dieting is a bout portion size

60g of dry pasta should be a portion right for an adult

its small, but maybe i am just used to large portions of food

hence why i am on 22 trying to lose 2 stone

littleducks · 08/01/2010 18:04

I just watched the second episode on 4OD, and now i realise why I'm gaining weight....a well as eating those waitrose wraps thinking its healthy and suitable as a 'diet' food I also eat the Pizza Express Bosco Salad

Blondeshavemorefun · 09/01/2010 08:46

aww never mind, just rem to have the prawn salad and NEVER the pasta bacon thing (which btw i have had and is yummy) but never again if it has that much calories in it

if it says salad you think healthy, but obv it is

On their website it says that the 1200 calorie a day diet is only suitable for women who are in the overweight category which is a BMI over 25.

Anna Richardson said she was 9 stone 12 at the start. The only way she has a BMI over 25 is if she is 5 foot 2 or less, which she is clearly not.

She may feel personally that she would like to lose a few pounds, which is fine, but why she is on a diet show, on such a low calorie diet is beyond me. She looks a healthy size so think she should either just be presenting the show and not dieting, or get someone who is bigger to do it. Sends bad messages I think, but then it is a diet show and they all do I suppose.

Blondeshavemorefun · 13/01/2010 20:01

they never use fat over weight presenters

she has a lovely figure, but has def lost weight from when she did the last slimming prog with weird diets, apples all days/baby food etc

so what did she do then to lose it?

she has lost 4lbs so far, sure that wont do the zip up,unless could do it up really in the beginning

4lbs would not make me fit into a smaller size

PrivetDancer · 15/01/2010 15:41

I can't help but be a bit at all the dresses zipping up perfectly after just 2 weeks! Didn't one of them lose 12lbs too? that sounds like an awful lot in 2 weeks!

Before and after shots would have been good - none of them looked any different to me.

Blondeshavemorefun · 15/01/2010 16:45

its a starvation diet, does say only do for 2 weeks

bet they put weight on the next week after going back to 1500 cals

not sure how anna losing 5lbs suddenly slipped into her top so easily

Monadami · 15/01/2010 18:39

How come I weigh 13 stones, but am half the size of many of the women on the show who weigh a lot less than me?

Blondeshavemorefun · 15/01/2010 19:33

weight is a weird thing

i weigh the same as my friend and she looks a lot slimmer than me - unless i really look slim

Monadami · 15/01/2010 19:54

Maybe we have more muscle mass Blonde. I used to do loads of weights 4 times per week, even when I was a slim size 10, I still weighed 10.5 stones. One of the women in the show looked to be almost a size 16, but was about 10stones 7 pounds, suppose she's just fat with poor musclulature..

peachsmuggler · 15/01/2010 20:12

Mondami - you're right, you probably have more muscle mass which makes you look miles thinner, while also making you weigh more.

Also, it is so much about body shape. When you are bigger on top, or carry weight on your face you always look like you weigh more, than someone who carries their weight on their bottom half.

Am sure the dresses were all picked at the end to be the size they had become no matter what it was.

Am also sure most of them will out the weight back on as a) they lost a lot very quickly and b) they didn't seem super-commited. One of them was saying about how she cheated and ate chocolate. Not the end of the world obviously but was surprised that she didn't stick to the diet when it was only 2 weeks, and she was going to be on TV, but then if dieting was that simple, everyone would be succeeding at them.

Good luck to them all though, they seemed pretty chuffed at the end, and all seemed realyl nice folks.

Seems little point to me in featuring dieters on telly, as they have a huge motivation that the public don't have - ie appearing on telly to be weighed at the end.

It's not comparing like with like. I'm sure I could crash diet too, if I had a telly appearance at the end of it.

I like that presenter woman, she has a cheery personality, but I glanced though her book in Waterstones and it says basically, don't eat anything normal. No sugar, no alcohol, no carbs after 6pm etc etc.
