No Zoe's Place is in Normanby I think, or Eston...?

The Stead has just been moved to a new site, more facilities.

I met DH in the Deck!
Only 7 years ago.
I think everyone knows the Deck, old or young!

Leo's has gone now, and Sharkeys... not such a bad thing though!
We're visiting family for Easter, might have a night out in Redcar, see if its like it used to be!

poshtottie · 31/03/2010 12:25

Leos was great when it first opened. The deck used to play herb Alberts "This guys in love with you" at the end, just to empty the place.

Bytheway, I think you are a lot younger than me.

BythewayItsBratley · 31/03/2010 13:21

I haven't a clue who Herb Albert is....

I have only ever been in Leo's a few times cos I was never drunk enough I'm a wimp and wouldn't walk along the seafront to get there!
It was rotten and pretty damn scary!

poshtottie · 31/03/2010 14:20

It never was unsafe when I grew up. I often walked home at 2am in the morning. There was always loads of people around. I wouldn't do it now though anywhere!

BythewayItsBratley · 31/03/2010 14:27

Sorry, I meant Leo's was rotten and scary! Not the seafront, that was just bloody freezing! lol

poshtottie · 31/03/2010 14:29

Oh right. lol.

Its freezing even in summer.

DrNortherner · 31/03/2010 14:33

I had many a great night in the deck, also used to frequent Revels, Sharkeys, Leos and The Hydro. The Clarendon (Clarrie) was quite popular too. Oh and I sam 2 unlimited live in Manhattans!

I used to walk along the sefront wearing next to nothing on a night out and never felt the cold.

Zoes place is in Normanby. Sids place was in what used to be Westredcar school (my old school)

He stayed in Southbank I reckon. It was not Dormanstown as that's where I am from and I did not recognsie it at all.

How old are you guys and what school did you go to? Wonder if we know each other.....

poshtottie · 31/03/2010 14:45

I used to go to the Hydro and to the Clarendon.

I went to Bydales but lived in Redcar. Am in my forties.

Yes would always go out without a coat in the middle of winter.

DrNortherner · 31/03/2010 14:49

Ah, older than me then, I am 33.

My first ever job was a Saturday girl in Boyes stores on the high street.

I'm the youngest once again!

Bet you know some of the same teachers as me Poshtottie. Some of mine had been there forever!

Have you seen the new school?

BythewayItsBratley · 31/03/2010 15:12

Eeeek! Not saying your old! Just that some of them were pretty much born and died in there!

poshtottie · 31/03/2010 15:26

i didn't know they had a new school there now. Must admit the old one looked like a prison rarther than a school.

I went to my school reunion in the Clarendon a few years ago and hardly anyone recognised me. They thought I was far too posh to have gone to Byedales. lol have a southern accent now.

DrNortherner · 31/03/2010 17:01

The new Byedales is a bit of an eyesore tbh, bright blue it is!

I am off to Marske on Sunday - taing mu mum and gran to lunch at The Yorkshire Lass!

OP posts:
poshtottie · 31/03/2010 17:07

Now I grew up in New Marske aswell. My mum was a barmaid at the Yorkshire lass. (she'll hate me for sharing that)

BythewayItsBratley · 31/03/2010 18:22

YES Philmores They had the nightbuses home. Now that was a good night out.

BythewayItsBratley · 31/03/2010 20:38

Isn't it odd we're all on here from that area but we've all moved away?

People were already finding it hard to get work before Corus closed, I know people who have been out of work for ages, it'll be a whole lot worse now.
Lifelong work collegues competing against each other for work, its really sad.

My uncles already resigned himself to the fact he's going to be on benefits for the rest of his life, he's just too old to compete against younger people, he's really taken it badly.

nappyzoneloveslindor · 31/03/2010 20:40

lol poshtottie - i know the herp albert song well as a boro gal - they used to do the same in the Maddison where sadly i used to hang out! You cant beat redcar for a hangover cold wind blast!

poshtottie · 31/03/2010 20:48

nappy, my first boyfriend was from the boro and we used to go to all the pubs in town aswell.

There used to be a club which he took me to and his mum was horrified. It was quite rough but very hip at the time. IYSWIM

nappyzoneloveslindor · 31/03/2010 20:55

go on name and shame.... my parent were we used to hang out in deniros but my friend worked in there so it made for a free night. Ahh them were the days! Sadly i do love that song having had my first smooch with a pished dh to it !!!

poshtottie · 31/03/2010 20:58

We used to go to a bar called John Pauls (I think thats what it was called).

It just came to me as I could not for the life of me remember what it was called.
SPEAKEASY Not even sure that is right.

nappyzoneloveslindor · 31/03/2010 21:03

Billy Pauls?? Underneath Maddison??

poshtottie · 31/03/2010 21:04

OMG yes thats right. I thought I was really cool going there.

nappyzoneloveslindor · 31/03/2010 21:07

Off course you were lol - they had topless barmaids once over and you went in to get a half price ticket for upstairs lol.
