What can you tell me about Merlin? How do they get round the obvious mistakes?

eg Merlin being a contemporary af Arthur despite being instrumental in Arthur birth ?

& he doesn't appear to be welsh - & I thought that was definite

& when is it on

katy you need to be on Dr Who geeks

for some unconfirmed reason we are already discussing it

Cappuccino · 19/09/2008 18:37

come, come

bring your copy of Malory in the original Middle English

KatyMac · 19/09/2008 18:42

Noooo

Dr WHo is for Dr Who

You can't talk about 'other' stuff on it

Let Merlin have it's own home

Well I have read sme Malory (a very long time ago) but I do claim to being slightly more interested in Merlin/Arthur as history rather than myth

mebbe we should just have a generic fantasy thread, so that serenity can still drivel on about Jensen Ackles on it

Saturday at 7(ish)

I like having something on a Saturday evening to bribe/threaten the children with when I need some peace and quiet in the afternoon!

So I hope it will be a big hit

BoysAreLikeDogs · 20/09/2008 19:08

How funny !!!

Both threads have been linked to the other one !!

DrHorrible · 20/09/2008 19:08

Ooh can I join the generic thread so I can mutter about Jared Padalecki at the same time?

DumbledoresGirl · 20/09/2008 20:27

Damn! Owing to my sons' obsession with watching past episodes of Top Gear on Dave, I missed all but the last 15 minutes of this programme. I had completely forgotten it was on and it was only when Top Gear ended and they wanted to watch LOTR for the 50th time that I wrestled the remote from their hands and found Merlin.

I am a huge Merlin fan, have been for decades. All I can think is WHEN IS THIS REPEATED so I can catch up on what I missed?

wintera · 20/09/2008 20:31

Its on iplayer. Here is the link -

www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b00dq8tn/

If you have on demand on your digibox then you will find it on there too. Enjoy!!

SciFiFan · 20/09/2008 20:46

Hey Dr H I'll join you re Jared Pad - it's not often I find someone who favours Sam over Dean. We Sam-ites have to stick together!

DumbledoresGirl · 20/09/2008 21:08

Thanks wintera. I discovered it on the bbc website and have just watched it. Well, it has a long way to go imo, but I will look forward to next week's episode. I have read too many versions of Merlin to be a purist about any of them.

Blu · 20/09/2008 21:12

I pointed out to DP that tomatoes hadn't been brught back from the Americas yet, but he just sighed and said 'it's all fantasy, not real, you know!'

DumbledoresGirl · 20/09/2008 21:18

LOL Blu, I didn't think of that one! I did cringe at Merlin's use of the phrase "ok" and the very modern looking clothing, but I can see anachronisms are going to be this production's strong point.

JackieNo · 20/09/2008 21:21

Not to mention 'prat'

DrHorrible · 21/09/2008 08:30

The shoes and "Gwen" annoyed me the most

Scifi - Tis the shoulders

LittleBella · 21/09/2008 08:39

Oh Gwen is so annoying.

I liked the old hag though.

This is a very acceptable replacement for Robin Hood and Arthur, though not quite as fit as Guy of Gisbourne, might be just the ticket for a saturday evening. Why this fashion for 12 year olds in lead roles though? Is it just that I am an old gimmer?

LittleBella · 21/09/2008 08:40

Hmmm. Immediately identified with old hag.

Things are not looking good.

WideWebWitch · 21/09/2008 08:41

LB, are you saying you fancy Arthur? Oooh you dirty old woman!

They are at least older than teenagers

WideWebWitch · 21/09/2008 08:50

How old are they exactly?

DrHorrible · 21/09/2008 08:51

22 and 24
