VengefulKitty · 09/02/2010 22:08

ok, feel we MUST give benefit of doubt that he is awful under stress and cameras gave added pressure.

because otherwise I entirely agree with the OP

YoureGorgeous · 09/02/2010 22:12

and the son was utterly pointless
i fwd a lot of it as it was dull - di they ever say why he was there?

Just watching this on +1 and have to agree. If he'd been my DH playing up like that, I'd have sent the bugger home!

EccentricaGallumbits · 09/02/2010 22:21

or punched him. hard.

Piffle · 09/02/2010 22:25

I could swing for him I really could...
The son does not need or even look like he wants to be there.
What an awful man

AnyFucker · 09/02/2010 22:26

I couldn't believe my eyes when he tried to lock his wife in the toilet !

he was just showing off for his son and the camera crew wasn't he ?

I felt very embarassed for his wife..all the sniggering he did was just awful...

Cyb · 09/02/2010 22:27

Chocolate teapot, alright.

He was holding the baby's heart monitor on with one hand and the other hand was in his pocket.

I missed the start what was up with the CS baby?

bramblebooks · 09/02/2010 22:28

omg I so agree - I'm watching this on +1 as I've been oogling survivors. What a prime piece of arsehole reality that fuckwit is. Jeez. I've had to go and dig out the laptop so that I can vent my pain.

EccentricaGallumbits · 09/02/2010 22:30

CS baby has gastroschesis (sp?).

sausagerolemodel · 09/02/2010 22:30

CS baby had that thing where bowel formed outside the torso. I think we should give Steve benefit of doubt and judicious editing (and cameras present and and and etc)b

Cyb · 09/02/2010 22:30

I blubbed every time a baby came out

MyCatIsABastard · 09/02/2010 22:32

Well, she obviously loves him and I thought the lad did very well when Dad went out the room. Who are we to say he shouldn't be there if they wanted him to be and he did too.

So twat he might be, but he is her twat and seemed pretty harmless to me (although, granted, I would have socked him one for sure!)

crankytwanky · 09/02/2010 22:35

In his defence, after 3 children together maybe they had figured out the dynamic which worked for them.

My DH made me laugh in labour by playing keepy-uppy with a birthing ball, which helped take my mind of the hideous pain.

Laughing at your wife, however is the height of twattery.

piratecat · 09/02/2010 22:41

yes the lad was good when dad went out of the room. the editing made you feel like 'oi, get back in there you misery not funny cock' but then again, it was condensed down and i guess he was allowed to pee/eat his fruitbowl in peace .

alannabanana · 10/02/2010 07:28

i was shocked at his behaviour frankly, particularly during her labour pain moanings when he said 'can you drop an "oh steve" in there'. he was definitely playing up for the cameras and the son, who i think actually wanted to be supportive and non-fuckaroundish for his mum.
i guess she loves him all the same and maybe they have that kind of joking around relationship, but my god man, theres a time and a place. if my husband attempted to lock me in the loo or even slightly giggled at my pains, he'd get socked in the nuts pretty sharpish.

Cyb · 10/02/2010 07:30

his new baby will be so proud of Daddy when he watches that later in life

girlsyearapart · 10/02/2010 07:38

the son was sweet when he asked if he could rub the mum's back though.. Thought it was a bit odd to have your teenage son there at birth though??

maybe they were trying to put him off having a baby too young..?

BalloonSlayer · 10/02/2010 07:48

She did take the piss out of him too, saying that that's what they were like as a couple.

But still. I think I'd have punched him. His laughing at her in pain made me want to cry.

I think he was doing a "David Brent." Thinking that he had his moment on camera and now was his big chance to show the world what a hilariously funny guy he is.

He's probably waiting for the phone to ring with an offer of his own show.

youmaynotlikethis · 10/02/2010 08:10

i thought he was funny and it was nice to see how laid back they where and the son,it doesnt have to be all stern serious face all the time,i would love his humour whilst in labour and im sure his wife did

mii · 10/02/2010 08:15

He was bloody useless

Jesus the huffing and puffing when she asked for her coffee

The other girl seemed v grown up for 22, her fella also seemed rubbish, I think he grunted maybe twice through the whole programme

FiveGoMadInDorset · 10/02/2010 08:39

Well thakfully he is not like that in real life, although does have trouble getting a word in edgeways between Lisa, his mother and MIL. They were both in a state of shock, wnet into Dorhcester hospital for a check up and scan and blue lighted to Southampton may do that to you.

FlamingoBingo · 10/02/2010 08:45

I thought the partner of the young girl just seemed nervous and overwhelmed and dealing with it differently than the girl did. She babbled with nerves, he just shut down. Both normal responses to the huge thing that happened to them.

And yes, fair enough, maybe Steve and his wife have that sort of relationship, but I would not want to have that relationship myself! He did look like he really didn't want that baby when they she was talking about the conception. Maybe he was just nervous in front of the cameras?

I still didn't like him.
