Anyone watching? That man gives physics a very good name...

You don't get offered a position as a physics professor because of your looks usually.
What I love about Brian Cox is that he is so utterly enthusiastic about the world, the universe, the science behind it and that he is so very very good at conveying this enthusiasm. Nobody could possibly doubt his love for his subject.
And he is good at explaining things without making it sound dumbed down.

lol lowenergybulb, with that argument David Attenborough should have given up (given he only had a biology degree, and never worked in the field), let alone Kate Humble, who fell into the NHU present roles...the list goes on!

He's a good presenter with a decent scientific pedigree - and physics does not normally get much sexing up (I do not count richard hammond as sa good effort!!)

Lowenergy - Brian Cox has never claimed to be the best physicist in the world, but he has got a proper job in a proper university, and is a damn good science communicator. Whereas in history, I give you - Neil Oliver. meh.

lowenergy - but he is good at getting his subject across and that matters more than being the best physicist in the world, surely?

IMO, (and IME, but with mathematics rather than physics) a mediocre physicist who is good at teaching is preferable to a brilliant physicist who finds it all so easy, obvious and intuitive that he can't understand why other people don't and hence can't teach it!

He's on again right now
