Anyone watching mum, heroine and me?

It's depressing me so much I may turn it off, but do you really think moving house can lead to your child becoming a heroine addict? It's giving me second thoughts about my life plans now!

God, I could've put that ten grand to good use - certainly wouldn't have spent a single penny of it on dirty brown water to inject into my leg.

Finding it hard to feel sympathy for these two. And yes, I don't know what I'd be like if my DS became addicted to drugs. But I can't imagine giving him cash to meet his dealer outside Kwikfit and then trundling off to buy chocolate milk while he went to shoot up.

Pawslikepaddington · 23/10/2008 21:56

I want her mum to be my mum, she is so nice.

expatinscotland · 23/10/2008 21:56

here she goes, enabling her again.

expatinscotland · 23/10/2008 21:57

look at it now.

slayerette · 23/10/2008 21:58

See she managed to keep the flat looking nice

Pawslikepaddington · 23/10/2008 21:58

She's been stealing STEAK too-prob from M & S! He he!

Oh good God give me strength, the mother is almost worse than the daughter!

Pawslikepaddington · 23/10/2008 21:59

At least my house looks tidy compared to theirs

guilt drives the mother

guilt guilt guilt

umberellascankill · 23/10/2008 21:59

sorry - the mum is a bloody idiot. this is exactly what my dp's mother did when he had drug problems - helped him get into a fucking mess.

It must be so hard for her but giving her money? ffs.

slayerette · 23/10/2008 22:00

Bet mummy paid the fine...

expatinscotland · 23/10/2008 22:00

it'll go on till you die, lady.

and she won't give a toss.

tiredemma · 23/10/2008 22:01

whats the odds on her going back onto drugs when she returns????

bloody stupid cow

wessexgirl · 23/10/2008 22:01

This is tricky.

I do feel that the mum is enabling, but the girl is only 21.

She reminds me very much of my aunt, one of whose sons was an addict for a time. She bought him a caravan, in which he lived at the bottom of her garden for quite some time.

He was around Hannah's age at that time. He is completely off heroin now, married with 2 lovely boys and another dc on the way. I really hope it can work out like that for them.

southeastastra · 23/10/2008 22:01

glad i didn't watch this, the tv review made it sound so attention seeking of her in the first place

Lilyloo · 23/10/2008 22:04

I watched this and felt for the situation they found themselves in.
Poor mum and poor girl!

expatinscotland · 23/10/2008 22:05

well, hopefully she'll get off it, wessex.

and not be like gordon ramsay's brother, who is 39 and still on junk.

southeastastra · 23/10/2008 22:09

isn't he in some foreign prison expat?

mumof2222222222222222boys · 23/10/2008 22:26

It was hideous. I admire the mum for being so calm and trying to maintain a relationship with the daughter, but God I couldn't do it. Soul destroying - and although I wasn't paying full attention, I think it sounds like the drugs destroyed the parents' marriage. So depressing - I don't believe leopards change their spots, but she clearly had to keep hoping.

GreenEggsAndSpam · 23/10/2008 23:08

I think the mum was a pragmatist tbh. Horrible situation to be in, and I am not sure we can know how we would react unless in the situation.

Had added poignancy for me as I recognised many of the locations they filmed in, and know how pervasive the drugs scene in Bton is.

notnowbernard · 23/10/2008 23:14

She is enabling her

But it must be so hard

Dp and I just discussed it. He couldn't believe how she gave her a tenner to go and score while she waited... I asked him what he'd do if one of our dds begged him for the money - the alternative being them having to go and give some scumbag dealer a blowjob or something

It really doesn't bear thinking about, does it? When you really put yourself in her shoes

firsttimemama · 23/10/2008 23:35

Who is paying for the rehab in South Africa?

Rose100 · 24/10/2008 06:59

I wished they had given more background info about her childhood. It was so hard to understand it all.
