Meh. I was really pleased about this coming back after the cracking pilot, and I've only just found out that Andrea Riseborough isn't returning, they're making it 'less gothic and funnier' and the rather attractive fey vampire bloke has been replaced too.

serenity, or anyone who is a bit more excited about it, come and enthuse me, I want to like it, but I've got a horrible feeling they're going to make 'Two Pints: The supernatural version' instead...

ohno, whats going to happen? lets talki like annie, she was cool, and goerge. loved it

KayHarker · 01/03/2009 22:02

Remember to breathe...remember to breathe...

Oh. My. Word.

That was 100% the very best piece of television since Life on Mars.

I am caught between the absolute awesomeness of that ending, roffling about 'Nana', and thinking I really should be checking to see what fanfic exists already...

MrsTweedy · 01/03/2009 22:12

So there's obv. a new threat looming but....

Why did Herrick pop those pills?

Has anyone else noticed Annie's clothes used to be torn & now they're not? Plus she had a different outfit on when she went all 'Carrie'.

Poor Nina.

Loved Nana.

LoisGriffin · 01/03/2009 22:43

GREAT ending and lead into next series.
Nina's a werewolf now!
How FABULOUS!!
Still feeling very afraid though...

DivamakesKimchi · 01/03/2009 22:52

it was great, i had such good feeling i dont know why, i must be saddo. so pleased feeling.
mitchell and josie was soo heartbreaking
almost cried. i just wonder who is professor jarred? why he met owen, hwo he met him, and why he called someone else. is it his name? oh im feeling really impatient now. it better be good.

KayHarker · 01/03/2009 22:55

I was so into it I was making squee noises and watching through my fingers.

And that Aidan Turner. Damn.

CHOCOLATEPEANUT · 01/03/2009 23:09

i was a bit disappointed with the this.I am really into this show and LOVED episode 5 but there was no explanation as to why annie suddenly got all them powers and nina becoming a werewolf was a bit

was wondering whether the bloke at the end was a vamp who would turn owen into one as he would make a serious baddie but think new show will be about vamp hunters hence the phone link to a professer?

think they are great actors though and have serious hots for mitchell!

NoBiggy · 01/03/2009 23:32

Annie got powers because she turned death down. She has a "whole new skillset". They were talking about it towards the end, just before you see Nina's scratches.

CHOCOLATEPEANUT · 01/03/2009 23:38

oh yes

i forgot

i thought owen might become a vamp, he would make a real evil one

BarrelOfMonkeys · 02/03/2009 07:40

So the voices that Annie was hearing, were they the same as the voices that Owen started hearing in Ep 5?

When is Series 2 due on??

It was absolutely brilliant, wonderfully, amazingly brilliant.
(everything Demons should have been but just wasn't)

The guy in with Owen at the end, was he a vampire? Is that why he made the phonecall to the professor, saying they had found them, 'them' being Mitchell, George, Annie?
I don't know if my nerves can cope with them being chased for the whole of the next series, I was on the edge of my seat during the last two episodes..

Loved Nana, she was brilliant

And the Josie thing made me sad.

And the priest was very funny, he should be back next series!

But brilliant, dh and I loved Being Human, can't wait for it to be back!

And yes, definately the best bit of television since Life on Mars!!

MamacitaGordita · 02/03/2009 08:39

SUCH a good series- really glad it has been recommissioned! Think they got the funny/scary mix right.

Definately vampire hunters next series and...
werewolf babies??!! lol

fryalot · 02/03/2009 08:42

loved it.

missed five minutes in the middle (had to change houses! grr)

loved loved loved it.

Sometimes I really wish us Brits did series with 96 episodes like the Americans instead of a measly six!

FairyCCTaleEnding · 02/03/2009 09:47

Agree it wasn't as nail-biting as last week's, but they still packed a whole load into one episode and I loved it.

Best line was the priest's - 'I've seen Yentl' - and yes, wasn't he great? He should definitely come back.

And I can't deny it any longer - have a thumping great crush on Mitchell. Love George in a maternal, isn't-he-sweet kind of way, but Mitchell is sex on legs.

MitchyInge · 02/03/2009 10:24

will annie get some new clothes for the next series?

AnnVan · 02/03/2009 11:28

Really wish I'd seen the final now. What happened to Mitchell? How did he survive being staked? What happened to Owen after turning himself in?

ProfYaffle · 02/03/2009 13:20

It was fab wasn't it? Can't wait for the next series. I agree Fairy, Mitchell is lush. I particularly enjoyed the bare chested hospital scenes

AnnVan - it's repeated on Friday at 9pm.

ProfYaffle · 02/03/2009 13:20

Think I gave you a hint about how he survives there oops, sorry!

gizmo · 02/03/2009 13:42

Don't read if you are saving last episode to view later.

AnnVan, it was great. The episode opened by explaining how Mitchell met George - Mitchell saved George from being beaten to death by Seth and his vamp buddies when they had spotted him as a werewolf.

Mitchell had not been staked through the heart, and made it to hospital, accompanied by Annie (who refused to go through Death's Door) and George. Great cameo from a hilarious hospital chaplain ('you're kind of sarcastic for a priest, aren't you?', 'well, yes, but then I just, y'know, forgive myself') who helps George protect Mitchell from renewed vamp attack. Meanwhile Annie discovers that she has missed her door and starts hearing voices crying out for help.

Mitchell needs more blood to recover fully and there is a very moving sequence where his 1960's ex volunteers to die to help him recover.

To finish things, Mitchell decides to meet Herrick in a vampire duel, on condition that Herrick will let George and Annie live. He has arranged it for a night when George will transform. Annie wants them all to fight Herrick, George wants to take Nina and run, but agrees to go to the funeral parlour and take a message to Herrick to fix the time and place of the duel.

He returns to the house, where they say goodbye, seemingly for the last time. After George and Mitchell have left, Annie hears the voices again and suddenly sees one of the prisoners from the Vampire's 'blood bank'. He has died, and asks for her help in releasing the others. She discovers that having turned down death has given her useful powers - like throwing vampires across
the room - and she uses those to go the funeral parlour and release the prisoners. But as she is leaving one of the Vamps mutters something about Herrick meeting Mitchell in a dungeon, which she knows is wrong.

Guessing that George has set up a confrontation between himself and Herrick, she finds Mitchell and they run to the isolation room that George uses, to find him locked in with Herrick and beginning to transform. Turns out that the reason vampires hate werewolves is that they 'are the weapon' as George puts it, but although Herrick knows he is going to die he is triumphant, because he believes that killing him will transform George into something less than human.

At that moment, Nina, who has followed Mitchell and Annie, arrives and rushes into the room to help George who is transforming. George pushes her out and the door is closed, as he tells Herrick that what he is doing is done for love, which is very human. Turned into a werewolf, George finishes Herrick and is about to break out of the room, when he sees Nina looking in at him and stops.

The closing moments saw the gang having breakfast the next day, trying to understand if they were really safe. George and Nina quietly talk about what has happened to him, since he was scratched by Tully. Cut to Nina sitting in the bathroom, rolling up her sleeve to look at several scratches George made on her when he pushed her in the isolation room.

The very last scene is of Owen, now in what seems to be a mental institution, talking to a suited man about his story and his need for protection. At first glance the man appears to be some kind of psychiatrist, but on leaving the institution, he makes a phone call, and simply says 'Professor Jared? I think we've found them.'

Cue credits and one highly overexcited Gizmo....as you might be able to tell by the length of this post
