i need to rehome a dog

this is killing me but i have one unhappy doodle :( he needs constant attention which i cant give him. he needs more exercise thwn i can give him.

he is a fab dog, i love him, buit i hate seeing him unhappy. he is loyal, obidenent, walks fab on lead. but vocal about everything. especially his unhappiness.

i dont know what to do :( i want him happy and secure.

Oh misdee Sad. Is there no way at all you can work around it? Poor you. I guess the first thing to do would be to contact the breeder. She should take him back.

i have left a message for the breeder, but i think she is at work today.

i am sobbing, but i just cant do anymore. he sat howling at the back door yesterday as i had to stop playing with him to feed the baby.

where are you? Maybe you can hire a dog walker to take him out for you?

am in herts.

is it daft that i dont trust a dogwalker? mainly my view has been clouded by the local one who is a grump. and i think has a shock collor on one of the dogs :(

i suffer from severe pnd and my anxiety is awful atm. am getting so upset at the thought of letting my gorgeous Tom-boy go :(

misdee, there will be more than one dog walker in your area. Ring your vets and petshop, they will probably have the numbers of someone. Ask for references from them and if makes you feel better go along on the first few walks.

I would be more anxious trying to rehome to the right people than i would finding a dogwalker.

got to call the breeder in a mo when ds stops crying and i stop as well.

will look around for a dog walker as well, but def not going to grumpy old git.

Was going to offer for you to bring him here for a couple of weeks break, for me to spend some time and put some work in and you to take back as and when you felt ready, but can see you've already got it in hand.

Don't hesitate to yell if things change and I can help.

thanks val. the breeder/good friend of mine, sayds if things def dont work out here with him, she will take him and find him a new home, or if it came to it, she would keep him.

You poor thing. It sounds as though the PND is having its way. We still have a runaway dog which is bloody awful and not long ago I would gladly have shot him. I didn't want the body to deal with and I don't have a gun, so it didn't happen. The behaviourist hasn't suggested anything new, and I am in no position to deliver punishment, so we rumble on, for now. I do hope you feel better soon.

i know its v likely the pnd winning, and i hate it, as its destroying me, but i dont want it making my tom unhappy. he deserves better.

he is going tonight. breeders dh is about from tonight oonwards so many hands make light work etc.

going to miss my tom.

I' m so sorry Misdee. I've read your other threads and know how hard you've tried to make it work. Just keep thinking of it as a break. Hopefully you'll be feeling better soon. I'm sure the breeder will be able to do some good work with his training too.

pnd hasn't won...rather, you've taken charge by doing what you need to give yourself the break you need, to deal with it. xxxx

We had a similar situation before/after our DS was born and was . Our dog was brilliant but very demanding and he wasn't happy and he was sending my stress levels though the roof and i was started to resent him for it. We rehomed him with family friends and I felt fucking hideous about it but it was the best thing we could have done. After he had gone we all realised how much calmer the house was without him and now I dont regret it for a mili-second.

Very vocal dogs are hard to live with at the best of times. It's not something i could live with at the best of times.

Don't beat yourself up about it :)

had an update already, he is settling in ok. and been carrerring round her garden (which is huge!).

am very releived that we got the dogs from her as she is excellant. and always on hand.
