Strange food your dog likes?

Just curious what everyone else's dogs favourite non dog food is.

My dogs favourite foods are
Fresh popcorn with lots of salt and/or Parmesan, tinned tuna in oil, non alcoholic beer, lettuce, rye bread, cheese, ice cubes and pâté.

I would like to point out appart from 1-2 tins of tuna a week we give the dog very small amounts of the foods above and we would never give him alcohol.

Apple.

Anything cheese flavoured isn't strange, all carnivores will eat cheese if they are happy scavenging. Foxes, dogs, cats etc, all eat cheese.

My dog was violently attacking a small orange last night. She couldn't leave it alone, yet every time it 'juiced' in her mouth while she was biting it, she exploded in a fit of rage and started barking at it. Really funny to watch!

colditz · 20/10/2012 14:36

And pâté is made of liver, which is a dogs idea of gourmet dining.

PersonalClown · 20/10/2012 14:41

Vinegar. Both my weird dogs love it.

minmooch · 20/10/2012 14:44

Raspberries, strawberries, courgettes, cucumber, tomatoes - he loves going blackberry picking but his muzzle turns very blue/black!

morethanyoubargainfor · 20/10/2012 14:45

One of mine loves banana, all of them go bonkers for tuna/sardines/pilchards actually any fish. I am sure they would like a lot more if they were allowed to have it! Strict rules in this house with the dogs!

Vix07 · 20/10/2012 14:55

Whisky! just hearing the word makes him jump about like a loon! Mind you he was rescued from Glasgow dogs trust (of course I don't actually pour him one too but the sad eyes I get if I have one & he can smell it!)

Also partial to whole packs of butter including wrapping in case he misses any, and prawn crackers.

Toomanychoices · 20/10/2012 15:01

Green beans straight from the freezer
Oh and sweet corn straight from the freezer, funny dog Grin

Broccoli. I have given her broccoli every single day since I got her as an 8 week old puppy. I am convinced it has helped get her to the ripe old age of 14 1/2.

My sweet old dog was banana obsessed. Will never forget the day she darted off in the park to mug an old lady for her banana. She was also quite partial to (cooked) carrots. Batons not round Hmm

The Doodle has become a coffee snob. He sits and gives the big eyes just to get to DP's frothy Nespresso. He actually turns his nose up at regular.

midori1999 · 20/10/2012 15:48

Butter or marg, the only thing one of mine will steal. Also the empty packets are the only thing she'll raid the bin for the madam!

IDismyname · 20/10/2012 15:55

My working cocker loves crunching on ice cubes

TantrumsAndBalloons · 20/10/2012 15:57

Carrots. And ice cubes.

Isandri · 20/10/2012 16:04

Apparently I can add liquorice root to the list.

Does horsepoo and dead things count? Puppy loves those Envy

Doodlekitty · 20/10/2012 16:06

Pineapple. We gave it to her when she was a pup (to stop her eating her own poo, but that's another story) and its still her favourite treat.

She's also partial to dry pasta

memphis83 · 20/10/2012 16:07

My last dog loved lettuce, he went wappy for the stuff, he also used to love apples, he would gnaw the skin off.

Isandri · 20/10/2012 16:56

My dog likes dead things too and tries to sneakily eat poo. I decided they come under normal food :)

He likes cucumber,a nd gets quite narked if he doesn't get the end part. He also stands uner me when I'm peeling carrots and runs off with the peelings. Prawn crackers and poppadoms go down well, too. He likes the crunch. Snarls at oranges because the fuckers bite back Grin

Elibean · 20/10/2012 18:37

Broccoli stalks Hmm

Elibean · 20/10/2012 18:38

Oh - and apples, carrots, unripe tiny green oranges from my orange tree.

PersonalClown · 20/10/2012 18:40

Yep my 2 love cucumber too. And Dairlyea.

mum47 · 20/10/2012 18:42

My dog will eat absolutely any food, apart from olives, celery and lettuce!

LoveDogs · 20/10/2012 19:06

Our dogs LOVE carrots and have one every day, but one of our dogs loves fruit and veg, she can't get enough of them, 99% of the time she would prefer that to her dog meat.

Avago · 20/10/2012 21:08

I've had 3 Cockers that have loved raw potato. The first one used to dig up her own from the garden when she felt like it. She also chewed pea pods till they opened then carefully nibbled the peas inside. Oh and apples but only Golden Delicious.
