I managed to close off the last thread without realising and couldn’t see a new one, so here you go!

I have to go out in about 20 minutes.

VAMOS Carlos- if you could just wrap this up now.

Raahh · 09/09/2026 08:02

This is pretty ridiculous though, in terms of how late it is. Whoever wins will be at a disadvantage in their next match- no matter how fit they are.

Come on Carlos!!

Raahh · 09/09/2026 08:17

This is going to be another tie break decider, isn't it ? and I hate the 10 point tie breaks. The crowds are getting bang for their buck- but it's all far too tense.

Raahh · 09/09/2026 08:26

Vamos Carlos!

I don't have to go out for another hour now- so take your time. But hurry up. Grin

FormerlySpeckledyHen · 09/09/2026 08:31

Can hardly bear to watch.

Raahh · 09/09/2026 08:32

Noooo

Come on Carlos!

Raahh · 09/09/2026 08:34

Bollocks.

Well done Ben.

But the scheduling needs looking at.

IceandIndigo · 09/09/2026 08:34

Damn. Well done Ben.

Raahh · 09/09/2026 08:36

I'm really not too fussed who wins any of it now. Men or women, if I'm honest.

Possibly Mirra for the women.

It was good to see Carlos back though.

Fizzywinegum · 09/09/2026 08:39

Wow well done Ben but heartbreaking for Carlos - I think he would have won if it had not been 3.30am - they really do need to look at the scheduling - it’s crazy

IceandIndigo · 09/09/2026 08:43

Yes it’s difficult to imagine that the late hour didn’t have an impact. I think Ben has played all his matches in the night session so he was probably more acclimatised. He did play very well, although Carlos also had chances to win the match and I would normally back him to take them. Still very positive for him that he can come back and play at this level, with no apparent pain in the wrist.

ChessieFL · 09/09/2026 16:31

The late finish was ridiculous. They really need to sort this out as it’s not fair on the players.

Carlos did pretty well to get as far as he did considering it was his first tournament back after a long time off and he kept his level up throughout that long match.

Zheng had a tough time closing out the first set!

JaneJeffer · 09/09/2026 17:30

I’m sad that Carlos is out but at least he looked happy enough walking down the tunnel.

Raahh · 09/09/2026 17:52

I'm confused watching now, after watching Carlos this morning Grin. I feel like I've lost a day somewhere.

JaneJeffer · 09/09/2026 18:58

Well done Elena. Not the friendliest meeting at the net Grin

ChessieFL · 09/09/2026 18:58

Well done Elena! Aryna will probably be a bit miffed she’s no longer no 1.

Qinwen has had a good run here given she’s been out for a while too.

JaneJeffer · 09/09/2026 19:00

Very poor crowd Hmm

I don’t think either of these women are huggers!

No, probably not Grin

Raahh · 09/09/2026 19:03

How many times are they going to say 'world number 1'.

JaneJeffer · 09/09/2026 19:04

I remember Zheng saying “I’m not here to make friends” so I guess that’s working out well for her Grin
