Just watched the first episode and it was really funny

Ep 2 on tonight.

She was in the Supermarket thngy with Tom Ellis on ITV and something on the Beeb but I can't remember what eitheer of them are called.

2 of my colleagues told me about this today - they said Miranda reminded them of me. I'm going to have to pin them down on how we are supposed to be similar.

JesusChristOtterStar · 22/11/2009 22:16

only watched this tonight but lol!!

Pixel · 22/11/2009 22:59

She was Teal in Hyperdrive if that helps.

Just saw this tonight and loved it. Will have to look up the first one on iplayer now.

JuanMoreTime · 22/11/2009 23:03

JuanMoreTime · 22/11/2009 23:04

i had seen teh other thread and presumed it was you lot saying "Isnt htis out of date "generic- sad- woman- wiht- no man" shit"
but oh my god oyu IDOTS like it?

shitting nora

MollieO · 22/11/2009 23:05

Did you have a round yellow face and no ears too? I'd go to the GP if I were you.

TsarChasm · 22/11/2009 23:08

Oh dear..I am mystified. I don't get why this is funny. I had another look tonight because everyone keeps saying it's good. But nope. Ah well..

JuanMoreTime · 22/11/2009 23:09

and i wanted to like it.
she should be ashamed of it. its like watching a sixth form end of term sketch thing.

SixtyFootDoll · 22/11/2009 23:10

I thought it was hilarious
When she had that littl chair stuck on her bum
I was reallly LOLing
Her mother was fab too
Will def watch again, bst thing that I have sseen in ages!

JuanMoreTime · 22/11/2009 23:11

are you all brainwashed?

daftpunk · 22/11/2009 23:11

it's not that bad...

wouldn't go out of my way to watch it...but it's a reasonably pleasent way to pass half an hour...

it's quaintness is it's appeal i think

glasjam · 22/11/2009 23:56

I can't quite put my finger on why I found this funny. I think a lot has to do with the actual performance. For instantc if it was Caroline Quentin in the lead role it would NOT be funny for me. I think the hysterical edge to the lead's performance just transforms it into something else.

And JuanMoreTime I am guessing that perhaps you are a confident size 10 woman, with an eye for fashion who enjoys shopping for clothes and discussing shoes and handbags in great detail? Maybe you just can't identify with this woman? I think you have to have a degree of empathy with Miranda to find her funny.

JesusChristOtterStar · 23/11/2009 00:31

the mother is great!

falling in the school corridor i did lol

imnotaceleb · 23/11/2009 12:59

Im sticking to my guns by saying it's lol funny. As someone else said, the lead makes the show and it wouldn't work without her.

Love the mum to - 'its what I call .....'

OP posts:
PheasantPlucker · 23/11/2009 13:02

I liked it.

Iamamumma · 23/11/2009 20:53

This cracks me up - I can identify with the inappropriate singing and the big and tall thing - love it!

MrsMattie · 23/11/2009 20:58

God, it's painful.

Botbot · 23/11/2009 21:06

It should be good, shouldn't it? She's quite endearing, and I can relate to her (especially the bit the other week when she looked a tit in a wedding dress and all her mates looked gorgeous). And I see she's trying to be ironically 80s about it, with the Hi-De-Hi-style end credits, etc. But someone needs to tell her it actually needs to be funny too. Cringed through it this evening.

southeastastra · 23/11/2009 21:17

i still like it, makes me lol which, on a monday night, is good enough for me.

she's just naturally funny

JesusChristOtterStar · 23/11/2009 21:20

it is not often i laugh out loud at tv ( but then i love Jimmy Carr!)

MrsMorgan · 23/11/2009 23:01

Dd1 was watching this earlier and nearly crying laughing. I don't think she understood it at all though as she is 12.

Is it always on before 9 ??

Anyway, I have just watched all 3 on iplayer and I think it is absolutly brilliant, and it takes alot to make me laugh.

mollymawk · 23/11/2009 23:23

See, I like this, even though it is, TBH, a bit corny and not terribly original - her mother reminds me of a cross between Bridget Jones' mum and Julie Walters in dinnerladies. But maybe it's just that I like Miranda Hart who is funny in a very likeable way. And I do like the Hi-de-Hi style end credits!

(I also used to really like Not Going Out, also with Miranda Hart, and it seems no-one else on the planet liked that so at least I have some fellow fans of Miranda!)

imnotaceleb · 14/12/2009 22:21

So - looks like there will be more Miranda going by the final episode

OP posts:
SlartyBartFast · 14/12/2009 22:26

about gary leave,
and its the last episode
boo hoo

ChristieF · 15/12/2009 13:16

Fantastic. She seems such a lovely person. Not as funny as it might be but she's one of those women who have such appeal for other women. More would be good. Fed up with all the misery on TV.
