Where the hell is Tanya's baby?!

This is starting to wind me up now. Poor thing never gets so much as a cuddle! It sleep constantly, upstairs presumably, left with a 10 yr old? Whilst there is constant shouting and door slamming. It never wakes.

scifinerd · 30/10/2008 20:25

why haven't the fireworks woken him up

MrsMattie · 30/10/2008 20:29

She leaves it with 'Fag Ash Lil' Dot almost permanently. And on the rare evening he is at home, he sleeps angelically all night - leaving Tanya free to swig wine / fight with Max, storm over to the Vic / shag (gorgeous) Jack etc all on a whim. So silly.

Bit like Bobby. Do they have a live-in nanny? Ian and Jane don't seem to worry too much about him during their back-to-back shifts at the cafe.

nancy75 · 30/10/2008 20:30

wish i lived in eastenders, young children are just sooo much easier to cope with!

mamakim · 30/10/2008 20:36

It'd be great, you'd hardly know they were there! I forgot about bobby! Yeah where is he too? These writers need to stop just writing babies into soaps for a good storyline.. having a 5 month gestation then disappear until they have another storyline involving them being ill/snatched etc.

on Neighbours it's easy to have young children, too.

rowingboat · 30/10/2008 20:42

Eastenders is the worst example of parenting ever. Dawn constantly dumps Summer on people with a minute's notice.
Oscar is completely neglected, even when he cries, Tanya says 'Oh that's Oscar crying' as if she is about to go to him, and then...doesn't and simply carries on with her conversation.
I think I read that one of the babies on Eastenders was sacked - could have been Oscar. He will probably reappear in 6 months as a two year old.
Can you imagine what will happen to Roxy's baby? Frightening to even think!

FattipuffsandThinnifers · 30/10/2008 20:49

Oh god, this drives me mad! That baby is just never seen ever! Jeez, and if he is supposedly at Dot's the whole time, what a great childminder she'd be, what with the chain-smoking and keeping a baby in a cardboard box?

Has anyone else also noticed that Dawn's toddler seems to live in her buggy? Though at least we see her...

Rowingboat, what would cause a baby to be sacked? Fluffed it's lines?

MrsMattie · 30/10/2008 20:51

People are always dumping their kids on Pat, too. Poor Pat. She is 'Nana' to the whole Square (and as lovely as she is, she's another '40 B&H a day' one!).

mamakim · 30/10/2008 20:58

I think about it too much, the other day summer was drinking from an open cup and feeding herself. Ds is the same age, I said to dh how can that child do these things when it's mother spends no time whatsoever with it apart from when it's sat in a buggy. My ds would go crazy if i strapped him into a buggy in the house!

OP posts:
rowingboat · 30/10/2008 21:36

I think the baby was sacked because it made Tanya's acting look bad.
Summer is actually buggy shaped now.
And whilst on the topic of the children, what about Bianca's children - they seem to have chicken nuggets for every meal. I think it is supposed to be amusing, but it's not really is it.

fangdom · 30/10/2008 21:39

same place as the twins on emmerdale...

rowingboat · 30/10/2008 21:41

Oscar may have resigned because nobody came when he cried and he had to put his own bottle in the microwave.

catweazle · 30/10/2008 21:46

According to something I read Oscar was sacked because it was costing the BBC £300 a day in taxi fares to collect him/ take him home

MingMingtheWonderPet · 30/10/2008 21:51

To be fair tho the BBC had prob only ever paid that £300 once, he is never in the show so couldn't have been needed too often for filming.

mawbroon · 30/10/2008 21:59

There was an episode of EastEnders a few weeks ago, and for some reason, I noticed that every time there was a child in the shot, they were in a buggy, or a highchair, or a playpen (Honey's son IIRC) and I have a theory that maybe they are not allowed to be loose on set for health and safety reasons.

It's one of those things that becomes very annoying once you have noticed it though...

umbungo · 30/10/2008 22:10

i can understand that its difficult to keep babies and small children hanging around all day for filming. but at least right some lines around them!
for example, i cant meet you in the pub i have to puree carrots for oscar!
or at least get tanya to drop him at a registered childminder or nursery!!
no signs of toys at the house either.

but Summers treatment seems to be the worst!

it is very annoying when soaps do this.

mamakim · 30/10/2008 22:13

That's true, never seen any of the babies 'roaming free' around a living room, next to mum and dad on the sofa etc like rl.

OP posts:
jesuswhatnext · 30/10/2008 22:17

another thing, exactly where do all these kids sleep? IME, a common or garden eastend house can't really sleep so many people! pats house must be stuffed to teh rafters with sleeping bags and spare mattresses!

fangdom · 30/10/2008 22:19

And how many people live in the queen vic?

mamakim · 30/10/2008 22:23

Fang i know. Peggy and new fella, roxy and sean, billy and jay, phil and ben (do they still live there?)

OP posts:
FattipuffsandThinnifers · 30/10/2008 22:26

pmsl

'Nana Pat' must be living in a tardis.

The Slater's house must have a couple of extra wings tpp. At one point surely all of Charlie's 4 daughters, plus sons-in-law, (and children? can't remember) and big Mo, seemed to live there.

umbungo · 30/10/2008 22:56

you do know i meant write, not right in my post.

catweazle · 31/10/2008 20:44

Tonight Tanya, Jack and both girls dashed to the hospital, and Dot offered to drive Bradley there. Pat was busy with Bianca so who had Oscar this time?

nancy75 · 31/10/2008 20:45

i was wondering that too. perhaps he had taken himself down the park or something?!

BabyBaby123 · 31/10/2008 21:46

another thing that is really annoying is he is always mentioned as an after thought - it's always 'tanya and the girls' or max/jack talking to her 'you and the girls' occasionaly Oscar is mentioned but i'm sure last night max didn't even mention him at all
