I was also ed on that one, when the girls reacted to the larger children, made me sad.

It would be really interesting to see that test done on boys

juneybean · 23/02/2010 20:21

Ooo I'm planning to watch this on catch up later!

Alambil · 23/02/2010 20:21

yes, it would - the body image bit too

Alambil · 23/02/2010 20:23

It's good juney... won't spoil it for you

DD is 3 and is very proud of her "fat tummy" (toddler tummy), she shows it to me oftern enough!
I wonder at what point that will change?
a bit

Alambil · 23/02/2010 20:25

oh that's cute heated...

That poor boy- being fed so much and not allowed out

JollyPirate · 23/02/2010 20:38

Have just turned on (in preparation for One Born Every Minute at 9pm). The bit where Jo showed that Mum the projected age images of her son with the same BMI as he reaches adulthood. Very powerful stuff.

LadyBlaBlah · 23/02/2010 20:39

Is there not an element of 'pot' and 'kettle' when she talks to obese people?

Heated · 23/02/2010 20:42

It's very healthy to see a woman on television not size zero, confident in her body. Neither is she obese imo.

JollyPirate · 23/02/2010 20:43

I think she's great - I know not everyone likes her but she's so normal.

Alambil · 23/02/2010 20:47

thing is, she didn't talk to the mum about her weight - she's not preaching about weight loss; more how to love without opening the cupboard or stopping at the chippy.

She's showing the mum how to help her son become healthy (hand in hand with getting slim - but he'll be healthier before totally slim, if that makes sense)

OP posts:
MrsVidic · 23/02/2010 20:49

LadyBlaBlah- surely she's not commenting on the parents weight but their childrens. Should we strike off doctors who smoke?

LadyBlaBlah · 23/02/2010 20:55

Same shit, different smell IMO

I would hazard a guess that she is obese, and judging others for this problem is a bit

choufleur · 23/02/2010 20:58

But she's a grown up ladyblahblah able to make her own choice. That 10 year old lad needs some good guidance which he wasn't getting from his mum.

LadyBlaBlah · 23/02/2010 21:01

And he won't get good guidance from her either, thats the point. I guarantee he is still obese

PureAsTheColdDrivenSnow · 23/02/2010 21:04

LBB clearly hates Jo - thinks she's offensive and rude and has made her feelings clear on this several times.

don't bloody watch it if you don't like it!

LadyBlaBlah · 23/02/2010 21:07

Indeed I do! I find it so strange that you all just accept that she is fantastic and straight talking and do not question any of her techniques

The woman is a walking nightmare

PureAsTheColdDrivenSnow · 23/02/2010 21:17

yeah, we know BlaBlah - you made this clear on the thread last week.

Um... are you actually watching it?

LadyBlaBlah · 23/02/2010 21:18

I did watch it this week yes, and your point is what?

PureAsTheColdDrivenSnow · 23/02/2010 21:28

I wonder why you watch it, if you hate her so much.

I'm watching it now (freeview+)
I really felt awful for Josh. she was very very abrupt with his Mum, I must admit, and the photo of Josh as a fat balding 30yo were a bit ridiculous.

I just can't help thinking of families who are potentially at the top of the very slippery slope to childhood obesity - maybe this program will shake some sense into them?

It's definitely sensationalist TV (of course it is, nobody would watch it otherwise), but I do think that it's ultimate aims are well intentioned.

PureAsTheColdDrivenSnow · 23/02/2010 21:28

was, not were.

PureAsTheColdDrivenSnow · 23/02/2010 21:30

"And he won't get good guidance from her either, thats the point. I guarantee he is still obese"

That's why she needs a kick up the arse, and some education into what she is actually doing to her kid!

very sad for him

PureAsTheColdDrivenSnow · 23/02/2010 21:31

(sorry, my grammar's fecking rubbish tonight )
