Oh Liza Tarbuck who used to do the Saturday evening Radio 2 slot? She was so good in that slot! She’s a lovely presenter.

Nourishinghandcream · 31/08/2026 19:30

Yes, miss her Saturday evening radio show so it will be great to see her back on TV.
As yet I have no idea how many episodes there will be of the celeb version of GPTD.

Why must there be a celeb version of everything?! I like the pottery throwdown because you can see the potters are skilled. I don't want to watch some D lister learning pottery. Harumph.

Nourishinghandcream · 13/09/2026 13:20

Tonight.👍

Have to admit, the "celebs" are the usual mix of non-entities, have only heard of two of them!☹️
Looking forward to seeing LT again, she has been away too long.

Looking forward to this. For once, I’ve heard of all the celebs.

hattie43 · 13/09/2026 19:53

Who are these people ,

PerdreLeBleu · 13/09/2026 19:57

Ok.I hate all celebrity programmes and now very disappointed as I thought this was the new ‘normal’ series.

However I am intrigued. Do all the ‘celebs’ have some pottery background? Having thrown on the wheel a number of times and am completely hopeless so can’t see how they could be expected to throw having never done it before. Also they’ve used pottery terms without explanation?

Or have they had an off camera crash course?

Like you I was looking forward to the start of the main series tonight. Glad I read this as I can give it a miss.

I think on a previous 'celeb' one I've seen they have said that they give those taking part a sort of crash course before filming starts

Evening all. Wheely sorry I am a bit late, been a busy old clay.

Hmm. Layton. I think he has form for being a bit of a ringer doesn’t he. Lucy thing is so irritating though so I will pot (typo but leaving it in) up with the ringer rather than listen to he wittering.

TheExtraGuineaPig · 13/09/2026 20:45

I would like to see Liza Tarbuck on the main show … although Siobhan has settled into it more now I think

TheExtraGuineaPig · 13/09/2026 20:45

and I’m feeling nostalgic for the Big Breakfast seeing Liza and Denise Van Outen on this!

Mooselove · 15/09/2026 13:14

I really enjoyed this. Knew who all the celebs are and liked all of them although Lucy is a bit annoying.

They all did well and I loved Richard's breakfast set. Layton did well too.

LibertyLily · 15/09/2026 16:22

Really didn't enjoy this! I'd heard of everyone except Fatiha and wanted to like it because I love the main show. But Layton is awful and Lucy so annoying, plus it's not much fun watching people being crap at something imo. Love Denise - and Richard's set was good - but won't watch it again.

ItWasnaMeGuv · 15/09/2026 16:33

Just seen this thread and popped in to see what the general consensus was ands whether to watch on catch up. I was all excited when DH said it was on then saw it was "celebrities". Not my thing tbh, I prefer real people with talent. Didn't bother watching and will continue not to bother. Will wait for the proper programme Smile.

Piggywaspushed · 15/09/2026 16:50

Oh well, I like it! It's like a warm hug to me.

I agree! In fact it held my interest possibly more than some of the civilian episodes 😬

The judges hit the right level of giving praise and criticism without sounding condescending or patronising. They fully understood their brief and it was quite inspiring to see complete novices having a go - potentially showing to viewers that they too could try simple slab and pinch builds for e.g. without feeling hopeless.

Lisa Tarbuck as presenter is a natural - she made it easy watching.

Mooselove · 15/09/2026 17:34

I liked it because I thought it was good seeing novices trying to make items. I do like the main show but probably enjoyed this one as much if not more.

I like Layton and look forward to seeing his future makes

Tallisker · 15/09/2026 17:38

I enjoyed it as they are all about the same level as me - I’m inspired to have a go. But yes, Lucy was annoying, which was disappointing. She was a hoot on Sewing Bee. Really funny.

LaBelleSauvage123 · 15/09/2026 18:01

I dont like the ones who try too hard to perform as their showbiz persona. Will carry on watching it but for me, the joy of the main series is watching the contestants make beautiful things.

Piggywaspushed · 15/09/2026 18:10

I do agree - but also don't watch these shows because I pot, sew , cook etc so I also agree that watching people learn is interesting. I wish I had the time and attention span to take it on.

I found it quite uplifting listen to Merson speaking about why he spends time doing mindful things.

franke · 15/09/2026 18:26

I think I prefer these celeb versions as a one off like at Christmas or the bake-off charity ones. Although, having said that I'm enjoying celeb Masterchef at the moment.

This format is lifted by the lovely judges and the marvellous LT - I could watch her in anything.

Nourishinghandcream · 15/09/2026 18:28

It was fine, cannot be compared with the normal GPTD (they are skilled amateurs) but it is interesting to see people with no previous experience (just a crash course of basic skills).

Love Lisa, she was as good as I was hoping she would be.👍

As I said before, most of the celebs were unknown to me (and my OH).
Know who Denise is and have seen Lucy (can't remember where) but the others, no idea.🤔

OP posts:
Mooselove · 15/09/2026 19:52

I just, on the whole, prefer to see amateurs learning a skill. So I don't like the professional Masterchef but do like the ordinary one and the celebrity one. I do like Bake Off but prefer the celeb one and the junior one.

I also love Strictly because, again, I like seeing non dancers learning to dance. I do though, of course, love seeing the pro dancers dance

NewGirlInTown · 16/09/2026 04:29

Lucy very annoying but liked everyone else. Layton is a sweetheart.

Nourishinghandcream · 27/09/2026 23:32

Lucy is proving to be annoying (deliberately so?) and just not very good.

Surprised Denise did not get a point tonight, liked the dog.🐶

Thought they only gave a single one-point per episode for the runner up but for two weeks now, Fatima has been given one as a bonus. What is that about?
