Beck - 2 new episodes or re-runs (BBC4)

I saw a short item on a news site about new episodes of Beck - but I think with not much Beck - just his horrible grandson.

But then when I check my listing for programmes tonight it wasn't there.

But there are 2 episodes on iPlayer.

Not sure if I will watch.

Has anyone seen them?

It was BBC4. Lovely surprise. Can't beat a bit of Scandi noir. Only seen the first episode so far. The other one is on iplayer now and on BBC4 next week.

I've watched the first one and in a way it is so far from the original Beck that it stands on its own. And glad to see everyone in the story, not just me as a fewer, think's Beck's grandson is a pain in the arse!

I have some issues with the plot but will wait until others have watched it.

Agree it didn't get much publicity and it was sheer chance I saw in a news paper listing. And not sure why, on my VM schedule of the day it didn't appear as Beck.

We've not seen the early Becks. I think by the time we came across this he was already well on the way to retirement. I must investigate whether they're available anywhere.

The one shown last night is new, though IMDB says it’s the 3rd in the series. DH and I were puzzling over this, as we generally don’t miss a Beck (though it’s not been the same since they killed off Gunvald).

On further investigation, BBC4 showed the two previous episodes last year, both featuring the annoying grandson being his usual tiresome self. They’re just playing fast and loose with the scheduling, I think.

(The books are very good - nothing like the later TV series, which rapidly took on a life if its own!)

@IwantToRetire Bless Martin, how young he looks there-we thought he was looking quite old and a bit ill in the first episode. I loved Gunvald Larsson (weirdly now doing the cash for gold ads on tv) and his replacement the big bloke with ginger hair who was in quite a few things. I don't remember Martin's grandson being such an idiot in the last series although he liked to strike out on his own for the glory I think.

I always assumed he was written out because it had "big projects" on the horizon! But cash for gold!

I was totally taken aback by the plot for his exit!

I've watched the 2nd of the new(?) series. Was disappointed.
