I'm sorry but that little girl singing "The Greatest Love of All" on CBeebies Take A Bow is

giving me the creeps. I've seen it about four times in the past couple of years and it doesn't get easier to take. Posing on the London Eye, phrasing the weirdly adult song like a tiny professional ...

Not her fault obv she is talented and cute but I envision a terrifying stage parent in the background.

Haven't heard it but I loathe the song. Shudder.

DorotheaPlenticlew · 04/03/2009 17:36

Ooh, you'd hate it. She sings it pretty much exactly like a junior Whitney, with loads of faked emotion (in the sense that she is far too young for it to be genuine). Whitney in your pocket. She believes the children are our future!

Oh God. Spare me. Next thing you'll be telling me she's wearing make up and heels.

MrsMerryHenry · 04/03/2009 17:43

PMSL at 'children are our future'! Perhaps she's just very mature for her age?!

Jazzicatz · 04/03/2009 17:43

How can you say she sings it well - its truly awful!!!!!!

Raahh · 04/03/2009 17:43

rofl- i was thinking the very same thing- i've actually lost count of the number of times this has been inflicted on us- I hate Take a Bow anyway, full of super annoying stage school types...

I wonder how tempted the camera man (who had to share the confined space with her), wanted to push her off the London eye?

(I'm sure she's lovely, btw, she is very cute to look at, but the song is just awful!)

DorotheaPlenticlew · 04/03/2009 17:45

Well I just didn't want to be too rude about her as she is not really to blame -- but yes ... it is rotten. She would get harsh comments on the X Factor, except she's YEARS TOO YOUNG.
Pretty sure she is in makeup, not heels tho!

LackaDAISYcal · 04/03/2009 17:47

Isn't it just awful. I'm not even convinced it was her voice as it seemed too contrived.

DorotheaPlenticlew · 04/03/2009 17:50

It reminds me a bit of those child beauty pageants in the USA ... not that I have ever seen one. I wonder if, having been groomed by the stage parent for stardom, she will one day rebel and go punk. Or Riot Grrrl.

for your viewing pleasure

MrsMerryHenry · 04/03/2009 18:07

She is really cute...but that song and her name have killed it for me.

MaryAnnSingleton · 04/03/2009 18:15

ditto MrsMerryHenry

DuchessOfAvon · 04/03/2009 19:57

Deeply horrible. DH went into conniptions.

ComeWhineWithMe · 04/03/2009 20:00

Is she Carrie and Dave's DD ? Or have I just imagined I heard it somewhere?

MARGOsBeenPlayingWithMyNooNoo · 04/03/2009 20:00

hmm yes it was an inappropriate choice, poor girl. Why the London Eye?

mumofdjandbabies · 04/03/2009 20:28

crumbs I thought this too!!!!!!!!!!!

MaggsS · 05/03/2009 06:56

She is in Bear behaving badly which is on CBBC / BBC.

She is so annoying.

Merrylegs · 08/03/2009 13:34

I think she came across well.

Just the kind of thing my DD (7) and her friends would practice in her bedroom!

I think she sang it just as a competently musical 7 year old would - nicely in tune but with a bit of wavering as her voice isn't fully mature yet.

I haven't seen her in anything else, but in this she was perfectly sweet.

CrushWithEyeliner · 08/03/2009 13:47

She is someones' little girl bless her....

It is awfully tacky but if she were your daughter you would be so proud; she puts a lot of energy and emotion into it.

Thunderduck · 08/03/2009 14:21

That was rather disturbing. And I think it gave me a few cavities too.

I'm not a fan of singing children unless they are playing a role in a musical.

Habbibu · 08/03/2009 14:37

Blerg. She's emoting a lot.

Rhubarb · 08/03/2009 14:44

I think her mother MUST be a Mumsnetter!

And I'm very disappointed that the kids in the carriage above hers didn't all pull a moony.

belladonna79 · 09/03/2009 16:12

She wasn't bad, when I compare her to my DD (not saying much though tbh) and she's probably quite a clever little thing, they're not going to pick less bale children for kids TV, they need to take direction quickly etc, and she was very cute looking but why that song? Why something so alien to a child of about 8?

SebbysMum · 09/03/2009 19:39

I just watched it on replay because of this thread. I think she is very sweet and obviously pretty talented. I think she'll be back on our screens as an adults. They would have done better to have given her a funkier song though. Singing without the American accent would have been nice too.

nickytwotimes · 09/03/2009 19:43

I hated it.

I'm sure she's a smashing kid, but...
