Yes George, I think we get that you're an architect now, no need to start every single sentence with "as an architect"

dead fanciable until he speaks
If I had a gag I would though

squeaver · 05/11/2008 20:29

Agree

bloody stoopid idea painting the entire interior of the house stark white, what a waste of paint

and he is drawing on the walls in black marker pen!! That will show through any further painting/wallpaper

We once made the mistake of letting dc draw on an undecorated wall, you can still see it !

georgie-boy has nice eyes though

scaryfucker · 05/11/2008 20:40

also, has anyone noticed the camera work tending to linger lovingly on various bits of george ?

a few mins ago, there was several seconds of footage of his hands (at rest)

squeaver · 05/11/2008 20:58

They need a bath surely??? That wee one can't even be 2

OP posts:
Waltzywotzy · 05/11/2008 22:10

He spent £1k painting it white.

Yes I spent most of the time watching and saying " they need a bath".

Oh and I think her fancied the missus!

It was very nice though. They did say they 'finished" it off as all the money was spent on the structure. So I think they got all the soft furnishing FREEEEEEEE!!!!!

scaryfucker · 05/11/2008 22:18

yes, the missus was very pert and mostly dressed in ikkle strappy tops lol

iamnotimpressed · 05/11/2008 22:37

He def fancied the missus. I was also concerned when my DH said, hasnt that George bloke got lovely eyes?!!

blithedance · 05/11/2008 23:27

Unfortunately DS1 (allowed to stay up and be cuddled because of fireworks) saw him draw on the walls, must remember to lock away the felt tip pens.

The Channel 4 website does seem to have gone overboard with promotion though..

as in here this picture is frankly scary.

Have to admit to being inspired by the content though.

blithedance · 05/11/2008 23:29

Also very worrying that they even contemplated spending £30k without replacing that 30+ year old boiler

Waltzywotzy · 06/11/2008 08:57

Yes the boiler. When the dad said " I have been away at night thinking about it"!

The house hadn't been touched for years, so it would give you some indication that the electrics, boiler etc might all need to be checked.

Also why did he start knocking a big whole in the wall when he must have known it was load bearing, they had to do an emergency trip to get some jacks so they could put in the RSJ.

PuppyMonkey · 06/11/2008 09:01

I missed the beginning and was very confused about who paid for it all? Not C4, surely?

This would be my ideal show to appear in actually. Get put up at a fancy hotel for a few months, come back and my house is fab. Where do I apply?

squeaver · 06/11/2008 09:03

The couple put up £30k but presumably got their architect (i.e. George "I'm an architect" Clarke) for free plus, it seems, all their furniture.

I'm still more concerned about their lack of bath. In fact, I'm going to start a thread about it.

Waltzywotzy · 06/11/2008 09:05

I think there was a link on here for the show a while back. But I expect they'll do a second series. Look at the TV link on here and see if you can email them.

You have to find the money, but as I said before it looks like they then fitted most of the house out with furniture and appliances to 'finish' it off.

PuppyMonkey · 06/11/2008 09:07

Sounds like a bloody good deal for £30,000 actually!

PartOfTheHumphreysGroup · 16/11/2008 13:36

I've only just watched this (never manage to watch tv in real time)
That painting everything white gimmick is going to get v tedious! Not a very realistic tip for most people..

And does anyone else find the way he pretends to be really nervous / worried about whether they're going to like the results a bit pathetic?

dh (as an architect....!) watched a bit of the first episode to see what it was all about and he commented on the white interior and marker pen and said ......that looks like great fun!

he didn't watch much (he has too much work to do) but who does watch programs similar to their jobs? when i was working before dc i was a nurse and couldn't understand the number of staff who loved casualty....arrrrghh i want to switch off from my job

Fimbo · 19/11/2008 22:45

Love George and I thought he was one to trust, but dear god what in holy crap was that he did tonight? It was vile.

kitchen was vile and as for the dining table and chairs..puke!

princessmel · 19/11/2008 22:52

Cristiana your first sentance made me LOL.

TracyK · 20/11/2008 17:36

Yes it annoys me too when he pretends to be worried about the peoples reactions. I think he has weird eyes. And he wasn't very pretty getting in and out of the shower last week.

southeastastra · 20/11/2008 17:41

i thought this was quite entertaining, but i would have spent more money on nice furniture and upstairs.

that wallpaper is a bit last year

spookycharlotte121 · 20/11/2008 17:50

I personally would have been really disapointed to come home to that. They needed more bedroom space and a bigger bathroom.... why didnt he extend the upstairs too and go to ikea for the furniture.... that was he could have spent in one area and saved in another
