I loved it too. It was really LOL funny. I am so pleased that we can watch it again and again on the iplayer. I couldn't believe how good it was. The actress who plays Miranda is superb. Her deadpan expression is brilliant.

It's about the actress who plays the lead part - semi-autobiographical.

doubleexpresso · 16/11/2009 19:36

Sounds bizarre but it's about an incredibly tall woman (Miranda) who (repeatedly) gets mistaken for a man. She owns a joke shop and has no luck in lurve Her mother is a nightmare and her crush from schooldays has just got a job as the chef in the restaurant next door. Try it - I really thought it was on of the best comedies I've ever seen.

Mamazon · 16/11/2009 19:37

Its about me! im sure of it.

the bit where the man atthe tranny shop assumes she's a man, the way she talks about big and long shops etc

it's the life i would have if i were single and childless.
god its so funny its almost depressing

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 16/11/2009 19:40

I really laughed at it, I think because I can sort of identify with it.

I'm tall and was always terrified of being mistaken for a bloke or a tranny.

The bit in the wedding dress shop and the baby stuff in her flat had me pmsl!

OllieWollieWoo · 16/11/2009 20:45

I enjoyed this last night too! Even DH was laughing out loud (tho he denied doing so!). I love her asides to camera!

Oh good - I did a thread about this after watching last week's episode and there were quite a few people who didn't like it at all.

Good to see so many good female comedians/actors working together without it being a sketch show. Love the end credits too. It's cheesy but just had me laughing out loud.

I also have that self-recognition Mamazon- when she came back from the "transformations" shop looking like a transvestite (although I am not that tall!) - just the whole mystification at the wedding stuff and trying on dresses etc. I laughed at the part when she brought that man back to her flat and it was filled with baby stuff - could see it coming but still very funny

I look forward to watching some more.

I watched this in iplayer, will watch second tonight, it's really not the sort of thing I like but I thought it was brilliant. I have seen teh actress in a few things and have always thought she is better than the bit part/supporting part she always gets.

Loved the 'I'm a ten....ty'
'Yes, I think we have something in a tenty'

WowOoo · 17/11/2009 15:06

Just happened to watch this accidentally last night (cannot move from sofa syndrome).

Thought it was fab.

MarshaBrady · 17/11/2009 15:09

The one that plays Miranda is great. I didn't think I would like it but the looking to camera bits do make me laugh.

Afraid I don't like the little blonde flatmate one with the silly faces, but Miranda is fab.

southeastastra · 17/11/2009 15:16

liked second one too, made me lol as well. not alot does really. i'm quite sour

she's a bit frankie howerd

SausageRocket · 17/11/2009 16:11

dh laughed like a drain, I didn't

Unusual for him. It just felt really predictable and the jokes were too obvious and forced.

BoneYard · 17/11/2009 16:18

I thought it might be too 'American humour' as they do those autobiographical comedies alot over there. But it was very funny i thought esp her aside to the camera (about gymnastics etc.).

The little blonde one is very funny in this

daftpunk · 17/11/2009 16:21

i liked it...

quite funny

PerArduaAdNauseum · 17/11/2009 16:21

Just catching up with this now - love it . Especially the embracing the corniness with the end credits

daftpunk · 17/11/2009 16:24

i liked her mum...the way she whispers words like... racist..

ha ha

OrmIrian · 17/11/2009 16:40

Loved it! I am also v tall so sympathised.

RnB · 18/11/2009 16:06

LOL Jackbauer the shop owner in that scene is my friend. I also enjoyed this. went to the filming of the first episode and met the rather gorgeous Tom Ellis (swoon)

puffling · 18/11/2009 23:01

For me it's pleasantish but not laugh out loud funny.

Washersaurus · 18/11/2009 23:03

Oh come on, it is utter rubbish. I had to turn off after 5 minutes. I am surprised so many people enjoyed it.

southeastastra · 19/11/2009 08:28

if you only gave it 5 minutes surely you can't judge it properly

UnquietDad · 19/11/2009 09:25

Sometimes 5 minutes is enough. I caught a but of this week's episode too and it made me cringe. All the slapstick with the pasta sauce.

cocolepew · 19/11/2009 09:29

I like it. Thanksfor the link Boneyard I've be trying to think where I've seen her before
