I love Mad Men but rarely see a thread. I want my Dh to dress like Don Draper
I'm wondering if I should spend the child benefit money on one of these dolls
Don
I also would love to have Betty's non interest in her children it would really free me up to go to the gym & have an affair

I love it. Favourite show atm.

Betty is excellent. Love the creative v accounts. brilliant

ArcticRoll · 19/03/2010 16:52

I adore Mad Men too-lol at the dolls and agree Betty's total neglect of children is fascinating-imagine her getting flamed on Mumsnet!

Starbear · 19/03/2010 16:52

Or this Joan
or this forbiddenplanet.com/52376-mad-men-barbie-betty-draper/betty OR should I spend the money on Joan style clothes? & shag my own husband

I LOVE LOVE LOVE Mad Men!

It is the highlight of my week.

I would do don draper, but wouldn't marry him.

Have you seen this site?

You could pass the link on to your dh

Starbear · 19/03/2010 16:53

have you seen this?

Starbear · 19/03/2010 16:56

Scrudd Thank you for that I have added it to my fav. I think the money would be better spent getting DH to dress like Don. He doesn't watch it so he doesn't know about the affairs. What do you think Don would wear as aftershave? That would add to my fantasy

OP posts:
Starbear · 19/03/2010 16:58

Artic roll yes but I can't get onto any more forums and chat I would never get anything done. I do like the site.

I even love the opening bit with the illustrations and music.

And Betty Draper is so pretty and looks great for the part. And the young Adman (account exec) is so cleverly cast....

Scrudd · 19/03/2010 16:59

I don't think he would wear old spice, he'd wear something more expensive, but I know nothing about 1960s aftershaves.

BexJ78 · 19/03/2010 17:02

i absolutely love it. i always amazes DH and me that no one else seems to have cottoned on to how brilliant it is! i want to be Joan!!!

Scrudd · 19/03/2010 17:03

I am delighted to discover that I am betty draper, according to arcticroll's link

Scrudd · 19/03/2010 17:03

My dh has a massive crush on Joan. Can't say I blame him

InThisSequinBraYesYouOlaJordan · 19/03/2010 17:04

It is my absolute favourite programme EVER. I can't believe more people don't watch it, I am dedicating life and box-set gifts to converting people.

I have already watched this series on-line and it is excellent - favourite episode: Roger's daughter's wedding - if you've clocked the date on the invitation the other week, you'll guess why - a real study in world history and events as well as a cracking watch.

Agree that Don is to do, not to marry.

I want to be Joan - I have the breasts but not the waist sadly.

BexJ78 · 19/03/2010 17:04

did you see the episode the other week, with the ride on mower. just hilarious.

MarshaBrady · 19/03/2010 17:06

I would much rather be Betty Draper - bored and beautiful. Joan doesn't do it for me!

Scrudd · 19/03/2010 17:07

hilarious, until she chopped that poor bloke's foot off! lol!

Loved it when peggy and the others smoked grass in the office, heheheeeeeee.

I don't know why more people don't watch it either perhaps they think that because it's on bbc4 that it will be dull and way to educational?

No spoilers please ITSBYY...

InThisSequinBraYesYouOlaJordan · 19/03/2010 17:08

Great line in that one, where Don rushes to the hospital and says to blood covered Joan: "God, how awful" and she replies "yes, it's ruined," glancing at her dress.

Also, that the hot shot can't work for the company anymore "how could he play golf?"

I heart the English characters in it!

BexJ78 · 19/03/2010 17:09

I have just done the quiz on the website, and i am joan! hoooraaahhh!

InThisSequinBraYesYouOlaJordan · 19/03/2010 17:09

Don't worry, I won't spoil - I hope that I haven't above, just want people to cancel any plans they have for the night that episode is broadcast!

ArcticRoll · 19/03/2010 17:10

I'm Joan too yay!

Scrudd · 19/03/2010 17:12

I love the way it is to true to societies norms of the time. All that daytime drinking and smoking over the baby.

There was an episode last series (i think, could have been two seasons ago) when don and betty had a picnic, he threw his beer can into a bush, and she picked up the picnic rug when packing up and left all the rubbish on the grass. Brilliant.

merrymonsters · 19/03/2010 19:04

God, that thing with the picnic rug really shocked me. It's fascinating - the smoking and the attitude towards (and groping of)the women in the office and Don Draper driving with a whisky in one hand.

I think that the facination is part of it with me, merrymonsters, it is quite shocking that those attiudes were just accpted as being normal. plus, DD is very very hot and also think roger sterling is not too bad! he has some of the best lines.

Barry that is too bad, PC is indeed odious (love that word!)

does anyone know if they have started filming series 4?
