so the pointies have their own cushion, could we have rabbit hole or something?

So what sort of terrier you got, whats their best and worst points. any training tips?
I'll start, I have Cherry a 2 year old border terrier, she is my world. Best she is so gentle and lovely with the kids and the best lap warmer ever.
Worst points she is dog aggressive, I have been working on this for at least a year and sometimes she gets better but she is very unpredicatbale, especially with puppies.
My training tip would be always have really good treats, cherry will do nothing unless she gets paid for it, she isnt a spaniel you know.
Right your turn.

Anyways, some topical terrier chat...

I've met Andy Murray's border terrier Maggie May. A few times! Couple of times with a dog walker and once with the man himself.

Says in the Telegraph today that he and Kim now have a second border called Rusty. And there's the cutest pic of Rusty, aw.

Just had to get that terrier name-dropping in today, of all days! Grin

Haha I can't ever see scruff pup progressing from bandana to bow tie!!

sydenhamhighstreet · 08/07/2012 19:05

He gets a lot of comments. He considers himself to be v. handsome.

ditavonteesed · 09/07/2012 07:14

cherry has a bandana with cupcakes and cherrys on it, it is actually for her dap spray, she hates it, Eric loves people clothes and would look most dapper in a bow tie. actutally I think he needs a smoking jacket. (poncy spaniel)

I don't suppose you saw the photos of David Walliams' border terrier Bert in a tuxedo?

sydenhamhighstreet · 09/07/2012 10:30

You've gotta watch the slide show of David Walliams' border terrier:

Adorable!

Hello, please may I join too? I love this thread! We've ALSO got a Border called Tess. Or Snuff. Or a variety of other ridiculous names and we adore her. She's now a year old, still as cheeky as ever. Terrible recall, brilliant at cuddles and snuggling, gorgeous big chocolate eyes and a gorgeous face. Lovely lovely nature. We've put her into kennels this afternoon as we're away on holiday for a few days and I'm already missing her loads! She's going through a slighty destructive phase at the moment (am putting it down to teenage years) and has trashed a few shoes/maternity bras (don't ask!)/, other bits and bobs. She's our first dog and I love her character and general "gameness" for anything fun and involved with us. I'm expecting our first baby next month and I know they're going to be good buddies in the years to come. I'd like another dog at some point, as she loves other dogs and is very nosy and would love a friend to pad about with. One day!

One thing, though. She hates the car and often gets quite anxious and sick. We're waiting for the DAP spary to arrive in the hopes that it'll help her a bit, but does anyone else have any other advice? We've tried her on the floor of the front, on the back seat in a harness but the most success we have in on a lap, which isn't ideal (or legal either...). Any tips gratefully received!

sydenhamhighstreet · 10/07/2012 19:46

Ours has to be looking out of the window, and prefers to be high up. He's found a way of perching on a side thing in the back. Could you try something like that? Lots of dogs like having their faces out of a window, although we don't do that with ours.

Portia is our jack, she is fab! I call her a valleys girl, all mouth little action. Fab with the boys, they adore her. She is a lucky lady - there is an open door here she comes and goes as she feels. Great with children, will snap but will then walk away. Lives on a farm so plenty to keep her occupied. Not trained, doesnt have collar and doesnt go on lead.

Bad points - will go missing rabbit holes and ratting. Chases cars, hates some men when arriving at the door. Yappy. rolls in dead sheep and muck heap so stinks the house out, she picks up ticks. Licks dead animals so a bit of a risk in the house and can bring bits of dead sheep into the garden much to the amusement of the boys. Losing hair all year around and dont think I'd go for a smooth coat again as its everywhere.

She is such a gorgeous looking bitch and I see her as my little girl.....such great company I love having her around.

I've already checked out that site! No dog at the moment that sounded right for us, but I'll keep and eye on it.

hellymelly · 15/07/2012 12:15

Is everyone too busy running after their terriers Wink

Just been reunited with my Patty boy after a week away. He's now taken to following me around and offering me his chew toys. Grin I caved in the 2 past night as DH is working away and he's been sleeping at the bottom of our bed Blush
