The Our Girl Addicts Thread 80

We've been going since 2014 and have watched numerous other series as well as Our Girl. We're currently on the second series of Last Tango in Halifax and are enjoying it immensely!

Yeah, slightly disappointing. It seemed that there was a lot of space-filling with that long conversation between Harry and Alan, and there were other story threads that weren’t developed.
And is that the last we hear of Robbie?

Well that was a bit of let down as a Christmas episode.

It was depressing in the main or just plain stupid (the play). The whole storyline was stretched out too much. An extra long one episode would have been better, a bit like the Downton Christmas specials.

Looks like there was a 4 year gap between the last episode and the final series, 5, so time will have passed for all of them and we will be picking things up at a different stage in everyone's lives.

Yes, the first part promised much but it all fell a bit flat in the end. Shame.

See you all here next Wednesday.

Have a good week everyone Smile

Evening all. Here we are for the start of episode 5 and there is a time jump as 4 years will have passed since the previous series aired....interesting to see where they all are now.

As an aside, ITV3 have started re running Downton in their 10pm drama slot each night. Found myself watching the first episode of series 1 again on Monday evening and really enjoying it. Despite the number of times I've seen it and our detailed analysis week on week, I still find things I didn't notice the first time round. I also appreciated once again just how good that first episode was at introducing all the characters and setting everything up so we know exactly how the land lies with everyone, who the schemers are and how everything fits together. However, I did spot a storyline last night that gets repeated later on. - how Lord G sees off a potential blackmailer - Carson's old Music Hall partner and Lady Mary's scouser maid who wants to tell everyone about her dirty weekend. In both cases he pays them off with a limited amount and threatens them with prosecution if they show their faces again. It's the infamous Mr Pamuk episode again tonight Grin

Yes ready to press play

Ilovelblue · 09/09/2026 21:00

I'm here!

Is it four years since the previous series was shown or just four years for dramatic purposes?

Pressed play....doing the long recap - guessing the previously will need to cover a lot.

Magi84 · 09/09/2026 21:00

pressed play

Ilovelblue · 09/09/2026 21:00

I did see that Downton was being shown again.

Broadcast date says it's 4 years between series.

Ilovelblue · 09/09/2026 21:02

That's a whacking great house Celia and Alan have bought!

Rhubarb01 · 09/09/2026 21:02

HUGE house for a pair of pensioners

Rhubarb01 · 09/09/2026 21:03

What a lovely view from that conservatory.

Magi84 · 09/09/2026 21:03

Oh Ted’s coming from NZ

eejittwo · 09/09/2026 21:04

I was watching Van der Valk, got interrupted, went back to it, and had to abandon before the end for this. I’m warming to Mark Warren in VDV.

Ilovelblue · 09/09/2026 21:04

Ted is coming from New Zealand. Celia doesn't sound as if she's going to be a very gracious host.

Meanwhile, Alan has applied for a job at the local supermarket. I don't think snobby Celia approves.

Alan applying for a job and Celia seems to want to argue .. about everything so far

Yes, he's not bad in VDV

Rhubarb01 · 09/09/2026 21:06

Is Alan trying to get away from Celia do we think?

Has Caroline moved from that farmhouse?

eejittwo · 09/09/2026 21:06

The cat is among the pigeons already.

Magi84 · 09/09/2026 21:06

Oh public transport is not Celia’s thing it seems

Ilovelblue · 09/09/2026 21:06

Celia is not a very nice person at all. Very negative about everything!

Oh Flora looks about six or seven so time really has passed
