There is a boys house and a girls house with primary age kids left to live without adults...quite a lot of bullying goes on apparently with no intervention...sounds exploitative to me but I will be interested to watch! C4 at 9pm tonight

I'm going to watch it too. It can't possibly be no adults at all surely?

Podrick · 03/02/2009 17:04

The adults watch on cc TV I think - and the camera crew are adults presumably

I think it will be interesting. I can't imagine having to watch my child on cctv and not being allowed to step in at all. That would be a nightmare

Podrick · 03/02/2009 17:10

I think the parents could remove the child from the house permanently if they wished but only one did

I would presume that there are people near by ready to step in if anything goes wrong/gets dangerous and that the children recieve counselling afterwards.

bigTillyMint · 03/02/2009 17:12

There was a feature on BBC breakfast - apparently one boy wanted to leave, and did.

My DC saw the trailer on the breakfast prog and want to watch it. I'm recording it, so I guess they could... what do you think?

themoon66 · 03/02/2009 20:18

Why would you put your DC up for something like this?? I'm genuinely puzzled.

diddle · 03/02/2009 21:08

looks like its going to be quite interesting to see how they behave and react to different situations. glad there are actual adults there. don't think i could do that with my kids

overweightnoverdrawn · 03/02/2009 21:10

usually I watch any old crap on the telly . i like Im a survivor get me out of here . LOL BUT I have made the decision not to watch this as I have a 9yr old ds and I think I would find it too upsetting to watch . Believe me I am no wuss. But this is just cheap TV

TequilaMockinBird · 03/02/2009 21:11

1 of the little boys is in my DD's class at school!

Watching with interest....

Ewe · 03/02/2009 21:17

I think it is interesting to see how they behave. Hasn't this been done before anyway?

RTKangaMummy · 03/02/2009 21:18

which one?

diddle · 03/02/2009 21:19

oh wowtequila, i bet the whole school is watching

stainesmassif · 03/02/2009 21:23

didn't william golding already write about this for us?? i find it completely terrifying - both imagining my child self in there and allowing my own child to participate

i'm already amazed at how much the girls appear to be acting or talking like grown ups, sayng things they;ve probably heard their parents say

stainesmassif · 03/02/2009 21:26

the tone of the documentary so far seems to be 'hahaha - looked how stuck the kids are without adults to look after them' - we knew that didn't we?

scifinerd · 03/02/2009 21:26

I really really don't get why any parent would allow their child to participate in this. I think its pretty irresponsible of channel 4 to use children for a "scientific" experiment.

Twinklemegan · 03/02/2009 21:26

Lol Ewe, I was just about to ask hasn't this been done before? I'm sure it has, and it was pretty cringeworthy IRRC.

RTKangaMummy · 03/02/2009 21:28

Charley 11 year old girl and Jason were on THIS MORNING today with their mums

ravenAK · 03/02/2009 21:29

Definitely been done before.

The boys wrecked the house, then behaved quite kindly to one another.

The girls had one of their number locked in a bathroom wailing within hours, iirc...

themoon66 · 03/02/2009 21:37

Is someone there close enough to stop the boys seriously hurting each other?

Yes, they are just showing that part - one of the mums is having a chat with her son. So the parents must be quite close, keeping an eye on the CCTV.

funnypeculiar · 03/02/2009 21:44

Ohhh, all the boys crying because they are missing their mums is making me sniffy
