy. She's quite gangly.

Deerhound I'd say.

Gorgeous girl.

Wolfiefan · 09/03/2017 22:17

She's lush. Whatever she is. You can actually DNA test if you really want to know!

AnarchyKitty · 09/03/2017 22:18

Looks exactly like my old dog. He was a wolfie x bedlington lurcher.
Enjoy. She looks a beauty.

angelinheaven · 09/03/2017 22:21

Get her dna tested, about £30-50 that's all, I had my dog done. And also told me if there was any genetical problems too. Really worth doing then you will know exactly what she is x

taptonaria27 · 09/03/2017 22:21

Looks just like Barry's brother Barney. They are Bedlngton Greyhounds, here's Barry who we adopted last year.
Having said that we watched Crufts this evening and the deerhound also looked just like him except bigger

I have a Cypriot street dog that I would love to know about too. I am going to get DNA testing.
Your dog has the kindest faceStar

JumpingJellybeanz · 09/03/2017 22:23

I agree with Cornflake, whippet/Bedlington.

weaselwords · 09/03/2017 22:30

Another vote for whippet x beddlington.

JustBeingJobless · 09/03/2017 22:48

She's the spit of my friends bedlington/whippet.

DispatchReady · 09/03/2017 23:00

We got our boy from a rescue a couple of weeks ago, told us he was an Irish wolfhound crossed with maybe a poodle or labradoodle but when I watched Crufts I thought he looked more like the deerhound but may have been the way the Irish wolfhound on there was cut.

Whatever she is, your new addition is gorgeous - hope she continues to settle in well!

How gorgeous! 😀
Deerhound x ?

Blackfellpony · 10/03/2017 14:54

Bedlington would be my guess!

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 10/03/2017 21:37

Deerhound mix.

pigsDOfly · 11/03/2017 17:13

No wisdom to add OP, sorry, but just wanted to say taptonaria your dog is gorgeous: that mad hair and that beard. I love him.

He looks like a real character.

KoalaDownUnder · 11/03/2017 17:19

I don't know, but I want to hug all the dogs on this thread! 💗

SallyGinnamon · 11/03/2017 17:23

Who cares! Misty is gorgeous.

SallyGinnamon · 11/03/2017 17:24

As are they all obviously

LurchersAreNutters · 11/03/2017 17:31

Looks just like our dog's dad who was a bedlington whippet. Lovely dogs!
