FFS. I've just seen this. All the way through the Queen's final, they kept making comments about the fact there was still a spot left and an announcement had to be made today. I erally didn't care.

I am so annoyed it's Serena, and, petty or not, hope she loses early. Venus has lost in the first round of all 10 tournaments she has been given a WC to recently.

I have no idea who else could have had the spot - but there will be players who play week in and out who are in qualifyng who need the money and anking points - which she does not.

If they decided to give her a seeding spot (again) I might even boycott Wimbledon . I would never but I might.

It's like a GCSE maths questions- if you've got a bag of marbles etc....

I used to love Ouzo. But that could have been because I drank it when I was already too far gone to cae what I was drinking .

I had to go out and missed the last set of Queen’s, I am really happy for Francisco as I’ve always thought he was lovely. That bit about his dad leaving the country for the first time was extremely wholesome. And happy for Foe as well, neither of the guys I was expecting to win did!

I’m glad I can rely on you ladies not to be excited about Serena. I am hoping she loses in R1 so there’s no chance she’ll be scheduled the day I’m there. Yes she’s a legend and all, but she’s not going to be competitive, if she misses tennis she should play an exhibition.

Exactly- with all her money, her and Venus could set up a tournament of their own (and I could avoid watching it).

I'm also super cynical, and think this has a lot to do with promoting the amount of weight she has lost, and the company she promotes.

I’m another one not excited about Serena’s wild card - I can’t see that she will be competitive at all - it seems a bit selfish to take up a WC just do that her daughters can watch her play

I’m starting to have nightmares that I’ll end up seeing Djokovic, Serena and Kyrgios in the doubles when I go to Wimbledon

Don’t say that Fizzy, I’ve got tickets for court 2 day 9 which is all going to be doubles if last year’s schedule is anything to go by!

I’m also disappointed Serena has got the singles wildcard. I didn’t mind the doubles wild card so much but agree there’s far more deserving people to get the singles.

Hopefully they’ll all be out by then Chessie - I agree that the doubles WC for Serena is OK but not the singles

I enjoyed being on court 3 last year - I think that you get to see better matches on the outside courts but there’s always the risk of rain

I’m going with DH this year - the last time I allowed him to go was pre-roof - it rained all day and we didn’t get to see any tennis!

At least on court 1 we’ll see some tennis (whoever it is!)

Ice I'm pretty sure he does. I'm very grumpy about the Serena situation.
I agree, at a push, the doubles WC was ok (though I still hope they get Siniakova/Townsend in the first round).

But a singles WC is going too far- and dragging out the announcement is once again making a Williams Wimbledon. And I'm not happy about that, I was glad those days were gone. There are many other other players that should be taking the headlines now.

Part of me is even looking forward to Naomi turning up on court in some outlandish white creation, to divert the attention. (But only a small part)

Just* *realised that Billy Harris also didn't get a wc, despite being the British no4. And because he's having to play qualifying this week, he can't defend his points from Eastbourne, where he reached the quarters last year, so will drop further!! The Wimbledon Committee have not covered themselves in glory!!

That’s terrible. Poor Billy. I feel like Wimbledon left everything until the last minute this year and didn’t put much thought into what they were doing! Tim was too busy building the extension.

Iga wants players to get a share of tournament revenue. I can’t see that happening but they have nice towels at Bad Homburg so I’m sure she’ll get a share of those.

Imagine if Serena and Naomi end up playing each other! They’ll be more interested in who has the most hideous fashionable outfit than who wins the match.

I am just praying that it’s dry and I do get to see some tennis when I go. Normally I would get show court tickets to avoid that issue but I wasn’t lucky for them this year. I’m just worrying that because it’s so hot this week it’s going to turn and piss down with rain for Wimbledon fortnight.

JPJ really struggling to serve it out. There have been a lot of errors. He needs this win, to avoid being the player to go into Wimbledon having not won a match on grass.
