Just curious what everyone else's dogs favourite non dog food is.

My dogs favourite foods are
Fresh popcorn with lots of salt and/or Parmesan, tinned tuna in oil, non alcoholic beer, lettuce, rye bread, cheese, ice cubes and pâté.

Oh I forgot... My broccoli eater also loves melon. I on.y found this out recently when ds1 dropped his bowl of melon on the floor and the hound snaffled the lot up.

Sassybeast · 20/10/2012 21:52

Oranges. and poo!

KateByChristmas · 20/10/2012 21:52

Bananas and apples.......but much stranger than this is chocolate as if she managed to get even the tiniest lick she explodes at both ends, violently for hours Sad you would think she would be put off but oh no Confused

MILs spaniel loves cauliflower leaves, he'll stand and bark at you if you're prepping a cauli with the leaves still on it.

My sisters boxer loves cucumber, but only the middle bit. If you give him a slice he'll chew and chomp it then spit it out, almost whole and with the middle bit missing :o

My grans dog used to love uncooked tripe... Not to eat, to roll his face and ears against on the floor!!!

tabulahrasa · 21/10/2012 08:55

My last dog used to wait expectantly for Rudolph's carrot every Christmas eve - it made me cry the first Christmas he was gone, having to get rid of the carrot. I've now got a puppy who I'm sure would oblige, but the DC are too old...which is also upsetting me, lol.

Aquelven · 21/10/2012 10:39

Sprout peelings, they hang round my feet hopefully, peanuts, prawn crackers & polo mints, which they'll raid my handbag for.

My littlest is very keen on crisps, but only cheese & onion.

Cardea · 21/10/2012 11:43

tabula that's sad!

I get barked at when I'm peeling carrots (and potatoes until flatdog realises they aren't carrots) so Rudolph's carrot wouldn't last long
he will go to ridiculous lengths to steal bread
He pretty much will eat anything including cat poo, fox poo and his own vomit

KarenHL · 21/10/2012 11:48

Not so much a food one, but my Mum's dog used to insist on a bowl of tea. He would not stop begging until he got it.

alto1 · 21/10/2012 12:00

Cat food Grin

and bananas

Rents · 21/10/2012 12:14

I had a boxer that used to love eating soap. He also used to escape from the garden and scavenge a takeaway. He use to turn up back home, a few hours later, with curry all over his face.

toomuchmonthatendofthemoney · 21/10/2012 12:57

Frozen peas dropped on floor on way from freezer to work top. Quarter of a bag (I was holding it wrong way up) gone in the work of a moment.
Red pepper, uncooked.
Cucumber.
Yoghurt.
Egg mayo.
And his favourite, banana. Will follow you around for that.

These are just the known ones, courtesy of my clumsiness or Ds using him as a handy dustbin. I highly suspect as a typical Labrador "belly with fur" he would eat pretty much anything if offered.

sunflowerseeds · 21/10/2012 21:27

Dogs being natural scavengers, most of them will eat anything. My labrador liked tennis balls and socks. I knew a very finicky Westie who ate a whole mole.

LetThereBeCupcakes · 22/10/2012 14:29

I have labs too, so they'll eat pretty much anything. My boy is very partial to fruit (one year he stripped EVERY red tomato off of the three plants on our patio). He also picks raspberries and blackberries. The only thing he won't eat is purple skittles (all other colours are fine).

I feel I should point out that I didn't actually feed him the skittles. Somebody had dropped a load of them in the street. He hoovered the whole lot up before moving them around in his mouth and spitting out the purple ones (and giving me a dirty look - presumably it was my fault they didn't taste good).

My girl eats books.

Ullena · 22/10/2012 14:40

The absolute favourite thing here is toast with butter, but they will eat anything really. Including algae wafers.

crispycake · 22/10/2012 16:14

Not food but she loves a good old cup of tea :)
Ribena, apple juice, wine, beer. You get the idea.
If we have a drink in the sitting room on the floor and if we quickly nip the loo or the kitchen etc you can expect to come back and find her in the act or she's spilt it over.

She also got through phrases of eating dried dog poo on walks Hmm

Aquelven · 22/10/2012 17:42

Am I the only one with a dog that has no sweet tooth at all?

The others will eat anything sweet, fruit, toffees, mints, you name it.
But my littlest Yorkie won't touch anything sweet. In fact if someone gives her something, along with the others not wanting her to miss out, she spits it out in disgust & gives you such a filthy look. How can such a hairy dog have such an expressive face?

Can't decide if she just hates the stuff or is obsessively watching her 5lb figure. Confused
