on fx at 10pm and fx+1 at 11pm

i just think it is a real shame that they didnt stick to the books

as in last series the policemsn (cant rem his name) got killed by lila

and that wasnt how the books were

in the books he got caught by a physco killer and lost his arm and leg and tonuge - but was alive and dexter rescued him - but he couldnt talk

you just heard him clumping down the hall

has anyone else read the books and got pissed off they changed the storyline?

a bit yeah, although the book dexter isnt as likable as the tv dexter. and not sure how well the cody/astor storyline would go down tbh

Blondeshavemorefun · 17/04/2009 19:36

waves hi lissie

true- had forgottn about that - in the book, the ex wife (dexters girlfriend) hated her ex hubby as he used to beat her and kids, and wouldnt spend time/tal to him and cody didnt utter more than 10 words

OP posts:
differentID · 17/04/2009 19:43

I think I like both equally for the differences.
Could you imagine if they had actually started that storyline?

Blondeshavemorefun · 17/04/2009 20:05

true

though the bloke who killed him- was a nutter - and the reading of the chopping off body parts was good

im a blood thrsty blonde

or did you mean the abuse

OP posts:
differentID · 17/04/2009 20:09

both but more the abuse- people don't want to know that it exists. They don't want to see that how a child is treated determines the whoile course of his life.

Blondeshavemorefun · 17/04/2009 20:10

again very true

you are a wise id!!!

OP posts:
differentID · 17/04/2009 20:25

Me, Wise?
pmsl.

saggyhairyarse · 17/04/2009 21:33

I've not read the books but I sooooo love Dexter!

JackBauer · 17/04/2009 21:59

OOh, dexter!

I agree that the books are better but they just wouldn't work on tv, maybe the cody thing but not the 'evil demon' thing anyway. and Di is right, the networks would be a bit over that.

If I ahdn't read the books though I would have no problems with the series!

OracleInaCoracle · 18/04/2009 08:44

the series is fab because you get the feeling that dexter cares more than he thinks, in the books he cares less than he thinks. and the cody thing would never be shown on tv. agree the networks just dont want to think about a homicidal, sociopathic 10yo boy

Blondeshavemorefun · 18/04/2009 14:42

think ire ad somewhere that dexter may be a daddy (to his girlfriend - mum of cody/aster)

that would be good

OP posts:
Blondeshavemorefun · 18/04/2009 14:42

i read

OP posts:
OracleInaCoracle · 18/04/2009 14:57

yep, at the end of the 4th book and 3rd series. so that one thing theyve kept consistant

Blondeshavemorefun · 18/04/2009 15:12

you must mean dexter by design - havent read that one yet - been ordered though - so waiting for it

OP posts:
OracleInaCoracle · 18/04/2009 15:15

Blondeshavemorefun · 18/04/2009 15:16

OP posts:
OracleInaCoracle · 18/04/2009 15:17

Blondeshavemorefun · 18/04/2009 15:19

OP posts:
OracleInaCoracle · 18/04/2009 15:23

i know. my fave book was no 2!

Blondeshavemorefun · 18/04/2009 15:30

same here - just a shame that they dont stick to the books though

now detecive is dead - blown up by lila-when was better that he was alive in 3rd book but couldnt say anything

OP posts:
OracleInaCoracle · 18/04/2009 15:43

agree, dh loved doakes. he was a great character and i loved his cheerful computer generated: "i'm watching you, motherfucker" lines

Blondeshavemorefun · 18/04/2009 15:49

doakes - course that was his name - couldnt remember it

having a blonde moment

OP posts:
OracleInaCoracle · 18/04/2009 15:51

lol, its odd that they kept laguerta in the tv series when she was killed in the first book though!

Blondeshavemorefun · 20/04/2009 20:21

good point!!

OP posts:
GothAnneGeddes · 21/04/2009 00:50

I'm glad they kept her in though, she's a re really interesting character.

Plus, it's great to see such a curvy good looking woman on telly.
