I live abroad and from time to time fancy watching some TV in English.

Recently DH and I have been addicted to enjoyed 24, Dexter and The Wire.

Would love some suggestions of other things to watch, especially any British series (so DH doesn't develop such an American accent ). They don't have to be police/murder style programmes, in fact a bit of comedy might be nice. Or some drama.

So, what do you recommend, oh wise MNs?

I bought the Spooks boxed sets in a closing down sale, dh and I became totally addicted, it was dreadful when we were on the last box and knew it was all going to end soon!

Cies · 14/09/2009 21:36

I think I remember watching some Teachers. Will see if there are more seasons out now. All good suggestions so far - thanks.

How about Spooks?

Agree re Gavin & Stacey

Cies · 14/09/2009 21:52

Been gone 6 years! We get lots of American series on TV here, but no British ones.

OK, so Gavin and Stacey (DH may not get this, I feel...)

That's two votes for the Inbetweeners.

I've definitely put Spooks on the list.

Heroes looks good too.

Let me google Peep Show.

Another for Gavin and Stacey but they will only last you a few nights. Shameless?

I know you asked for British but we've really enjoyed The Soprano's. Just finished The Wire ourselves and are going to move onto ER then poss The West Wing.

Ewe · 14/09/2009 21:56

Halfway through The West Wing - not English, but absolutely brilliant. Along the same theme, what about something like yes minister?

JustBe · 14/09/2009 21:59

Recent ones me an DP have really enjoyed are The Shield, Breaking Bad, and a couple of British ones Ideal, Lead Balloon and Gavin and Stacey, Saxondale, Psychoville

CarGirl · 14/09/2009 22:00

Love Peep Show and The Inbetweeners.

I know you want British, but I was really impressed by The Sopranos. I wish there were more episodes!

Cies · 14/09/2009 22:01

I think I might have to put The West Wing on the list - so many people have recommended it over the years, but I've never got round to watching it.
