No one else watching?

They featured a greggs sausage roll only 230 calories but 60% fat

HarrogateMum · 05/01/2010 21:03

I watched it - quite interested in that whole "how much does 100 cals look like when packaged up" thing....scary infact!!!

thelunar66 · 06/01/2010 14:07

I watched this. That business of dividing food up into 100 calorie portions was an eye-opener - especially the pasta!

But I'm skeptical that losing only 5lb will drop you a dress size. I can lose 5lb in a week if I try and it just means my jeans feel a tiny bit looser.

I was led to understand that a dress size equals about 10lb to a stone

MrsSeanBean · 06/01/2010 14:10

I had to at the appearance of a Gregg's sausage roll.

thelunar66 · 06/01/2010 14:12

oh yes at the sausage roll. I LMAO when it came out as lowest calorie!!! And also LMAO at the Waitrose wrap coming out so badly against it!

PrivetDancer · 06/01/2010 14:18

agreed - 5lb is certainly not a dress size!

Anna r-r didn't seem very sincere with her "oh no, i've got to lose 4 lbs "
She was heavier than that in the series where she was trying out all the fad diets, I'm sure. might have been useful to tell us how she lost that!

I was gutted that they were all lighter than me but I'm sure look a lot fatter than me [deludes self]

thelunar66 · 06/01/2010 14:21

yes at the 'oooh nooo ive got to lose 4lb'

Poor woman

I can lose 4lb by skipping dinner one night and have a large shit!!

compo · 06/01/2010 14:24

Lolol

the other women must hate her

OP posts:
Blondeshavemorefun · 07/01/2010 13:41

enjoyed this, i do like anna, tho she doesnt need to lose weight

pmsl at gsr

if 5lbs is a dress size then surely if i lost 15lbs,ie just over a stone, then i should go down 3 sizes

spookycharlotte121 · 07/01/2010 14:33

I knew when i switched it on it was going to be a waste of an hour of my life and I was right. it was a load of crap.

Blondeshavemorefun · 07/01/2010 17:34

really charlotte?

i thought it was good and will be watching tonight as well

the 100cal was very interesting

felt so sorry for the lady who put on weight

but they are only 4 days into diet, so bet by the end of 2weeks, she will have lost weight

though not sure if all will fit into their dress's in 14days

Ondine · 07/01/2010 18:49

The 100 cal thing was really good if pretty horrifying.

9 Pringles = 100 cals! I ate 3 packs over xmas...

Eddas · 07/01/2010 19:04

I watched and thought it was quite interesting. She(the presenter) definately doesn't need to lose weight. I'm also about them squeezing into those dresses in 2 weeks. Surely they need to lose a fair bit, some of them were very erm S-T-R-E-T-C-H-E-D

Blondeshavemorefun · 07/01/2010 19:28

thats what i said eddas

its on again tonight

carrotsandpeasifyouplease · 08/01/2010 08:56

for me a dress size is at least 10 pounds but then I am tall but I think the weights have been reduced for them because seriously the tall blonde girl is same weight I was after my baby and she looks a lot bigger (unless I am a bit delusional).

All the other ones being 9 stone something is a bit depressing I wish I was EVER that weight.

Furball · 08/01/2010 09:09

I didn't bother with last nights.

I can't stand the recap every 15 mins at the ad break, which happens on most c4 programmes.

For me on average a stone is a dress size.

But yes was shocked that a) greggs sausage roll was least calories and also 9 pringles were 100 cals

Ceebee74 · 08/01/2010 09:15

Didn't watch it but 5lbs for a dress size??? Really???

I lost 3 stone last year and only dropped 2 dress sizes when, according to that, I should have dropped 8 dress sizes

Am liking the Greggs sausage roll info though as the diet I am doing is calorie based so I don't need to know or care that a sausage roll has 60% fat - just 230 cals!! I LOVE Greggs sausage rolls

PrivetDancer · 08/01/2010 11:15

I'm not convinced by some of those 100 cals portions actually, they seemed fairly rounded up. A crumpet is more like 80 cals, which might not sound a big difference, but you could actually get a bit of butter on it too for 100 cals. must be a big egg for 100 too, although I can see why they didn't have 1 and a quarter eggs on the tray. I also think you shouldn't have to count the calories of green vegetables, no matter what diet you are on.

agree about the recaps! OMG. thank god for tivo - I fast forwarded through most of the program!

Reassuring to see that even the threat of them being weighed on TV didn't stop them getting drunk and blowing the diet for an evening

MakemineaGandT · 08/01/2010 11:20

I was a bit when they informed us in programme 1 that an egg is 100 cals, but in programme 2 told us 20 eggs were 1400 cals.

I don't know why i watch these things - it just amazes me how stupid so many people are - is it really that surprising that a massive baguette stuffed with cheese is very high in calories?!

littleducks · 08/01/2010 11:21

I quite liked it-only saw the first one though.

The 100 cal club was a def eye opener, im trying to loose weight at the moment and was going to do low card but seeing that has made me wish i could shop there!

I could eat so much more pasta than the 100 packet, so i will be making pasta for the dcs but not me for a while, i always saw it as 'healthy'. I have also bought the waitrose wrap featured thinking it was an 'ok' choice

So am now studying packaging carfully, but can anyone explain why my sainsbury porridge oats (oats not prepared stuff) has a red section for FAT in the traffic light thingy?

MakemineaGandT · 08/01/2010 11:28

it also makes me cross that foods are labelled as bad or good depending on calory content. You might have a very low cal yoghurt but I wouldn't touch it with a barge pole if it was full of artificial sweeteners etc - far healthier just to have some (high fat!) greek yoghurt. Same goes for those marg spreads - much better to have a bit of proper butter that doesn't contain all sorts of weird rubbish. Just don't overdo it

bibbitybobbitysantahat · 08/01/2010 11:32

This is tv dumbed down to its absolute dumbest. I really think you should complain to the duty office about the 5lb being a dress size thing. As Blondes says, that means anyone losing a stone will go down 3 dress sizes when, infact, it will be 1 dress size if she's very lucky. How can they broadcast such blatant untruths? The producers really should be called on it imho. It would not be allowed on a product advertisement.

GothDetective · 08/01/2010 11:37

I thought that prawn noodle soup that Matt Dawson cooked looked yummy.
