Here we go again!

Working single mum of 4.

Supposedly above the poverty line, living in appalling conditions.

Is anyone watching? Are any politicians watching?

Because this is reality. For millions of people.

Anyone?

OP posts:
BAFE · 27/05/2010 21:13

they strike me as a family who are not as rich as they would like people to think they are (the rich ones, obviously).

WetAugust · 27/05/2010 21:14

Yes I'm watching.

In those conditions I don't think I would be having more children though.

BitterAndTwistedChoreDodger · 27/05/2010 21:14

Hey Expat, I'm watching! Wondered if anyone had started a thread.

What do you think so far?

expatinscotland · 27/05/2010 21:14

She did say she'd chosen to have 4.

OP posts:
EvaBrick · 27/05/2010 21:15

She has four kids by three different men. Can't blame the politicians for that.

expatinscotland · 27/05/2010 21:15

DH had to pause it, though, to tell off the girls, who are still playing up.

BitterAndTwistedChoreDodger · 27/05/2010 21:15

The rich house was no here near as grand as some of the others.

WetAugust · 27/05/2010 21:16

Rich house was just temp accomm while their new house is being built

BitterAndTwistedChoreDodger · 27/05/2010 21:17

Ah, must have missed that WA.

expatinscotland · 27/05/2010 21:19

She does chose to work, though. She did say she could go on Income Support, but she would rather not.

OP posts:
BitterAndTwistedChoreDodger · 27/05/2010 21:20

But her childcare costs are £1200!

Lovely kids though.

expatinscotland · 27/05/2010 21:20

She didn't think she'd wind up doing it on her own, too.

£3000 is a fortune.

OP posts:
expatinscotland · 27/05/2010 21:21

Yes, but she does go out to work.

OP posts:
muggglewump · 27/05/2010 21:22

I'm watching, I do every week and always feel uncomfortable.

Perhaps it's because it could be me? (the poor ones obv!)

I do wonder why they often have so many children though, I mean I stopped at one, for many reasons but money was one of them.

I also missed the temp accom thing, and did exclaim 'a new bulid, in MK' Clearly I'm still somewhat a snob, in my crappy house

BitterAndTwistedChoreDodger · 27/05/2010 21:23

Oh, I'm not having a go at her for working

I just don't know how you can live knowing your outgoings are more than your income.

expatinscotland · 27/05/2010 21:23

She was with partners at the time she had those kids.

OP posts:
MollieO · 27/05/2010 21:23

Good that she is working. £1200 childcare costs for two children is pretty cheap. Round here you'll pay £900 per child.

Interesting to see how this develops. Also interesting that wealthy family know what it is like to not have much money - lost business previously.

MollieO · 27/05/2010 21:24

Grandma seems very nice.

BitterAndTwistedChoreDodger · 27/05/2010 21:24

MK houseprices are shocking, that's why we had to move if we wanted to buy a house.

expatinscotland · 27/05/2010 21:25

the gran's really helpful.

OP posts:
EvaBrick · 27/05/2010 21:26

I need subtitles for the poor family.

expatinscotland · 27/05/2010 21:27

You do?

I'm foreign and can understand them perfectly.

OP posts:
WetAugust · 27/05/2010 21:27

Me too. The boys seem to have copied the mum's very indistict pronunciation.

BitterAndTwistedChoreDodger · 27/05/2010 21:28

No probs understanding them here, but then I'm common as muck
