A 3 part drama staring the lovely Kelley Hayes on fir 3 nights in a row on bbc 1

Sunbathing on her hotel room balcony while on a dream holiday with her family and friends, Jo’s (Keeley Hawes) world is turned upside down when shots ring out across the complex.

Gunmen, out for revenge, have, in an instant, turned a slice of paradise into a terrifying heart-breaking hell.

A story of survival and resilience, Crossfire is an edge-of-your-seat nail-biting thriller yet also emotional, intimate and relatable.

With the unsuspecting holidaymakers and hotel staff forced to make monumental split-second life or death decisions, the consequences will linger long after the final shots are fired.

The show’s writer Louise Doughty added: “This is a drama about a group of ordinary people caught up in an extraordinary event - a gun attack on the hotel where they are staying. In extremity, each character is faced with a set of dilemmas: and at the heart of it is Jo, who booked the holiday and unknowingly put her family and friends - and herself - at risk.

"I'm fascinated by the idea of how so-called ordinary people respond to intense pressure and I couldn't be more excited to have written this drama for Dancing Ledge Productions and the BBC and to have the amazing Keeley Hawes in the star role."

have a great cast in it

Keeley Hawes (It’s A Sin, Bodyguard, Line of Duty)
Josette Simon (Small Axe, Riviera)
Anneika Rose (Deadwater Fell, Line of Duty)
Lee Ingleby (The A Word, The Serpent Queen, Criminal UK)
Daniel Ryan (The Bay, Home Fires)

Started off amazing but I then found myself getting quite bored and rolling my eyes at parts. About to watch Ep3 so looking forward to seeing how it ends then will head over to the spoiler thread!

This was me .
I also find her character a bit silly . She makes a big issue of being an ex police officer yet constantly falls apart and bottles it when she should have shot him .

Crossfire must be so triggering for the people who survived the Tunisia beach shooting. So chilling.

the80sweregreat · 22/09/2022 17:42

I thought about the Tunisia shootings too :(

Lucy Mangan's review of this is brilliant and witty:

Piggywaspushed · 22/09/2022 17:59

Whoops! Missed it had been posted!

Worth reading again...

Just been watching the first two. Was really gripped by the first episode but the second one was a bit samey with everyone running everywhere.

Someone said the police had been called shortly after the shootings started. Well, they're certainly taking their time getting there , probably don't want their siesta interrupted .

Afterfire · 22/09/2022 18:19

I’ve given up towards the end of episode 2. Bored to tears!

I must be easily pleased and easily scared.
I found it tense.
Looking forward to tonight's episode.

Well now do you all believe me about it being shite?Grin

Piggywaspushed · 22/09/2022 22:16

Soooo dull....

Twonewcats · 22/09/2022 22:28

This was much better than the C5 dramas but was similar in so many ways to the one where Jill Halfpenny goes on holiday with 3 other families. Even down to her being a cop.

Blondeshavemorefun · 22/09/2022 23:37

It wasn’t that bad 😂

tho amazed her hubby survives that fall without a broken back or neck

yet Ben died from a stab wound

ironic jo was the only one whose husband survived

not sure why wife of sexting bloke asked other lady to look at phone

did she know /suspect

or was it as showed on screen texts from
jo

wasn’t a bad drama imo

I enjoyed it. I assume the wife had suspicions that her DH was up to no good, hence asking friend to check his phone, but had no clue it was KH's character.

I agree.

Blondeshavemorefun · 23/09/2022 07:41

He was slimy though

running finger up her naked back

if someone did that to me I would squirm
and say what the fuck are you doing

makes you wonder if he was unfaithful before that hence wife’s suspicions

OP posts:
Clawdy · 23/09/2022 08:09

Yes, that was an odd thing to do to an old friend. And she looked surprised and pleased!

CornishTiger · 23/09/2022 08:10

I think for me the scene she asked her friend to check over the phone and delete anything she wouldn’t want to see spoke volumes.

CornishTiger · 23/09/2022 08:19

I think she knew he had flirtations as a minimum. She was the passive dutiful wife. She wasn’t going to rock the boat. Yet she never suspected it to be Jo.

Grieving a partner then discovering an affair just hit me.

PigsInBlanketyBlankets · 23/09/2022 08:23

Did he survive without a broken neck/back? I thought he was in recovery at the end and very much injured.

Blondeshavemorefun · 23/09/2022 09:15

He was walking with a stick at her awards

they asked if he could do stairs when he came home

I expected him to be legs in plaster - perm wheelchair - neck brace etx

I agree.

By asking her friend to delete any messages she wouldn't want to see was, without a doubt, telling us viewers he had form.
