Rodger.

He was a big lab and such a cutey. He came to play with my 2 GSDs and his owner was bellowing across the field "Rodger, RODGER come back"

Rodger obviously gave 2 fingers to his owner as me chucking a ball was far more interesting than his owner.

Just thought I would share that as the dogs name made me smile on a cold, grey morning. Grin

As opposed to long haired and smooth coated GSD? Hmmmm. Must run that past my sos (1 alsation and 2 GSDs by that definition!!).

StellaAndFries · 22/05/2012 18:43

My sister has a Rottweiler called Brenda.

TheMonster · 22/05/2012 18:45

Our old cat was called Sir Terry. I miss that little dude. DP ran him over.

MuddyDogs · 22/05/2012 19:06

Our hamster is called Kevin. I sometimes dream of getting kittens and calling them Sharon and Tracey. Sadly DH computer says no Sad.

TeaTeaLotsOfTea · 22/05/2012 19:12

I have one dog called George the other named oscar my 2 cats are called isaac and lola. I know a dog called clyde and 1 called frank.

I've known a dog called graham and my auntie has a rabbit called Clive Grin Human names are so much better than "pet" names.

CalamityJones · 22/05/2012 19:19

My dog (Otis) has a mate called Trevor. He's salt of the earth compared to Otis.

Leni75 · 22/05/2012 19:26

My dog is called Sinclair, though i didn't actually name him that, he came from the dogs home and that's what they had called him. My kids got a book for easter and it has a cat called Gloria, a dog called Colin and a rabbit called Jeffery......I think human names are GREAT for pets :)

Frontpaw · 22/05/2012 20:04

DS has a human name. So do several dogs around here. I am not sure why the walkers find it so amusing to call their dog over to 'introduce them to another SonOfPawsname'.

No, DS is not called Fido, Rex or Rover. Not even Fluffy, Tiddles or Trixie.

At puppy training classes there was a man with his yellow lab just finishing their course as we started ours. The trainer called forward Nigel and Roger for their certificate. To this day, I've no idea which was which.

Ambrosius · 22/05/2012 21:32

I have known dogs called Dregs, Fraggle, Sideways, Nermal and Yardie. They were all smashing pups Grin

Joolyjoolyjoo · 22/05/2012 21:33

Oh, I love people names for animals- we had a cat called Colin where I used to work, suited him so well.

Our first cat was originally called Bob, but it got confusing as we had a close friend called Bob, and I was quite Shock when my flatmate stormed in to tell me he had shat in the middle of the hall. So we changed the cat's name to Hobbes (as the other Bob wasn't amenable to changing his Grin

chickensaregreen · 22/05/2012 21:33

I knew an Irish Wolfhound called Trevor. Also a David, not Dave, David.

BikeRunSki · 22/05/2012 21:36

My cat is called Eddie. He is registered at the vet as Edward Gray-Catt. Neither DH or I are called Gray or Catt, but my vet has a sense of humour. He is also very easy on the eye and fell runs. Fulfills my fantasy Archers' lifestyle.

stleger · 22/05/2012 22:05

Our dog is Max, named in the rescue centre. When he is in the park with Charlie, Morgan, Luke, Jack and the rest of the gang it does sound like a pre-school outing. I like old man and old lady names for dogs, like Kenneth Smile

mamzellerougier · 23/05/2012 11:00

My black lab is called Steve, it really suits him.

TheCunnyFunt · 23/05/2012 12:00

lilibet · 23/05/2012 12:09

My friend has a cat called Barry

AdoraBell · 28/05/2012 04:29

We had a dog for a very short timeSad, he weedled his way in and despite me telling DCs he's not staying they said, oh but we want to call him Charlieeeeeeee. Now, we're in Chile, so I was quite surprised when, on hearing about the new addition, the builder working on our house -Carlos- said "yo soy Charlie". I didn't know he used the English version for his nicknameBlush

AdoraBell · 28/05/2012 04:30

Justfeckingdoit · 28/05/2012 06:33

I had a horse called Stanley :)

WoodRose · 28/05/2012 11:13

When I was a child we had a beagle named Sidney and a collie cross which I acquired during a pretentious teenage phase and named Kafka. Blush

I have since owned Rosie (border collie); Freddie (springer spaniel) and currently have Ruby (red and white collie). Our neighbours have a rottweiler pup which they have named Ronnie Smile

JuliaScurr · 28/05/2012 11:24

SaggyCeratops · 29/05/2012 23:43

My dog is called Corky. He was the big; stuck puppy, the one that gives much grief and is usually born dead. The vet had to pull him out. He old me "his one will be born dead," gave a yank, and handed me this slimy, black blob. I rubbed his chest and blew in his race, until he started to breathe. I took a look in his face and said "this one will be called Corky then". And that's been him, ever since!
His SISTER is called Bernard! Confused

SaggyCeratops · 29/05/2012 23:49

We also had a horse called Stanley. He was a miserable git! My lovely friend who does Reiki, told me that he was depressed, because he hated his name, and because people kept saying that he was chestnut, and in his opinion, he was strawberry roan! he never was, he was chestnut with the odd white hair!
We changed his name to 'Roan 'un'. He became a much happier horse! Confused
