Send your questions to The Dog Whisperer, Cesar Millan

Great news for all those in The Dog House. We've been given the opportunity to send our canine questions to none other than the Dog Whisperer himself, Cesar Millan. Cesar is over in the UK to promote his forthcoming new series of the UK version of 'The Dog Whisperer' which will be aired in UK on Nat Geo Wild in early February 2011. We'll be filming some members of Mumsnet HQ (plus dogs) putting your questions to Cesar in January and we will be airing the film across the site at the end of January, to coincide with the launch of his new series. To stand a chance of getting your question to Cesar, post them to this thread before end of Tuesday 21st December 2010.

ILoveItWhenYouCallMeBoo, that's not an "electric shock collar" which is what I was asking for proof of.

ok well discard the youtube clip then. you are ignoring the proof of him stating in his own book of a time when he used it. is that enough proof for you to believe he used it? or is cesar a liar?

If we don't ask any questions he won't need to come.

Definately no questions from me!!!!!!

This webchat is a bad idea surely - will read the thread now.

I would like to ask him to explain his training methods to those on here (and other places) who dont agree with him. Maybe he could say why he doesnt use reward based training - although in a few episodes I have watched he does use treats/clickers or shows the owners how to do it.

There are aspects of the 'psychology' that I find interesting to watch and other things that I abhore, but I am not getting into a conversation or argument with anyone on here about it.

Would he like to rehome a Cane Corso? Xmas Grin

ACtually, I am being serious about the dog rehoming.

JUSTINE - Having a popular telly show does not justify giving anyone a forum to promote cruel, discredited training methods.

Minimu & Valhalla - see you at NetMums!Grin

The thing is, even if you remove the animal welfare slant from the argument, his methods endanger the owners. It's totally irresponsible to promote that.

I still want to know what's in it for MNHQ to have this appalling man on the boards, particularly now they have seen what a shit he is.

Or is it just that they feel too embarrassed to go back to him and say, "Erm, actually, we've changed our mind. You aren't needed after all, our members think you're a complete shit."?

Because if that's all it is, there's no problem. I'll willingly tell him for you MNHQ.

My god, MNHQ - I knew you didn't know much about dogs but I didn't realise how ignorant you were.

Joint statement by RSPCA etc condemning Millan

But really, if you think you know better than all those organisations, go ahead with it MNHQ.

How very strange it won't be a live webchat. But then, Cesar is a huge fan of editing.

Perhaps you ought to hand out Nestle chocs to those 'lucky' enuogh to have their questions chosen Hmm

Justine got a dog recently, I believe.

I hope for its sake she doesn't use Cesar's methods Sad

Jax - DH says yes to re-homing your Cane Corso.

He wouldn't be living with me anymore if he does though Xmas Wink

Seriously though, why does it need re-homing (how bad is it Xmas Wink)

Jax - I can put you in touch with a reputable large breed rescue for your Cane Corso if you need one.

This'll be interesting then. I guess we'll get a load of new members too all wanting to give Cesar Millan a piece of their mind about his cruel and dangerous methods.

Report
Bella32 · 20/12/2010 19:45

No, that won't happen Paisley. Question by 21 December, filming in January.

I suspect questions like 'why did you pin that poor dog to that garage floor so hard and so long it peed itself in fear' will not be chosen by old Cesar.

I'd link you, but that clip got pulled, along with many others.

The editing room floor at Cesar's place is littered with much suffering Sad

We will if the proposal gets put on Facebook and others get to hear about the idea, PaisleyLeaf. Wink

Am very disappointed to see this and quite frankly, very surprised. Anyone who has spent any time reading threads in the Doghouse will know the strength of feeling about his methods and seen the fantastic advice given by Minimu, Midori, Valhalla, Bella etc which is diametrically opposed to his methods.

However, maybe this could be a positive and make more people aware of the current positive methods in dog training

Leroy 'But,

She is impossible to walk on a lead. She is so strong and pulls alot.'

My trainer told me to walk The Devil Dog around in a circle by my side as soon as the leash tightens.

Your doberman is pulling to get to where she wants to be faster and the pulling is rewarded because it works. You need to take away the reward.

If this won't work, ask Midori. You will get more sense out of her than CM. I would not be using any of his techniques on a Doberman. Not if I valued my limbs much, anyway.
