Saw he was crashing then what killed him? Also missed last 15 mins. Catching vomit as DD hurled from the top of the stairs!

An artery in his neck was ruptured causing a major bleed. They stopped that but he then crashed and though they carried out resus and put him on a bypass machine they found he had no brain activity. Morris speculated that this could have been due to an air embolus rather than the length of time his heart wasn't beating for as that was quite short. Chas stayed with him and begged them to do more but he was gone. He agree to comply with Greg's wishes and donate his organs and Neela took Pratt to theatre to carry that out. This bit was all very moving and I cried like a baby - especially when Frank hurried over to press the lift button for them to go upstairs and just reached out to touch Pratt as he passed.
Sadly then they had a rather silly and mawkish scene in the bar sharing memories and I felt that was very clumsy. In the old er the program would have finished with the lift doors closing and that would have been damn good. The only good thing about the bar scene was that Abby said Pratt's organs saved three lives.

(oh and apparently Luka has an interview in Boston and Abby is agonising over whether she should move - just go woman!)

Northernlurker · 09/01/2009 08:07

Oooh sorry - and Frank was in the bar and looked like he had lost his son - which was the only other good bit - very fine performance from the actors playing Frank and Chas imo. Everybody else was just playing 'sad' - they actually looked like they were grieving.

ComeWhineWithMe · 09/01/2009 08:10

pratts dead NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO OOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! .

OneLieIn · 09/01/2009 08:14

NorthernLurker, you should be on ER with a paragraph like that!!!

ohmeohmy · 09/01/2009 08:34

THank you. So now we wait for Dr Greene to come back from the dead. Well appear in flashback anyway.

I felt it was a bit letdown to have a character that had been in the show 8-9 years go like that, more of a whimper than a bang - and at the start of the very last series of ER ever I do wonder if he fell out with TPTB?

And would it kill them for the last season ever to put the fucking proper theme tune back on??

bluebump · 09/01/2009 10:53

What comewhinewith me said!

bluebump · 09/01/2009 10:56

BTW, Was it on channel 4 or E4 as i'm going to have to watch a repeat now and mourn the passing of Pratt!

Gorionine · 09/01/2009 11:01

When did it start again? I can't believe I missed it!

hockeypuck · 09/01/2009 11:05

I can't believe I missed it last night. Does anyone know if there is a repeat on at all. Desperate!!!!

elliott · 09/01/2009 11:08

Me too!

hockeypuck · 09/01/2009 11:10

Just looked and it's repeated on Monday Jan 12th at 11.40pm on More4 with the next episode being next Thursday at 9pm on More4.

I'm so glad I get to see that episode - but will remember to have tissues ready now you have said about Pratt - sob!

LostGirl · 09/01/2009 11:16

Second the big box of tissues. Have just watched it during dd's nap and now have splitting headache from crying like a baby . Why couldn't Abby have got in that ambulance? I feel like her character has come to the end, Pratt was still great.

Poledra · 09/01/2009 11:53

God, it was sad - would have howled but DH was watching it with me and I would have never lived it down. Couldn't Abby have bought the farm instead? She is sooooo moany...

vjg13 · 09/01/2009 12:34

I thought it was excellent and REALLY moving. I liked the bar scene with Frank looking devastated.

BibiThree · 09/01/2009 13:42

Howling watching it on Sky+ now.

Indith · 09/01/2009 13:47

Anyone know if/when it is coming to channel 4? I will not be awake for the late night repeat! Hustle started last night at 9 too and since both dh and I love Hustle but only I watch ER Hustle won.

was anyone else waiting for the asthamatic girl that Abby was half heartedly looking after to die? Not really sure what the point of that story line was.

numptysmummy · 09/01/2009 14:09

But i loved him He can't be dead

Cried buckets when they took the gurney to the lift.

Frank is one of my favourite all-time characters
