What a great episode this week. The families involved were lovely.

Did anyone think Jessica (girl in rich family) looked just like the girl in the Dairy Milk ad? It bugged me the whole way through....

Was a great episode this week.

My Dh and I were trying to work out whereabout the family live (the poor one) as we know the area well.

I also recognised the CAP worker as have worked with her previously in another job.

I think it would be interesting if they go back in a year or so to see what happens next.

Monty100 · 16/04/2010 00:09

I would have loved it if it were filmed a while ago and we could see how she was doing. It was a great episode and agree both families were lovely. So, looking forward to a success story there .

I was blubbing lol.

satc2bringiton · 16/04/2010 08:35

Just had a look at the website, and the food looks lovely but all quite expensive.

Hope it works out for them but it's way out of my price range.

Wasn't it lovely to see lovely families on both sides? Often there is one 'half' which seems considerably pleasanter than the other!

But I thought both families were lovely, genuine, thoughtful.

Would be good to see a follow up.

violethill · 16/04/2010 09:19

Jeez that's expensive food though!!!

phoenixflower · 16/04/2010 09:30

Anyone have a link to her site? Tried googling it but nothing came up!

kittya · 16/04/2010 10:25

I havent seen this weeks but I loved last weeks even if the son reminded me of David Cameron!! Im sick of reading the criticisms in the right on press saying how patronising it is. I think its a great idea, especially if theres a good outcome. It would be very interesting to see how they all pan out.

Hairytoes · 16/04/2010 10:52

here

£16.50 for a bowl of lettuce for six

Monty100 · 16/04/2010 11:40

Are any of you as sad as me and wondered if she was an mner??

No,seriously.

SkipHopJump · 16/04/2010 13:37

Bionicear- was it Morecambe?

PigeonPair · 16/04/2010 18:04

I confess I blubbed the whole way through!

BionicEar · 16/04/2010 23:16

Yep Morecambe area - although maybe Heysham?!!!

We recognised various places - couldn't work out how she started out shopping in Morecambe in Morrision then ended up in Booths in Lancaster! There was also another supermarket at one point I'm sure which was back in the Morecambe area! Prob done on purpose to confuse viewers who know the area!

Will just have to keep eye out for van next time on my travels!

kittya · 18/04/2010 01:31

I cried from start to finish. I couldnt understand why the dole werent paying her rent in the beginning??? what lovely families, im dying to know what happens!

kittya · 18/04/2010 01:35

the food is aimed at business's and posh parties, Id have thought.

BelleDeChocolateFluffyBunny · 18/04/2010 01:38

Goodness that food's really expensive!

kittya · 18/04/2010 01:53

I know. Probably for corporate do's. I cant help thinking that she would have more luck in the Buckinghamshire area where the rich family where!

RebeccaRabbit · 18/04/2010 08:35

Hope she doesn't cook it in her own kitchen.

Polgara2 · 18/04/2010 09:29

Well indeed RR where does she cook it I wonder? It is very expensive though isn't it? Do people really pay those prices? (especially outside the south - I am oop north btw and I clearly move in the wrong circles if this is the norm ).

Polgara2 · 18/04/2010 09:30

Oops forgot to say thought is was a really good episode and loved both families. Really hope this works for her as well.

Blondeshavemorefun · 18/04/2010 09:36

Annie was the girl. I dont know how well the company will be doing in the middle of a recession. If she is into catering surely she couldve gone for a cheaper idea, maybe knocking the organic part off? Tbh, and this is going to sound harsh, theres nothing inspiring on that menu that you couldnt do yourself.

BelleDeChocolateFluffyBunny · 18/04/2010 14:31

I know what you mean Kitty, bread rolls?? You can get some really scrummy ones from Waitrose for a fraction of the price. I did think when she served up the casserole and named her company that there was a bit of marketing going on. The last series appeared to have a couple of families who were out for all they could get, this series seems to be families who are after jobs or marketing their business, I prefer this to the last series though, I still remember then woman who brought a laptop for herself. I do get a little at the hints though ("I don't have a computer" "We have lots of bills" etc)
I know it's all edited though.

kittya · 18/04/2010 14:45

Its completely edited and the families with money must be told all the ins and outs before hand and they will have a limit to what they will give. Like the Secret Millionaire, I always think thats fixed. Its nice to see the families getting on well though. I mean how do they chose the poorer family in the first place? I dont know really, we do watch some rubbish!! Im sure we do it just to make ourselves cry. I cant see that catering company lasting again, people are cutting back too much.

BelleDeChocolateFluffyBunny · 18/04/2010 14:52

I don't know, maybe they get sent a list?? There's so many families living in poverty in the UK though, it must be really difficult to choose. I would like to see a homeless family helped though, they really do have nothing. If I had the cash I'd do it myself for someone.

I can't see the company lasting either, it's really expensive. Why pay £12 for a basket of bread when you can do it yourself for £5??
