ER and George - slightly disappointing?

BlingDreaming · 08/05/2009 16:21

Or was it just me? I was expecting Dr Ross to swoop in and have a tearful reunion with Carter? The last of the TV romantics, that's me!

What did the rest of you think?

Not enough George in it for me but happy he had found true love with Carol.

bitofadramaqueen · 08/05/2009 16:23

It wasn't one of the better episodes of this season.

bronze · 08/05/2009 16:24

I was glad to see a normal couple still being a couple. You don't get that on tv much. It made me all gooey

BlingDreaming · 08/05/2009 16:25

I loved how she stood around in her tailored pants suit looking smart!

Have decided that DH looks a little like George Clooney. Yay for me!

ah BlingDreaming I was exactly the same. Even dh was a bit disappointed (as I'd spent the entire week droning on about it!)
I kept waiting for someone to tell them that it was Carter who needed the kidney and for it all to pick up a pace...ah well, I can dream. He still looks good in those scrubs though

The best bit was actually Benton and Carter, I thought that storyline was really lovely.

HolidaysQueen · 08/05/2009 16:28

I was disappointed that there wasn't enough George, but thought it was a good episode. The way Doug walked in in a really understated way when Carol was talking so you almost missed his entrance, the way they suddenly left them behind as they transported the heart and kidney back, the way they didn't know that Carter had got the kidney - it was like it would be in real life. But then they did give everyone a smile at the end with the unnecessary-for-the-story-but-lovely all-the-same ending. And I have it on Sky+ so I can watch it again tonight

bronze · 08/05/2009 16:32

I was expecting themt o have got the organs the wrong way round

Northernlurker · 08/05/2009 16:34

I was a bit put out that it doesn't seem like they had any more children. I would have thought they had at least 1 more....

policywonk · 08/05/2009 16:36

I did enjoy it but am a bit put out that they shoe-horned three venerable characters into one episode, while most of this series has been a bit rubbish. Couldn't they have spread them around a bit?

Kimi · 08/05/2009 16:44

I thought it was great to see the old faces.
I have seen the whole series now aand I thouht it was a fab ending classic ER.

"are you coming Dr Green" Sob, pass the tissues

TheGreatScootini · 08/05/2009 16:51

WHAT?!!I am 3 behind.I didnt know Dr Carter was coming back for an episode!!!

I might ditch going out tonight and stay in and catch up now!I love Dr Carter!

HolidaysQueen · 08/05/2009 17:04

oh you're in for a treat scootini - he's back for the whole rest of the series!

OonaghBhuna · 08/05/2009 17:23

Is that it with George though, I take it hes not in the two remaining episodes? As I try to hold back the tears. He was great, a bit disapointed that he wasnt really in it that much but oh boy he has so much charisma.

vintagevavavoom · 08/05/2009 21:38

i have always loved er it is my fav tv prog ever i think it lost its way a bit but has really picked up since dr carter came back i loved last nights 2 epidsodes back to back i have never fancied george clooney but it was lovely to see him as dr ross and carole dr benton etc the most gorgeous man i have ever laid eyes on is goran visjnic who played dr kovac but i think dr catrer and mark greene were the best charecters ever btw thank kimi? for telling something that we havnt saw in the uk yet grr lol

missed it last night too, I was lying on the bathroom floor (long story) so glad to hear it's on tonight again even if I have to stay up another 2 hours!

SmallerClanger · 08/05/2009 23:47

Seeing Carter & Benton reminded me how good it used to be - I don't want it to end now. But PLEASE let Carter be happy at last.

NoNameNoOtherAlias · 09/05/2009 00:06

It's on the channgel 4 website for those that missed it.

The George episode was a bit pants, and I am very that Carol looks exactly the same.

TheMysticMasseuse · 09/05/2009 06:54

thank god for channel 4 online!

carol looked gorgeous. and seeing george as dr ross made my week

although strangely it was dr benton that made it for me, i love the way he's still a bit an asshole but has mellowed out with age... still the little twinkle in his eye...

of all the current characters it's dr morris i care about the most. i am so happy he's found Claudia,

PfftTheMagicDragon · 09/05/2009 07:06

Mystic, I agree about Benton, he was one of those ER characters that was well written. That was back in the day when they had more story writing skills beyond "start them as a bastard and redeem them within the series" He had proper flaws but was still likeable, like Romano and others. It made his (and the show) so watchable. No so much, these days.

TheMysticMasseuse · 09/05/2009 07:16

i agree Dragon. characters and relationships back in the day were so real, think for example of the way the dr greene/dr lewis thing was handled... and the way they did the neela/ray, which are very similar in a way... with the latter, it felt so forced and contrived, that they had to introduce disability etc to make it interesting...

thinking about it... i think it is particularly the female characters that have gone downhill over the years... Susan, Carol, Weaver, Corday, dell'Amico etc were all strong indedendent women we could identify with or at least side with, since then we've had a swate of unstable, unlikeable and ridiculously promiscuous (which would be fine in itself, except it was always done in a passive/victim mode) caricatures...

TheMysticMasseuse · 09/05/2009 07:20

btw... did anyone else feel like they were transported back to 10 years ago when watching? i mean, i started remembering all sorts of things about my life 10 years ago, the endless debates we'd have with my brother about Benton, was a bit weird to think how my life has changed!
