Was on here so only saw blood-drinking out of the corner of my eyes. Multi-tasking, you see.

2shoes · 18/05/2010 22:25

it wasn't nice, but then I expected it not to be nice.

DH was watching it but I really didn't like it. He turned it over in the end - probably as I was crinching so much! Eurgh.

Andy1964 · 19/05/2010 11:29

Your all just too girlie

It was a good one last night, caught the evil bugger in the end, not by the most proper policing policies but got him none the less.

DW watched it with me but then she likes that sort of thing.

I think its all a bit more like a film to me, I thought it was going to be a gritty police drama but things are very far fetched, like watching a film.

Good though, it's growing on me

GettinTrimmer · 19/05/2010 11:40

I found it disturbing, but was riveted and wanted to know what happened.

That Alice Morgan is weird - their relationship is very unbelievable but I find it interesting. I like Ruth Jones, great actress.

JeffVadar · 19/05/2010 11:58

Yep, turned over . I knew when he started liking her face that I just wasn't going to enjoy it - especially as there was a sweet little baby in it!

Watched recorded Wallander instead about a teenage hitman. Much more uplifting .

Raahh · 19/05/2010 12:01

I wanted to like this sooo much, but it was all very serial killer by numbers, and a bit too Hannibal Lector. But Idris is too gorgeous to miss....
The most disturbing bit, I found, was when he bloke licked the woman's face at the beginning- that was very ewwww

Raahh · 19/05/2010 12:02

x-post re licking- it was just gross!

Oblomov · 19/05/2010 12:16

raahh, i too wanted to like it, but i actually think its a bit naff. am currently watching ashes to ashes, pacific, true blood and prisoner. shame 3 of the 4 are about to end. not sure whether to continu with prisoner and luther.
have them all on sky+, so we'll see.

2shoes · 19/05/2010 12:28

i like it(and didn't find last nights bad)
but.....I do wish they would slow down, they don't give you any back ground.
like waking the dead on a diet

gingercat12 · 19/05/2010 13:20

Found it very disturbing, and turned the sound down when she was looking so scared.

GhostInTheBackOfYourHead · 19/05/2010 13:24

The bit before he started licking her face but slowly extended his tongue was truly horrific.

I did watch the whole show though, mainly for the thrill of watching Idris Elba's sexy gorgeousness acting abilities

Highlander · 19/05/2010 16:18

Idris really is lush talented. The beard would have to go though if he came knocking on my door

Highlander · 19/05/2010 16:19

did anyone think the wierdo killer bore more than a passing resemblance to George osbourne?

UptoapointLordCopper · 19/05/2010 17:36

At first I thought it was Nick Clegg, then he did become more and more George Osborne. Spooky, isn't it?

SongBiird · 19/05/2010 19:54

Not really liking it, seems pretty poor adaptation of american cop shows. keep hoping it gets better.

chesgirlNOTgriffins · 19/05/2010 20:05

Turned it over as so as he looked at the baby. I really hated the bit with the poor woman weeing her in terror.

I have just had a baby and am still at that wimpy stage.

I spent the whole of my pregnancy glued to the Crime and Investigation channel. Now I watch reruns of Born and Bred

Lovecat · 20/05/2010 00:00

So am I the only one who thinks he can't act to save his life, then? I quite like the far-fetched storylines but him!! And the one who plays his wife, I'm sure I've seen her be good in something, but she's just a nobboid in this - possibly the part rather than her, but Jesus, the way she just stands there looking at him with her mouth half-open - really?

Agree that the tongue bit before the licking was horrible. Mind you, the minute he knocked on the door I was shouting 'he's on his own, a policeman would never do that on his own, don't let him in!'

DH is transfixed by Alice Morgan's eyebrows. I did a double-take when I read GettinTrimmer's post about Ruth Jones being the actress involved - now I'd like to see Luther facing down Nessa! But Ruth Wilson is fab too.

mehdismummy · 20/05/2010 08:47

who cares about idris acting trust me i am not watching him for that!!

omnishambles · 20/05/2010 08:52

I didnt like it at all - and the next weeks trailer looked like it had used the Ipswich murders as an inspiration and after watching five daughters I think its a bit beyond the pale tbh - in fact watching five daughters has changed a lot of these programmes for me.

chesgirlNOTgriffins · 20/05/2010 10:24

What is that accent all about?

MrsMcNulty · 20/05/2010 11:14

I'm so glad someone started a thread on this as DH and I both decided to turn over as soon as the killer opened the box and got his instruments out and she started screaming - way too sick for us, if I wnated to watch something like that I would watch Hostel or something...
a shame because Idris Elba is indeed lovely and just so biiiig [simle] and as you can tell from my name I am a big Wire fan and loved him in that too,
can anyone tell me what happened please? was it as grim as it looked like it was going to be?
why do they need to show so much horror - surely the policing side of it is much more interesting (and watching Luther in action much better than watching terrified women being tortured etc.)
urgh

MrsMcNulty · 20/05/2010 11:14

of course I meant to

mrsruffallo · 20/05/2010 11:18

I hated it from the opening scene.
This semsationalist blood fests are getting out of control.
I am tired of hearing women screaming in pain at the hands of men in TV programmes

MrsMcNulty · 20/05/2010 11:56

I agree, how many women will my children see tortured/raped/murdered for "entertainment" by the time they are adults?
there were warnings before the programme that it would be "disturbing", well why create it like a torture porn flick then put viewers off with this?
and it's always women shown like this - men are dispatched quickly with a bullet etc., we are not invited to revel in their terror/torture in this way
