I'm looking forward to this. I love a good scare, though it can't possibly be as terrifying as 'The Polar Express' which is currently on ITV2 +1.

Will anyone else be watching this tonight?

Yup - just saw it in the TV guide so popped it in the planner. DH had never heard of it but was keen once I said it was a ghost story.

Lifeinagoldfishbowl · 30/12/2009 20:54

Yep watched it years ago as a young teen and it scared the beejeesus out of me so looking forward to seeing it again tonight

BedfordFallsResident · 30/12/2009 20:54

Yes i will - although i don't know the story. It will be quite refreshing to watch a period drama / horror that i'm unfamiliar with.

Guad · 30/12/2009 20:56

Dh is watching it, I might from behind a cushion. I'm such a wuss with scary films, couldn't sit through The Others or similar.

peggotty · 30/12/2009 20:57

Is it really scary!? Me and Dh thinking of watching it but are both quite easily freaked out b supernatural stuff [shitbag emoticon]

LetThereBeRock · 30/12/2009 21:08

I've watched another adaptation of it and it was spooky but not overly so.

shallishanti · 30/12/2009 21:43

it annoys because they have messed around with the original novel, so I'm refusing to watch it. [stubborn}

saltyseadog · 30/12/2009 21:51

I keep physically jumping out of my skin .

traceybath · 30/12/2009 21:51

I'm scared.

DH has gone upstairs and am torn between watching the rest and going to bed.

MollieO · 30/12/2009 21:52

I wonder if the ending will be the same as the novel?

I wrote my undergrad and postgrad dissertations partly on The Turn of the Screw.

The Freudian symbolism is just beautiful. Quint up a big, hard tower, Jessel across a big, wet lake.

And the blonde haired, blue eyed facade of innocence.

Sublime.

HellBent · 30/12/2009 22:10

Ooh I'll have to watch a repeat, I watched the day of the triffids last night (started a whole thread about how rubbish it was!) so I'd like to watch something half decent over the holidays. agree with you about polar express!

smallorange · 30/12/2009 22:18

The film version is better, creepier, than this. It's called The Innocents and they show it on the odd afternoon.

PictureThis · 30/12/2009 22:19

It's a full moon everynight in this programme!

HeadFairy · 30/12/2009 22:20

Am I right in thinking The Others is loosely based on The Turn of the Screw? It just feels very familiar...

PictureThis · 30/12/2009 22:21

OK, feeling a little creeped out now

PictureThis · 30/12/2009 22:22

Might have to turn the sound down to stop the creepy music

traceybath · 30/12/2009 22:23

Am still scared and have made DH come and watch it with me.

Am liking her clothes very much and what incredibly gorgeous children.
