There were no topless barmaids when I went there. Shocking. lol

DrNortherner · 31/03/2010 21:35

Oh a night out in the Boro was something special. I was an Arena gal myself, and would also go in Th Corner house, Wickers World and The Maddison on ocassions. Followed by a parmo in The Europa at the end of the night.

Ah the Europa followed by a taxi scrum outside of kfc . I am far classier in my maturer years.

poshtottie · 31/03/2010 21:45

Parmos were not invented in my time.

Do you remember Redcar baths? Knocked down now. I went to my first concert in the Coatham bowl and had my first snog at the end of saltburn pier!

I remember the baths. And the Amusements next door. Used to love the waltzers.

Did you read the thread about where not to live. Middlesbrough and Redcar seemed to be mentioned quite a lot.

BythewayItsBratley · 01/04/2010 20:15

I remember the baths! Just about!
For some reason, I remember Eston baths as having a kind of submarine hatch thingy to go through to get out of the changing rooms!
Think I must have had a really vivid imagination when I was younger.

Lovetts! Thats what the amusements was called.
Used to go there a lot when I was little.

DrNortherner · 01/04/2010 21:42

Oh god yes Lovatts!

Redacr baths had one of those freezing cold foot bath things to wade through before you got in the pool to kill of germs and stuff.

Where is the thread about where not to live?

Eeek, I'd forgotten about the sheep dip foot pool! And saltburn had one didnt they!?
The pools were freezing aswell as the foot dip!
Yet it was always baking in Saltburn baths, then you'd get in the water and it'd stop your breathing it was so cold!

I read somewhere not so long ago that redcar is one of the most depressed towns in the uk.
One of the highest rates of people on anti depressants.

DrNortherner · 01/04/2010 22:02

I think I'd be depressed if I still lived there.........although it will always have a place in my heart.

Locke park is a dump now and I thought it was amazing as a kid.

That is a shame about Locke Park as it was a lovely park once upon a time.
