I know I am a sentimental thing but I just cried and cried at the ending today when Marion came back to claim Robin.

Ds2 and I had been watching the episode, laughing at the total ludicrousy of the plot. The last series has been so stupid, I have not really been bothering with it.

Then that Marion music came on, Much's eyes filled with tears, and on walked Marion and I couldn't hold back the tears. Ds3 (6) asked me why I had big tears rolling down my face.

What a sloppy thing I am.

Yes but he looks like a right twat in that hat.

Dumbledoresgirl · 27/06/2009 22:47

Oh yes, agree. I liked the episode in series one where the sheriff made him Earl of Bonchurch or whatever it was and he got nice clothes and (briefly) a woman.

(and took the hat off)

Yep. Total twat. But he's now at Straford doing Julius Caeser, so not all rubbish.
The main surprise was offing Will Scarlett last week. I like him.

Dumbledoresgirl · 27/06/2009 22:49

Will Scarlett? he was out at the end of series 2. Do you mean Alan a dale?

OP posts:
cornsilk · 27/06/2009 22:49

He was called something else - not Will Scarlett. What did happen to Will Scarlett? I'd forgotten about him.

Dumbledoresgirl · 27/06/2009 22:55

Will Scarlett and Djaq stayed behind in the Holy Land at the end of series 2. Do you think I know too much about this diabolical programme? I really have not watched more than 3 episodes of this series.

So is the next series going to do a Taggart, and be Robin Hood without Robin?

I can vaguely remember the 80s RH series doing this with Michael Praed who was Robin of Loxley and Jason Connery who was Robert of Huntingdon, revealed to be Guy's half-brother.

Btw, how did Guy come over from the dark side? I missed two episodes back-to-back.

ZebsRoomofHerOwn · 27/06/2009 23:09

Doh! I meant Alan!

Guy sort of came over from the Dark Side but didn't really. It was all a bit of a shoehorn TBH, and for the whole series none of his character made particular sense like it did before.

I loved Prince John though, although I've always had a soft spot for Toby Stephens, who was hamming it up to the nines.

Dumbledoresgirl · 27/06/2009 23:14

Michael Praed

Though the supernatural element to his version was sillier than this comic book version.

Officially cancelled as of today.

No Series 4.

HerBeatitudeLittleBella · 02/07/2009 21:17

Nooooooooo. No series 4? Not even with the delectable Archer?

Oh well, back to Dr Who and Merlin then...

mmm, Arthur....

cornsilk · 02/07/2009 21:25

Darn it. Did it have crap ratings then?

ZebsRoomofHerOwn · 02/07/2009 21:51

No more Sheriff? Boo!
Is Merlin coming back then?

UnquietDad · 02/07/2009 22:02

Ratings were around 4m, but moving the final episode to BBC2 didn't help - under 2m for that one.

UnquietDad · 02/07/2009 22:08

Yes, Merlin and Doctor Who both back in next few months. Also in development is new Tony Jordan series The Ministry, which is meant to be about a secret bureau that investigates "weird stuff". Modern day family action adventure for Saturday nights...

ZebsRoomofHerOwn · 02/07/2009 23:20

Cooool!

UnquietDad · 02/07/2009 23:26

"In development" though, note. So it could appear any time between 2010 and, um, never.

Gareth Roberts, who wrote the Shakespeare and Agatha Christie episodes of DW, plus the Sarah Jane one where she goes back in time to meet her parents, is meant to be writing for it.

cornsilk · 02/07/2009 23:41

I didn't really like those episodes. Humphhh at no more Robin Hood.

UnquietDad · 03/07/2009 00:20

To be fair, though, Robin would probably need a pretty major reboot. No Nottingham Castle (how long would it take to build a new one? Decades??), no Guy, no Isabella, no Sheriff, no Riobin. In fact, only John and Much left of the original cast!

cornsilk · 03/07/2009 06:33

Hmmm, Archer looked promising.

Katisha · 03/07/2009 10:28

I'm glad Robin Hood has gone - it just didn't work for me. I think it was all the agonising about how they were all feeling in a very angsty teenage sort of way. And Robin looked like a ferret. And Guy just looked uncomfortable throughout.

More of a shame about Primeval though.

HerBeatitudeLittleBella · 03/07/2009 13:16

I think the big weakness of the series, was that any sensible woman would have preferred to shag Guy than Robin.

And that's not good. You need to want to shag the hero.

Actually, I've thought of about 20 other big weaknesses since writing that, but I can't be bothered to list them.

UnquietDad · 03/07/2009 13:27

The biggest weakness was the total ineptitude of the castle guards, who let Robin and his men get past them into Nottingham every week!

HerBeatitudeLittleBella · 03/07/2009 13:32

Yes that was one.

And in the first series, Robin's unbelievable pacifism.

And Marian's idiocy.

And Kate's idiocy.

And the lack of outlaws.

OK I'll stop there for now...
