Anne Boleyn may not have had blue eyes but I would bet my last pack of malteasers that Jane Seymour didn't walk like a builder either.

Sorry but everytime the actress moved I giggled, they may have got the "pretty" right but seriously I've seen more elegant chimpanzees.

I thought that! Well actually, I said to dh, "she walks like she's shit herself!"

Maybe that's how "ladies" walked in those days?

cornsilk · 21/09/2008 09:59

lol at walks like a builder!Might be the chastity belt.

GobbledigookisThrifty · 21/09/2008 10:16

She is played by a different actress in the next series apparently - maybe for this very reason?! LOL!

I do hope they don't change Henry (even if he should be a big fat bloater by now!).

Jodyray · 21/09/2008 18:49

I agree she was pretty but did walk a bit funny and has zero sex appeal unlike Anne even though she is a prize bitch!!

Forget Henry...the real talent in this programme is Charles (Duke of Suffolk) his best mate..........SWOON!

LaVie · 21/09/2008 19:55

I quite like the bloke who plays Cromwell

bratnav · 21/09/2008 19:58

Oooh yes, Duke of Suffolk is foxy

I suppose you couldn't really have a middle aged obese Henry though, not sexy enough for American audiences

GobbledigookisThrifty · 21/09/2008 19:59

Agree - DUke of Suffolk more classically good looking. Just something about Henry.

MARGOsBeenPlayingWithMyNooNoo · 21/09/2008 20:00

LaVie - He's kinda nice...

DumbledoresGirl · 21/09/2008 20:03

GDG, relax! As a massive obsessive fan of Jonathan Rhys Meyers (Henry) I have read a review of the next series in which it was stated that, although they knew they should be fattening Henry up for this part of the story, they are not going to do so. Can you imagine the glorious god that is JRM succumbing to a fat suit?! Thank god he never would. I only watch it to swoon at him, although I agree that Sussex is bloody handsome too.

I was disappointed with Jane. She seemed dazzling pretty when Henry first met her, but then this week, she seemed rather plain. Surely they needed to make her attraction rather more obvious than that so he we could understand Henry's infatuation? (although he does seem to run after anything in a skirt).

DumbledoresGirl · 21/09/2008 20:03

Sorry, meant Suffolk, not Sussex. Anyway, Charles...

LaVie · 21/09/2008 20:08

Well, obviously i wouldn't kick charles out of bed.....

DumbledoresGirl · 21/09/2008 20:12

Actually, and I don't know if this is worse than fancying Cromwell, but I had a bit of a thing going for Thomas More by the end of his life.

LaVie · 21/09/2008 20:24

Oooh yes, he wasn't half bad was he?

LaVie · 21/09/2008 20:27

Still think the woman who plays Anne Boleyn acts with her nostrils. A bit of emotion required? I'll just flare my nostrils!

georgimama · 21/09/2008 20:30

I thought the whole point that Henry fell for Jane was that she was so sweet, wholesome and "good" after wicked, sexy old temptress Anne?

I do love this series but why does everyone look about 28? The timeline has got a bit skewed for dramatic effect (Geprge Boleyn married Jane Parker long before Anne married Henry, for example) but Friday's episode has us at events shortly before Anne's death, so about 1535/36. Henry was born in 1491, making him about 45 years old. Cromwell was 6 years older than that. Peter O'Toole is playing the Pope, so why can't we have some other realistic casting (although O'Toole is probably a bit on the old side actually).

(there's nothing wrong with fancying Jeremy Northam by the way, have you seen the Gwyneth Paltrow "Emma" film? He makes a damn fine Mr Knightly)

cornsilk · 21/09/2008 20:35

I really can't stand Anne's brother and father. Will be quite glad when George eventually gets the chop.

LaVie · 21/09/2008 20:40

me too cornsilk. I've just finished reading a biography of Anne Boleyn and I know she wasn't exactly whiter than white but she really didn't deserve to die. Just because she didn't give birth to a son!

cornsilk · 21/09/2008 20:44

That sounds interesting - would you recommend it?

DumbledoresGirl · 21/09/2008 20:52

Of course. I never made the connection between Thomas More and Mr Knightly, but yes I have seen that version of Emma.

Still think Jane did not look wholesome and sweet enough. She put on a big thing about her chastity, but then she sat on Henry's lap and snogged him readily enough, didn't she? Mind you, who can blame her?

LaVie · 21/09/2008 20:52

Yes! tis very good

She was obviously helped by her father to get where she was but she was also very much a self made woman, with a bit of a mouth on her!

georgimama · 21/09/2008 20:53

Didn't have much choice really, did she? Women who said no to Henry VIII didn't really end very well.

DumbledoresGirl · 21/09/2008 20:54

Yes I realise that, but snogging him? A chaste kiss would have been better.

cornsilk · 21/09/2008 20:56

Jane looked really old as well. Slattern.

LaVie · 21/09/2008 20:57

Loved the way Anne burst through the door and had a right go at him! You go girl!

Hated the way Henry spoke to her after her miscarriage, the pig.
