A 3 part drama staring the lovely Kelley Hayes on fir 3 nights in a row on bbc 1

Sunbathing on her hotel room balcony while on a dream holiday with her family and friends, Jo’s (Keeley Hawes) world is turned upside down when shots ring out across the complex.

Gunmen, out for revenge, have, in an instant, turned a slice of paradise into a terrifying heart-breaking hell.

A story of survival and resilience, Crossfire is an edge-of-your-seat nail-biting thriller yet also emotional, intimate and relatable.

With the unsuspecting holidaymakers and hotel staff forced to make monumental split-second life or death decisions, the consequences will linger long after the final shots are fired.

The show’s writer Louise Doughty added: “This is a drama about a group of ordinary people caught up in an extraordinary event - a gun attack on the hotel where they are staying. In extremity, each character is faced with a set of dilemmas: and at the heart of it is Jo, who booked the holiday and unknowingly put her family and friends - and herself - at risk.

"I'm fascinated by the idea of how so-called ordinary people respond to intense pressure and I couldn't be more excited to have written this drama for Dancing Ledge Productions and the BBC and to have the amazing Keeley Hawes in the star role."

How many episodes is it? I must admit wondering after about half an hour or so, how it could be sustained for more than a couple!

Ah, sorry, it’s in the title of the thread, duh!

the80sweregreat · 21/09/2022 12:43

Three episodes.
I found it intriguing, but I really want that man to find the children who he sent away :(
(I'm a bit confused with who is who with their family dynamics.)
Putting on her trainers was a great move.
People running about with flip flops on was making me feel uncomfortable.
Keeley hawes is a good actress.

Loved it!

I've watched all the episodes, the above review is based on the first episode.

As a family, we did stay in a similar tourist complex in Spain - which certainly ramped up the tension. One man got very friendly with me, I kept my distance!, always doing the laundry when I was there, he came in after. Bit creepy. Both ex husband and I were very much loved up then, despite all the children being 12, 10 and 4.

Aroundthebend · 21/09/2022 15:13

Excellent review!
l’ e watched all three episodes now and I had to suspend reality a little as it was slightly ridiculous in parts and my shouting at the Tv was upsetting the cats!

ThisUserNameIsAvailableOk · 21/09/2022 15:17

"your partner doesn’t know it , if have one

friends don’t know mine but dh does"

DH doesn't know mine, I know the same of many others. I know one or two that share passcodes. My point is there's no "norm" and I don't think they were getting at that.

Are all episodes on iPlayer now then? Might finish it off tonight

Blondeshavemorefun · 21/09/2022 17:11

daffodilandtulip · 21/09/2022 20:44

Ooo I've missed this! Catch up time for me, thank you!

Blueberrycreampie · 21/09/2022 21:15

They announced this was a different episode to that advertised - anyone know why? I thought there were only 3.

northender · 21/09/2022 21:18

It was supposed to be Mon Tues Wed

Blueberrycreampie · 21/09/2022 21:24

Ah I understand!

Always4Brenner · 21/09/2022 21:28

At last something different I’ll give this a go.

TitsInAbsentia · 21/09/2022 22:11

Not bad so far, just going on to ep 2, but no idea why the hotel boss/concierge gave her a bloody shot gun, I mean, she was hardly a firearms cop.

watcherintherye · 21/09/2022 22:26

I am enjoying it, but maybe shouldn’t have read the very funny Guardian review. The tense scenes with Keeley Hawes and the security manager guiding half a dozen people through (many) corridors had dh and I giggling, rather than on the edge of our seats!

LadyEloise1 · 21/09/2022 23:35

I think it's very good.
I have seen 2 episodes.

Blondeshavemorefun · 22/09/2022 04:01

Just finished e2

looks at snoring baby over shoulder

getting more tense

tho is this all in 30m as that’s when help is meant to be arriving

so now her lover and hubby both dead

surprised no blood from hubbys head hitting the floor

poor mateo being shot. He’s a good manager trying to save everyone

Hope he lives

big brother is intent on killing everyone

little brother having guilt /can’t always do it

and waiter in kitchen

hope jo shoots younger brother in the roof tomorrow

Clawdy · 22/09/2022 08:11

Keeley's daughter looks almost the same age as her.

blobby10 · 22/09/2022 09:13

Watched the first two eps last night - like others I had to suspend disbelief at some points - is that really the way to hold a shotgun? I have no idea but it looked weird! It will be interesting to see the final episode later just to see who survives! And yes Clawdy I agree that Jo's daughter looks almost the same age!

VinoDino · 22/09/2022 10:11

Started off amazing but I then found myself getting quite bored and rolling my eyes at parts. About to watch Ep3 so looking forward to seeing how it ends then will head over to the spoiler thread!

the80sweregreat · 22/09/2022 12:20

If only the government could send Keeley Hawes and a double barrel shot gun over to see off Valdimir Putin.
The hotel seems to be expanding as time moves on as well!

the80sweregreat · 22/09/2022 12:36

Is Jo meant to be fire armed trained. Do we know? Dh said she handled the gun well ( he owns an air gun, which is different admittedly) are all police officers trained to use one?
I wouldn't have a clue myself. I'd Probably end up shooting myself!

ThisUserNameIsAvailableOk · 22/09/2022 12:49

She said "yes" when asked if she could use a gun.

No, all police officers aren't firearms trained
